I removed one X Speed for a Potion just in case I need to stall for a turn, particularly if you get a bad opening hand. In general you don't need to swap more than once or twice in a match, and since Electrode already swaps for free having 2 X Speeds is a bit too much, the second one is usually a dead card.
Statistically, 7 basic pokemon is probably the best build for Pikachu. The deck still has a greater than 50% chance to draw 3 basics for the bench after seeing 7 cards when including pokeball. Meanwhile, it manages flooding the hand with basics with less than 17% chance to draw 4 or more in the same 7 cards. Really like the idea for the series! The next most popular deck in the meta would definitely be Mewtwo/Gardevoir. Would also like to see a deck guide for Marowak EX and choosing between Primeape/Dugtrio/Sandslash as a second line.
@@rbar91I prefer his build because the coin flip odds of having enough bench for full Pikachu damage is better than having too many basics in hand that are unusable. If not comfortable with red card, adding another basic would up the chances to 63% for a full bench, but 25% chance of having unusable basics in hand early in the game
I rly like this idea for a series, please do more! I’d appreciate a deeper dive into mewtew as there seems to be a lot of niche variations like w jinx, or even more recently a singleton non-ex mewtew for more beefy bodies to stall. Tbh I struggle w the deck, it feels very inconsistent to me. I have nearly a complete collection atm and a lot of games across the board.
You dont need magneton in a raichu version, raichu is a great finisher i one shot mewtwo with giovanni with it, and you dont need to commit energy to it as long as you have surge so you can play around energy if you retreat a pikachu, making it efficient
I think zapdos EX is the biggest bait. Zapdos EX is very bsd in the mirror match because zapdos is weak to electro. Voltorb into electrode kills zapdos EX. So if you face a lot of pikachu enemies, leave zapdos out it will increase winrate drastically.
Zapdos EX is meant as an HP wall against aggro fighting decks due to non-weakness-you typically only give it energy against Vena EX, Articuno EX, Char EX decks to gamba a 150-200dmg, otherwise its just a stack stick and bench mon for Pika EX to stall the board
@@Teratoma.. 2 Pikachu Ex 2 electrode 2 zebstrika 1 pinpurchin. You could consider running 1 zapdos too instead of 2 but the normal zapdos could be better for 1 price
I would love to see matches against meta decks where you don't draw the optimal cards or where the opponent draw the optimal cards. I can't find any channel that explore these matchups tactics on a balanced match.
why not substitute zapdos ex for regular zapdos in the pikachu ex deck (i'm running the electrode version w/o raichu)? i just find it more appealing that i can still use regular zapdos as a good enough tank and only give up one point if it dies.
30 less hp. EX can attack with 1 energy and 3, compared to 3 for non EX. Mainly the EX is there to stall with the bulk and deal some damage, retreat once you get pika or deal potentially massive damage with its thundering hurricane.
Used many variants of the Pikachu build, the one I find best for me is 2x Pikachu Ex 2x Voltorb 2x Electode 1x Magenimte 1x Magenton 1x OG Pikachu 1x Raichu 2x Prof 2x Pokeball 1x Sabrina 1x X Speed 1x Giovanni 1x Lt Surge

So you’d add another basic instead of the red card in his deck?

@@asuvius Adding another basic also make the chance to not draw Pikachu on the first turns bigger.

This deck is really good just used it in some games. Thanks Willow for this deck list!

Which basic lighting types would you use instead? Zapdos isn't great but we don't have many options right now. Electabuzz?

The reason you run Zapdos Ex is either to trade, or as an answer to anti-meta decks like Marowak Ex, since Pikachu can't deal with Marowak.
Pinchurchin could carry sometimes. It can even close out games if you're lucky.
oh my fucking god that gold EX pika looks FANTASTIC
I'd like this guide for mewtwo. Mainly thoughts on another basic besides the ralts/m2 and what to do if they pressure M2.

Do venusaur next! I use non-ex exeggcutor as the second line in my version, personally.

Moltres with Centiscorch is the new meta! too powerful.
meta does call for zebstrika

What about Primeape as a counter?
It’s underperforming across the board. Not a good deck
Electrode is too strong in Active, Pika can and will clean up
Thumbnail errors bother me to no end. Unsubscribed.
@willow I kind of agree, no hard feelings but it's not careful.. pls fix
What’s the thumbnail error?
Shut up soy@@imiz8842
Nice thats my deck😂😂😂 thanks for the credit
nobody knows you and you did not pioneer this deck
Thousands or people use the same deck
bro come on now!
It's literally the most well known, over used deck in the game.
