Had many a flight in a Chinook during my RAF service. I was a tactical comms officer based at RAF Brize Norton in the mid 80s and UKMF supported 7 and 33 Squadron on a regular basis. I did go to RAF Odiham but couldn't tell you if the game version of the base is representative, too long ago to remember. Loving this Miltech representation of this awesome chopper !! Only thing lacking to me is the vibration and shaking that this bird does when running, I spose that would be hard to animate though.
I hope you take this as intended and not that I’m picking holes. Your struggle with getting onto the deck smoothly was that you were massively over-controlling the aircraft. Make much smaller inputs, especially given that the aircraft is so stable in that phase of flight. Aim to approach astern (behind) and offset to port descending from about 250ft down to 150 as you come abeam (alongside). Pick your landing spot, and bring the aircraft into a nice hover along the ‘bum line’ and just settle for a minute, picking your datum on the AH for a neutral hover. The a slight command to the right to initiate the slide over the deck and your radalt should drop to about 40-50ft which puts you in ground effect with the deck, line yourself up with the centreline of the runway and imagine sitting on the ‘bum line’ and ease the collective (not power!) down until the aircraft settles. I’ve found you have to dump quite a lot of collective to get it on the ground which isn’t quite right. Also, landing on a moving ship is easier, so get yourself out to the Irish Sea! I hope this helps.
It absolutely does thanks! It's my third flight in the CH47D in the sim so I keep trying to improve each time, having a shed load of fun at the same time too 😂 going to try use those tips!
@@BritishAvgeek get yourself over to Shawbury, on the West of the airfield are two hangars and behind that is a patch of concrete. I use that to just hover at about 10-20 feet, practice sitting there for as long as your patience allows. Try slow hover taxis forward and backwards, progressing to left and right. Once you’ve got it cracked, try pedal turns on the spot left and right. I find all that small details practice really rewarding (because I am sad!).
Yeah a great bit of fun this is! Lots to learn and understand about it but equally easy to pick up and fly especially when we have a few fun missions included too, something different and also incredibly cool 😎
Very nice video. Agreed such a unique sound and the nooks are a special aircraft. Looks like they have done a good of representing the bird. I cant wait for the DCS version. Going to be practicing pinnacle landings on the roof if Trump tower haha
Great to hear you enjoying flying the Wokka Wokka. Next stop the Harrier? Or give DCS a go and put the F14, F/A18 or Harrier onto the Supercarrier. Great video as always
Great stuff. This is the 1st helicopter I’ve bought or flown in msfs. A lot of fun. Does anyone know what replay tool is used and what one shows the landing rate on top left?

Thank you for the great video! Love to see people using the missions
Appreciate the immensely fun CH47D!
Yeah we can all use some night vision goggles🤔That's actually a really good idea you should get somebody on that....
Excellent video, I am seriously considering purchasing the Chinook, thanks for sharing
If you do, check back in and let me know how you're finding it!
Your aviation enthusiasm knows no bounds. 👍👍👍
Looks like a lot of fun. I'm not into helicopters, but when you see something like
love the variation of MSFS2020

I love this so much. Also thanks for showing

Great video! How do you get the camera views in the back while you're flying? Seems seemless while you're narrating
@@lloydg4079 I've set up custom views so I still have to fly the Chinook but whilst in the custom view, flying and talking - bit of a handful 😅
I fly only VR is there a way to move the GPS to a better position its very hard to use were it is
Coming in today's update, option to move the GPS near the glareshield.
Hello cool video..What do you do for the exterior views from the aircraft carrier?
I use a replay tool and Drone camera :)

Thanks! I've got the F18 I think in DCS but just can't get my head around the millions of keybinds and combinations 😂
Would be good to do some group fliigs around the UK in this.
Been looking at ways to do it last week funnily enough, probably JoinFS or just MSFS multiplayer but Vatsim would likely be a no go 😅

Landing rate is a widget for Parallel 42 Flow Pro, and the replay is Flight Control Replay (both are payware)
Great, thanks! I have parallel 42 pro, and didn’t know about it! Loving all your vids! Thanks.
Hi, can you tell me what that circular doodad is and does? Link? Thx
What????
@@frodeskibrek while in the cockpit you popped up a circular menu with different options. Was wondering what it was. Thx
@@Mimiclobster No clue what is was. Probably something magic....
It's Parallel 42s Flow Pro which then has custom widgets in it
@@BritishAvgeek Thank you!
is this on xbox as well
Coming in a few weeks
@@miltechsimulations cool camt wight
Would love if they added the civilian passenger variant
Is this coming to Xbox?
Yes, in a few weeks.
