      All the chihuahua I’ve met have been sweet and loving. The problem is that a lot of people (not all some of them are just angry dogs) don’t treat small dogs with respect. The majority of them treat them like a stuffed animal they can hold and mess with whenever they want or dress up however they please. And a lot of them end up learning the only way to get space is to go straight to biting. People think it’s funny when they get angry and often upset them on purpose because they think it’s “cute.” Something no one would do to a bigger dog, if you had a dog like a Doberman people are scared or at least wary of them being aggressive and as such respect their wishes and train them properly

    • @Aalligator_facts
      @Aalligator_facts 8 місяців тому

      yeah i have 2 chihuahuas and they bark and people but never bite, once we introduce the guests to them and let them smell the guests a little the dogs become super cuddly with them, most people dont treat their chihuahuas with respect and personal spcae, most owners who have a dog that hates people need to understand just like you dont love everyone neither should they, small dogs are naturally weary of everything since they are small, thats why you gotta introduce them to people not by force but with affection and let them have it at their own pace.@@Yeshuah6

    “Chow chows are not inclined to seek physical affection” tell that to my chow, who decides to become an opera singer when I don’t immediately submit to cuddles. Doesn’t matter where i am, what i’m doing, or whether I want cuddles. If she decides she wants cuddles, she must have cuddles, or the whole neighbourhood will hear of my war crimes

    When I met my hubby he already had a best friend. His West Sibirian Laika. He was not the least impressed with me turning up disturbing their lives. He had this way of always act "macho". No wimpy feeling shown. The first time I actually understood that he loved me too was three months in into our relation. I got off the train and they met me. I saw them from afar. The dog had seen me and got crazy happy. He dived into a huge bush waving his tail so hard that he almost ripped it up. Then he came out, just gave me a short glance before turning back to the car. " Oh, so it's you again.." He got 14.5 happy healthy years. How we loved him and his ways.. ❤

    Never had any friends as a kid so Muffin was really my only friend. I'd always have tea parties with Muffin along with my stuffed animals, I also often decorated Muffin's harnesses to match my outfit. He really was like a gentle giant.

      My husband's family had a chow, Jasper. I met him when we, my now husband and I, started dating, in HS, I was 15. Over the years, Jasper became my "buddy" and whenever we were at his house, the dog could always be found next to me. While I was pregnant with our first born, our new build home had several delays, and while we thought we had accounted for it, the occupancy permit denial ended up tacking 3 months onto our move in. Soooo, my gracious in-laws allowed us to stay with them until our house was completed, rather than extending our lease another year. Well, idk if it was the bond we already had or the baby, but Jasper became my shadow. When I slept he would lay beside my bed (which apparently he never spent the whole night in anyone's bedroom prior) wait just outside the bathroom, take walks around the neighborhood with me (my father in law practiced some pet care in ways I didn't always agree with - like letting Jasper out just loose in the neighborhood. Sometimes you have to pick your battles, though. While I mentioned several times my concerns, I realized I was wasting my breath AND forming a wedge simultaneously 😮😢) which is especially neat because he would show up out of nowhere when I started toward the street! He would rest his head on my belly and sleep. One of my favorites was his giant gentle paw, resting lightly on my arm to wake me. Then when I'd reach out to pet his head, he would take my hand ever so gently into his mouth, just barely closing it enough to "hold" my arm and he would gently "tug" me. I'd stand up with my wrist in his mouth, and he would lead me to his bowls, toys, or the door. Releasing me as we approached his need 😅
      Just AMAZED me how he could kill skunks with that mouth but also could hold your hand with just a featherweight pressure and consistently, too! Anyways, after we had our son, his focus changed. While he still got excited to see me and spent a great deal of time with me, he switched over to baby duty and now guarded wherever the baby was! Although, with the baby, instead of sleeping next to the crib, he would sleep on the threshold of the room, so no one could enter without his say so😂
      This was 27 years ago, and sweet Jasper left us only a few years after my firstborn joined us. I feel blessed to have known him, the only Chow I've ever been close with, and to have experienced his sweet, caring, gentle side. 💕
      He was a rascal, though, and got in his fair share of trouble running off leash most of his life. About 8 months after my first born came along, he managed to impregnate a Keeshond 😮😅 (I NEVER knew he wasn't fixed, either) who's owners were not angry and since my in-laws offered to pay for her vet care through the pregnancy/birth/first 8 weeks they were given pick of the litter times 2!!! 😊 So, they got TWO half Chow, Half Keeshond fluffballs! Gizmo was the male & Gadget was the female ❤ How he found the one breed closest to his own to reproduce with, I'll never understand but I KNOW he did it!
      I KNOW chows aren't for everyone, but if you don't want a PIA, up your butt 24/7, very chill, super loyal breed and have experience with large prey driven breeds, I wouldn't say they aren't loving, so much as very selective of who, how, when, where and why they chose to share that special stuff with. Which IMO makes them MORE desirable then a breed that is over-the-moon happy for EVERY human they see. ❤

      It seems so often that the "scary" breeds are actually the sweethearts.
      (I know this is partly due to people actually taking them seriously and training them unlike how many "toy" breed dogs learn bad behaviors due to never being told off cause they are "just so adorable when they are angry"......but in the end, dogs are just sweethearts if you take good care of them.)

    My grand.a had a chow chow when I was younger.
    Chewie was the goodest boy. He was there from the time I was born, and he was absurdly gentle with my younger brother and I. He would seek us out to snuggle.
    But the neighbor hit my brother with a stick when chewy was nearby... and as soon as my brother started screaming, he bit the neighbor girl on the stick hand once then chased my brother back home. He stayed DIRECTLY with my brother for the rest of the day until the neighbor girls family came over and explained what happened.
    My state has a one bite policy. First bite cant be held against the owner. But anything after can. This was his last strike... and the vet told grandma that she had to put the dog down... because when it comes to older chows, one bite is the least common. Once they bite somebody in defense, that person is fair game.
    Not true... but this was 1994, and my grandma was going off of police and vet advice.
    Chewie was so loved.

      Chewie's goal was keeping my brother safe, but a bite is still not legal. My state has common law dog bote rules. Meaning my grandma couldnt be held liable for the first bite. But with a bite on his record, any future bites would male my grandma civilly and criminally liable.

      Not necessarily true. Exceptions exist obviously but breeds do indeed have traits that are generally pretty consistent, usually rooted in what humans bred them for, over hundreds or even thousands of years. Some dog breeds are known to be more clingy & affectionate. Some breeds are more aloof & independent, not emotionally needy. This is why it is essential to research a breed thoroughly BEFORE you take it into your life, to be sure it will match your own expectations, needs and household dynamic.

      God said to the angel: "The best will be last.
      This animal we create, will be loyal and true,
      With a heart of pure gold and we’ll paint his mouth blue.
      He’ll have great intelligence and a mystery within,
      And when we finish his face, we’ll give him a grin."
      God finished his creation, then knelt on one knee,
      And whispered to him what his purpose would be:
      "You will take man my love, when I set you free;
      Then you’ll turn one ear and listen for me. I’ve given you a coat that will make kings bow.
      For this you’ll be captured and known as "The Chow".
