You're correct but I generally only buy the highest tier items I can from those people. Something like that being just a single item, I would use as discount fodder to increase my energy so I would probably sell for a loss. If it were the same item but he was offering 7 of them it might have been more worthwhile for me. I have most recently been buying a huge amount of T13 gear for the current Dragon Invasion where I make a massive profit for having bought them.

you can change gold into gem but people will buy like 2 gem for 1 huge thing so its exausting (meaning no gem waste to worry much.. misery not worht gem buyable with gold)
You can play the game almost entirely for free. There are certain blueprint lines you can't craft without buying premium workers but you can buy those blueprint items from the in game market. It is 100% completable without paying but its mostly slower.

Prestige is pure brag - no worry your gem wasted are still "i got this nice skin other dont have or wont have"
