i know this video is a year old, but KOS came out with a Vanilla Bavarian Cream flavor that tastes EXACTLY like Vanilla ice cream, it was incredible, but it was limited edition. I loved it so much I have messaged them repeatedly to bring it back because it's 100x better than the standard Vanilla flavor. I would buy the biggest size they offered, multiple bags/containers, for life, if they ever bring it back.
The orgain chocolate and vanilla protein powders are my favorite. I make iced coffee with the vanilla or add it to my iced matcha lol and also add it to my morning oatmeal. And for the chocolate one, I make chia seed pudding. I also make smoothies with both or just drink them with almond or soymilk. My absolute favorite protein brand.
Sun warrior actually doesn’t taste bad mixed with something. But on its own it isn’t the best. I am not sure if you all have a Smmothie Kjng near you, but they make a Vegan Mango Kale and some other Vegan smoothies with it and it taste amazing and smooth! Sun warrior is definitely a Earthy and acquired taste when you have it by itself but the ingredients are raw so keep that in mind. You all should definitely give it another chance! :) Great review as always.
KOS is an amazing company altogether - super transparent, organic and sustainable. I don’t use their vegan protein since its only 20 grams and I aim for 30, but their products are great.
i recommend almond protein powder on amazon if you don't have a nut allergy, there's no flavor and it goes with literally everything!! it's about 20g of protein for 2 scoops and you can always flavor it by using a little bit of vanilla extract in a recipe or adding some cocoa powder to the protein powder :)) oh and did i mention it's one ingredient..almonds! 😅
@@PeaceRose96 I'm weary about ordering protein off Amazon because I don't know if the store is from the people who make the protein. I've seen too many reviews with fake labels that peel off to show what the real product is and I'm weary. I usually order direct off the site or go to stores like GNC and vitamin shoppe
When I first tried protein powder I had to gag it down. What I figured out is that you need to sift it to get rid of clumps, use more liquid than they recommend, whisk/blend/shake very well and it will be tolerable. I drink the vega sport one

I currently am drinking the sun warrior for a challenge I’m doing with my kickboxing class. It has 1 and 1.5 based on how much protein you want to have. You either do 1 scoop or 1.5 scoops. The lower amount of liquid is for 1 scoop. The higher is for 1.5 scoops. It’s definitely not my favorite protein powder but it has a lower amount of carbs than a lot of them which is a goal I’m going for. The Vega sport in chocolate is really good (compared to sun warrior) it tastes like a dessert.
I swear by the vanilla bean Orgain 😋 I was paying $42 for a medium container at Whole Foods (smh) until I found the bigger size at Costco for only $24!! I hardly ever have a smoothie without it ☺️
I LOVE Orgain! I recommend signing up for their email list & joining their rewards program. They will periodically offer 30% off deals on their website, making their 2 lb canisters go from $31.99 to $22.39. There is also a wide flavor selection!

Because I put fruit in my smoothies and I am very sensitive to sugar and I don’t like that artificial sweetener taste or any sweetener taste. If you find one like that please let me know.
I've tried Aloha, KOS, Ka'Chava, Sun Warrior, and Veg-e Complete Pro by Standard Process. Ka'Chava and Veg-e Complete are my favs though a little pricy. P.S. You two are great! Just discovered your videos. 😁
I appreciate this video more than I can say! I have an eating disorder and some times I can only get down liquids. Protein powders are $$$ and I am poor! Thank you for these videos!
Excellent review. I thought it was just me that hate sun warrior and I wanted to like it but everytime I made something with it, my spouse hated it and also myself.
I start the day with 1-2 scoops of Orgain chocolate, 35 or so oz of ice water, 1 tsp of cocoa powder, 1/4 tsp of stevia powder or to taste, stir vigorously and then ice to fill the 40 oz insulated mug. Lasts me almost all day. For a protein sparing modified fast and 100 to 150 calories, maybe slightly more with the cocoa. It thickens as it sits.
For me it’s not just about the taste alone, but does it bake well 😋 I use mine for protein pancakes. As a vegan bodybuilder I also make sure to get the most servings and highest protein. Best vegan protein for taste+ bake-ability is Liv Body protein. But I cycle with other proteins like Vivo Life (high quality sourcing of ingredients)- though admittedly doesn’t have the best taste.
I agree that taste isn't the only consideration, but I at least need to be able to hide it if it is horrid, which some are. I also prefer them to contain a good profile with BCAAs and EAAs because if I am spending time and effort lifting, the protein needs to give me a great profile as well. Liv Body seems to have it all and tastes good
We like the orgain one the chocolate one taste like pudding!! I use the vanilla in smoothies and I love it. To be honest we originally got them because there at Walmart for 20$ and were organic. But we keep repeat buying them. My husband gets the Equate brand from Walmart it’s there generic and it’s 14$ and a bigger container and it rather have that one Because it’s cheaper😀This video was great!! What he uses it for is just for a breakfast replacement on the way to work.
I do use protein powder in smoothies but i mostly use it for baking so i feel its easier to get my protein in that way. plus its good for breakfast, on the go or dessert.
I use the Now plain soy protein. I can't do the flavored protein powder. I put it in smoothies when my acid reflux is too bad or I'm too sick to eat normal food.
I wanted to start on plant protein, but just found out that most, even certified organic do have lead and metals in them. You have to really do your homework and find a product that is 3rd party tested for lead. Some even have BPA from the containers
This is priceless great video lots of fun and very informative. I am moving towards a Whole Food Plant Based diet on the recommendations of my doctors and need to make sure I get my protein. This video helps a lot.
I've only tried Orgain (only with fruit, veggies and water). I'll be happy to see y'all thoughts on each. Edit: I wonder if it being a superfood changes the taste and overpower the vanilla versus the option without superfood. I picked up the superfood with vanilla one this past week and haven't tried it yet. Hope I will not be disappointed.
The other option when you're making fruit smoothies is silken tofu. Doesn't have as much protein, but it has a very neutral taste, and is a reasonably good replacement for greek yogurt that a lot of omnivores use in their smoothies.
The Orgain Superfood Protein has a bit of a cinnamony/chai flavor, while the Orgain plain vanilla protein tastes like vanilla without the cinnamon/chai flavor.
Sun Warrior protein has a great price point, is delicious, organic and no added sugar. Their company is 100% vegan based, not just a side project. Vega is way over priced and Orgain has lots of hidden added sugars. I’ve tried many over the years and Sun Warrior is the winner!
I have tried a TON of vegan protein powders, and I always end up coming back to Vega, but I'm honestly a little surprised by your reaction to Sunwarrior. Great comparison though, and I definitely think other flavours would be good to review - I'm not a fan of vanilla on its own and many brands have great tasting chocolate, mocha, peanut butter and berry flavours.
KOS chocolate is the bomb. You would be surprised. I used to drink Organ brand but they changed some ingredients and it started giving me severe stomach cramps.
I use KOS, and I have never had that reaction... I put it in a blender. I really like it. I use it with yogurt, and they have many flavors. But everybody pallet is different... Enjoy!!
When I first tried Vega years ago, it was so gross. I’ll have to try it again, maybe they’ve reformulated it. The best tasting vegan protein powders IMO are soy based. They are not as easy to find. For a while, Wegmans grocery stores had their own version of soy powder and it was amazing! Even my husband (not a vegan) who swore by whey powder thought it was delicious and would use it. But they stopped carrying it several years ago. I’m going to check and see if they started offering it again. Thanks, this was very helpful. Sun Warrior is extra nasty IMO too!
My absolute favorite is Naked Pea Protein powder. It tastes pretty awful but I usually add cocoa powder, pumpkin spice, and splenda to my shaker bottle. It's 100% pea protein and that's it!
my favorite vanilla (out of those I’ve tried) is KOS! but I blend with ice and a banana so it’s not too gritty. funny enough, not a fan of the vega lol idk just don’t like the “vanilla flavor” or sweetener but i find the texture to be a little smoother
Thank you for validating my thoughts about Sun Warrior. I received my order yesterday and made a shake this morning. I was so excited to try it, and was so disappointed. Maybe I can hide the taste blended with fruits for smoothies and nice cream just to use it up.🤞🏼 Vega is a brand that I really enjoy! ❤️
Same exact thing here for me. I was worried I just couldn't get down with protein powder after buying Sun Warrior chocolate. Not about to waste the money so I'm going to choke it down.
For flavor I think the Vega Protein Made Simple line is hard to beat, it comes in Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry Banana, and Caramel Toffee. My favorite breakfast smoothie is 2 scoops of Caramel Toffee, a cup of vanilla soy milk, a banana, some chia seeds, a packet of Four Sigmatic mushroom coffee, and some ice - tastes like a caramel frappucino. The ingredients are super simple: pea protein, powdered coconut cream, sugar, and natural flavors, plus cocoa in the chocolate flavor and powdered strawberries and bananas in that one. I don't mind the sugar, I'd much rather have that than stevia, erythritol, and other sweeteners. Main downside is that a serving is 15 g of protein, vs 20 for Orgain Chocolate Fudge, which would be my second choice if I couldn't get Vega. A tub of ten servings is $12 on Amazon or $11 at some grocery stores.
Oh, it also doesn't have any of the gums and fillers, like gellan gum and locust bean gum, that give a weird mouthfeel to Orgain and a lot of other powders.
You guys should try STEEL supplements they have a whole plant based line and their veg pro protein powders are my favorite! Best tasting for sure and texture they have tons of flavors and awesome Macros!! My favs are the cookies and cream and hot cocoa! It’s Like real Swiss miss with mini marshmallows all vegan 🌱💪🏼😻
By far my favorite is Nutrex Plant Based Protein Powder (Vegan). The smoothest best tasting one I've tried and I have tried most of them on the market. The German chocolate cake is awesome!!
Nuzest has a strawberry one that’s not terrible. When I used to drink whey, SFH had a GREAT strawberry one but now I use the nuzest cause was the next best thing. If you’re successful on your search, PLEASE SHARE!
Thank you for making this video. I was on my way to buy Sun Warrior. Based on your review I bought the Orgain from Target and I love it. I love the taste of oatmeal. You all were spot on about the taste. Thank you because I am sure I would have wasted my money!!!
I’m always on the hunt for a good tasting and good blending vegan protein powder. I have tried all of those except Newzest and hated all of them. Without the whey that is typically used in non-vegan powders they just don’t blend well and taste awful in my opinion. I just found y’all and love your videos.
This is my problem too. My favorite was Nutrition 53 Lean1 (smoothie king uses this). But since going plant based and trying to make swaps, Even their vegan version is just way too chalky for my taste.
I wanted to like the orgain because it was so affordable but it was so sweet and gritty made my teeth fuzzy or like I drank glass . I absolutely love the Truvani chocolate peanut butter it’s my all time fave . I actually found out about them when they had a promo for a free full size bag and I got hooked wish it was more affordable but imo it’s the best tasting and texture and simple ingredients so that’s a win win in my book just the price kinda hurts my pocket tried going back to orgain but I couldn’t.
Clean lean protein is the only one, and I have purchased every powder out there, that sits well in my stomach. Flavor is not a real issue to me. It's always how it sits in my belly and how does it make me feel. So by default it's my personal winner.
@@MakeItDairyFree BRUh I did not know that, thanks for the info. I also try to be mindful of the companies I support with my money, gonna have to re-evaluate some things. Cheers!
I have been TRYING to find a replacement as good as the Nector vanilla bean protein powder since going vegan. Not just in flavor but smoothness ( no grit). I found for 1 scoop, I would have to use 12-20 oz of plant based milk due to the sweetness in a blender bottle .

I've tried Aloha, KOS, Ka'Chava, Sun Warrior, and Veg-e Complete Pro by Standard Process. Ka'Chava and Veg-e Complete are my favs though a little pricy. P.S. You two are great! Just discovered your videos. 😁
Ka'Chava tastes so freaking good! I just hate how $$$ they are 😭
Thanks for the review. I also prefer Orgain. Love that Philly vernacular 😅 "mug" & "jawn".. You're a lovely couple ✌🏿🫶🏿
haha thanks!
The both Vega vanilla and chocolate with greens are my favourites. My kids enjoy a little shake every now and then as a treat lol
Nice!
I appreciate this video more than I can say! I have an eating disorder and some times I can only get down liquids. Protein powders are $$$ and I am poor! Thank you for these videos!
Glad you found it helpful!
Did you try any without stevia? I can't do stevia.
Nuzest and Truvani don't list Stevia
Orgain and Sunwarrior are my favorites
Nice!
KOS!! My family’s #1 choice!
Glad you enjoy
Excellent review. I thought it was just me that hate sun warrior and I wanted to like it but everytime I made something with it, my spouse hated it and also myself.
you're not alone
I start the day with 1-2 scoops of Orgain chocolate, 35 or so oz of ice water, 1 tsp of cocoa powder, 1/4 tsp of stevia powder or to taste, stir vigorously and then ice to fill the 40 oz insulated mug. Lasts me almost all day. For a protein sparing modified fast and 100 to 150 calories, maybe slightly more with the cocoa. It thickens as it sits.
I love the orgain chocolate. But the Sprouts brand vanilla is my go to for mixing with fruit
Nice
I love y’all. Y’all are such an awesome couple. Keep up the great content
Gotcha!
What he uses it for is just for a breakfast replacement on the way to work.
ohhh I like pudding HAHA. Maybe we can do a chocolate comparison soon!
Sun Warriors Vanilla is by far my favorite but I’ve only ever had it in smoothies.
Definitely think it would make a difference, but then we are competing with so many flavors so it's hard
I do use protein powder in smoothies but i mostly use it for baking so i feel its easier to get my protein in that way. plus its good for breakfast, on the go or dessert.
Nice!
Yes pancakes or waffles 🧇 🥞
I have recently started vegan protein and this was super interesting to watch! I drink Orgain but I have tasted Vega and liked it
Nice!
I use the Now plain soy protein. I can't do the flavored protein powder. I put it in smoothies when my acid reflux is too bad or I'm too sick to eat normal food.
Thanks for the suggestion
The Orgain Superfood Protein has a bit of a cinnamony/chai flavor, while the Orgain plain vanilla protein tastes like vanilla without the cinnamon/chai flavor.
you'll have to let us know, this is the only vanilla we saw
Orgain is the one I usually buy from Sam's. I have tried the KOS and I thought it was grainy. I may try the Vega.
Glad you have one
Sun Warrior protein has a great price point, is delicious, organic and no added sugar. Their company is 100% vegan based, not just a side project. Vega is way over priced and Orgain has lots of hidden added sugars. I’ve tried many over the years and Sun Warrior is the winner!
Glad you enjoy
Wow I was just looking for vegan protein powders thanks for that guy
Nice
I have tried a TON of vegan protein powders, and I always end up coming back to Vega, but I'm honestly a little surprised by your reaction to Sunwarrior. Great comparison though, and I definitely think other flavours would be good to review - I'm not a fan of vanilla on its own and many brands have great tasting chocolate, mocha, peanut butter and berry flavours.
I wonder if the should have drank water, in between.
I definitely think we should try other flavors
Why do I get personally offended when I watch these taste test videos and they hate my favorite? 🤣 (Truvani is so good!)
HAHAHAHHA, sorry!
Is it true that these have led?
KOS chocolate is the bomb. You would be surprised. I used to drink Organ brand but they changed some ingredients and it started giving me severe stomach cramps.
Plsss do an update with newer brands :)
There's Macro Mike (it's from Australia but they ship internationally), Good Protein, Blessed, etc :)
I use KOS, and I have never had that reaction... I put it in a blender. I really like it. I use it with yogurt, and they have many flavors. But everybody pallet is different... Enjoy!!
Glad you like!
Sun Warrior is extra nasty IMO too!
oh that's always a bummer
Yeah, soy has an undeserved bad rep, and has largely been replaced by the pea/rice blends (which admittedly do have a higher pdcaas).
A lot of people are allergic or intolerant to soy, so that’s why.
My absolute favorite is Naked Pea Protein powder. It tastes pretty awful but I usually add cocoa powder, pumpkin spice, and splenda to my shaker bottle. It's 100% pea protein and that's it!
oh man! but that's good
My favorite one is KOS peanut and chocolate flavor ... you are so funny togetter, keep up the good work
my favorite vanilla (out of those I’ve tried) is KOS! but I blend with ice and a banana so it’s not too gritty. funny enough, not a fan of the vega lol idk just don’t like the “vanilla flavor” or sweetener but i find the texture to be a little smoother
Glad you have one you enjoy
Are any of these able to be used in cooking/baking?
Yes they can
Thank you for validating my thoughts about Sun Warrior. I received my order yesterday and made a shake this morning. I was so excited to try it, and was so disappointed. Maybe I can hide the taste blended with fruits for smoothies and nice cream just to use it up.🤞🏼
Vega is a brand that I really enjoy! ❤️
ahhh bummer. I hate when that happens. I'm sure you can doctor it up a bit just so you don't waste your money
Same exact thing here for me. I was worried I just couldn't get down with protein powder after buying Sun Warrior chocolate. Not about to waste the money so I'm going to choke it down.
@@crystallove1444 I feel like I can definitely hide it in smoothies. I’m going to try hiding it in oatmeal and nicream. 🤞🏼
@@candicec2294 I'll give that a shot - Thanks 😊
Glad you have one you like
You guys should try STEEL supplements they have a whole plant based line and their veg pro protein powders are my favorite! Best tasting for sure and texture they have tons of flavors and awesome
Macros!! My favs are the cookies and cream and hot cocoa! It’s
Like real Swiss miss with mini marshmallows all vegan 🌱💪🏼😻
Thanks for the tip
I appreciate knowing if it would affect my stomach, im having a hard time finding one that won't
By far my favorite is Nutrex Plant Based Protein Powder (Vegan). The smoothest best tasting one I've tried and I have tried most of them on the market. The German chocolate cake is awesome!!
We'll have to add it to the list to try in the future!
Where do you find that?
Kind of off topic.... I'm DYING for a ready-to-drink, vegan STRAWBERRY protein shake. They don't exist. 😩
Huel has a ready to drink Berry shake but it's more of a meal replacement than a true protein shake
@@DEM78976 thanks I'll check that out!
We'll have to look into it
Nuzest has a strawberry one that’s not terrible. When I used to drink whey, SFH had a GREAT strawberry one but now I use the nuzest cause was the next best thing. If you’re successful on your search, PLEASE SHARE!
Owyn has STAWBERRY BANANA - its good
Hi have you done a review on green powders or would you do one please
We haven't, but noted!
Thank you for making this video. I was on my way to buy Sun Warrior. Based on your review I bought the Orgain from Target and I love it. I love the taste of oatmeal. You all were spot on about the taste. Thank you because I am sure I would have wasted my money!!!
Overall are they healthy for your body (heart, liver etc.)? I’m looking for one that can help me with muscle build but also heart healthy
You'll have to make that decision, we just provide the options ;)
I’m always on the hunt for a good tasting and good blending vegan protein powder. I have tried all of those except Newzest and hated all of them. Without the whey that is typically used in non-vegan powders they just don’t blend well and taste awful in my opinion. I just found y’all and love your videos.
This is my problem too. My favorite was Nutrition 53 Lean1 (smoothie king uses this). But since going plant based and trying to make swaps, Even their vegan version is just way too chalky for my taste.
Interesting, we've never had any issues blending.
Just stick it in the nutri ninja- n no lumps or clumps. It’s great. In Ireland I haven’t see orgain so sun warrior for us
I don't plan to give up dairy completely, but If I'm making a shake, I might as well make it as healthy as possible.
Enjoy
have you guys ever tried gainful protein
I wanted to like the orgain because it was so affordable but it was so sweet and gritty made my teeth fuzzy or like I drank glass . I absolutely love the Truvani chocolate peanut butter it’s my all time fave . I actually found out about them when they had a promo for a free full size bag and I got hooked wish it was more affordable but imo it’s the best tasting and texture and simple ingredients so that’s a win win in my book just the price kinda hurts my pocket tried going back to orgain but I couldn’t.
What about Ka'Chava powder?
We'll have to look it up!
You should try Moo-Less protein powder. It’s new and I haven’t heard much about it
Thanks for the rec
What about vivo life protein powder?
Clean lean protein is the only one, and I have purchased every powder out there, that sits well in my stomach. Flavor is not a real issue to me. It's always how it sits in my belly and how does it make me feel. So by default it's my personal winner.
One of my favorite protein powders is the garden of life sport protein powder! It’s pretty on part with the orgain imo
Glad you enjoy it. Garden of Life is a Nestle brand now so we don't support them
@@MakeItDairyFree BRUh I did not know that, thanks for the info. I also try to be mindful of the companies I support with my money, gonna have to re-evaluate some things. Cheers!
@@MakeItDairyFree Nooooo! Why???? Damn you, Nestle! Damn you!!!!!!!
You two are so cute 😊 I've tried both of the protein powders that you reviewed first and didn't like either 🤷♀
ah darn!
I have been TRYING to find a replacement as good as the Nector vanilla bean protein powder since going vegan. Not just in flavor but smoothness ( no grit).
I found for 1 scoop, I would have to use 12-20 oz of plant based milk due to the sweetness in a blender bottle .
Hope you find one
