As someone who started one, the profit is great but the headache isn't. IMO not worth the hassle. I'll explain why, most software is terrible and simply produces too many mistakes within routing, if you manually make routes it takes up way too much time and there's too many variance within the route for example a lady doesn't want to leave her house or she's busy etc. It causes a setback and therefore makes the rest of the route impossible for the driver.
Have you tried RouteGenie? Our NEMT software does great job with routing. You can choose a time for demo here: routegenie.com/get-a-demo/
Been reading about this business for a while. Can someone please point to the pricing structure per trip, per mile, for each type of transport (sedan, minivan, wheelchair van), and how is waiting time being paid?
Your pricing will depend on your area. We have a blog with some averages, but the difference between regions can be huge, just like with cost of living, salaries, etc.

I have been in the nemt business for 12 years now a lot of you drivers wanting to get into the business have no idea what you're getting into imagine when you get trips from the broker like LCP or Verizon or southeastrans or LogistiCare or well trans you're competing with their own drivers these Brokers have have their own trucks their own Vehicles their own cars their own wheelchair vans and they get the most profitable trips I know that sounds very unethical and it's it is very unethical but that's the truth of the business the business you are at the mercy of the broker the dispatchers dispatching the trips from the broker to the drivers give the best trips to their own drivers first they get the gravy we get the scraps
Any business is hard to start. But if you can break the ice, you will be rewarded for your efforts.
