Yep, but she could only do so 3 times. After using her third and final command, the leader of the monkeys told the witch she would never see them again.
I also, have read the book several times. The musical stage version is incredibly different from the book in so many ways...not just in small insignificant details, but in the story itself. The book was a bit dark, and actually followed the Wizard of Oz movie pretty well, once Dorothy was on the scene. The new movie pretty much stays aligned to the broadway version. So, whatever brings in the most money, I guess. I have to say, I enjoy the musical version and new movie version better.
Good eye, yes, she has to get out of Fiyero's castle while he and the group skip to the Emerald City again to return the Witch's broom to the Wizard. I loved seeing them walking when it pans up from the waterfalls.
it will, and the flying monkeys in wizard of oz really didn't scare me but in the wicked movie does😳 I don't know if its the cgi🤣 or looks too real but I don't know why they are scary, seeing wicked when it hit theaters first time in the intro when they fly out after Glinda says the wicked witch is dead and they make noises and fly and bust through the window scared and always will scare the living day lights out of me😳. Just seeing them in general scare me.
Ok so if Elphaba is the wicked witch, then that would mean the girl in the wheel chair with the silver slippers is the one the house was dropped on no? And if so, then why did the munchkins celebrate her death as well? Did she also become wicked?
She always was wicked. In the book she terrorizes and threatens people once she becomes mayor. Demanding high taxes and controlling them through fear and abuse. She was actually even crueler than her sister. Where Elphaba became a product of other peoples hate. Nessarose was corrupt from birth, the constant spoiling and manipulative ways ensured that.
¡¡SPOILERS, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!! I might be slightly off, but from what I understood, due to many experiences from both life and moments with Boq at Shiz University (not going into detail as to NOT spoil much), she became a tyrannical ruler and took the freedom and rights away from the munchkins after her father's death due to a heart attack, which is what made her wicked per say. Because of such, she became the Wicked Witch of the East. When the house fell on her, her tyranny died with her, which freed the munchkins and caused a celebration amongst them
Well I read the book about 20 times and Chestery was her monkey since he was a baby. I really don't like how the story was changed in the play. However, the acting in the movie was good.
Did anyone notice that one of the monkeys had 1 brown eye 1 green.😁
Yes! And I was digging to try to find the significance of that but I couldn’t figure it out. I gave up 😂
@@bearsbeetsbattlestargalactica6I think that it’s a reference to practical magic
@@bearsbeetsbattlestargalactica6Jon Chu said he just liked it and wanted to make Chistri distinctive like elphaba
That picture at 1:39 is actually a concept art for an animated Wicked movie made by Disney that never came to be.
In Baum’s original story the Witch used a magic cap to command them.

I'm wondering if Dr Dilamond's fate will be like in the book or more family friendly like the musical
I haven’t finished the novel but I got it for Christmas and am working on it. Dark and NOT little kid friendly, but still good writing.
0:00 Is that Elphaba riding Fiyero's horse when she's supposed to be dead?
Yes they'd probably change some details from the musical

@@nooralnator8666 She doesn't die in the musical either.
In the book, Elphaba used the melting to fake her death

Terrified me in the 1939 one as a kid

Yes it’s her sister Nessarose who enslaved all of Munchkinland to keep Boq for herself.
Yes she became the wicked Witch of the East and she enslaved and ruled over the Munckins for years, that's why they celebrated when she was killed.

U mean her sister? And They did celebrate nessa rose death in the wizard of oz when Dorthy showed up
Can't wait!

The play is based on events in the books and focuses on different themes for a social message. It is not a retelling of the books
The only problem, CGI vs real, flying chunky monkeys
Lol too easy.
