    Two great websites to use to get parts, or verify part numbers (including oil filters) for your car:

    www.scuderiaautoparts.com
    Again, part number for a DRY SUMP 4.2L is 188814.
    WET SUMP oil filter is 289571.
    Oil weight is 5W-40 synthetic.
    Oil capacity is 10.5 liters, or 11 quarts.
    Would highly recommend you pour in 9.5 liters or 10 quarts first, than let the engine warm up, shut it off, and check level again via dipstick.

    Just wondering, I thought that we check oil level with engine running?

      A fair question, but no, always with engine off. Even in the case of the uncommon dry sump oiling system.

      @@tadsworkshop Tad, I am a part of the Masarati Life Forums. I know I read you could leave engine running, however, I have never left an engine running when checking oil. Thank you for clarifying over 40 years of wrenching experience I thought it was ironic.

    good video, great explaining. I just bought my first Quattroporte, it's also a 2005, I was looking for a video on the fill for the transmission fluid and came across this video, keep up the good work. your expertise is appreciated.

      Manuel, did you find your transmission fill in the trunk under all the trunk interior and insulation like I did? It was crazy the Italians would put it in the trunk. I am one of them however, I like engineering common sense solutions, lol.

    Love the video ! Also want to ask if you could do a video on the fuel filter . We have a 07 quattroporte and having trouble starting it . Battery is brand new, light turn on and everything , it just won’t crank over . I need to pull The F1 fuel relay and check that before I replace fuel filter or something else major .

As far as the fuel filter, I’ll have to look into it a bit more, but I believe it is non-serviceable, or essentially one and the same with the fuel pump module. I could be wrong, but that design is common these days. To be clear, it sounds like your car cranks over fine, but does not fire up?

    any ideas whats the other faults of these if I went with the zf gearbox?

      @@dejavoo1234 I own a nearly identical car to this. I’ve had no issues with the duoselect/F1 yet. A lot of people complain about the clutch and expense of replacing it. I have 52k miles and determined clutch is around 65 percent. I’ll be doing that job myself when that day comes. But for me, it will be years from now. It’s certainly not as smooth as a ZF car. i think the ZF is ultimately more reliable. I’m expecting sensors and things to fail on this F1 eventually. The F1 is more of an enthusiasts choice. I’ve also seen rumors of someone converting an F1 to true manual operation.

    The location of that filter is really a PITA

      @@goddesseddog it is. But I’ve definitely seen a lot worse on other cars. 2007-2013 turbocharged Mini Coopers are a pain. That’s just one example off the top of my head.

    Tad, great clarification on the dry sump, I have an 06 Mas GT Executive. Thank you! The prior owner installed the 289571 oil filter for wet sump. It to was extremely difficult to remove, almost epoxied seemed like. I purchased a special 3 prong burred oil filter 3/8" socket wrench insert removal tool from Amazon, it worked fantastic! The more I wrenched counter clockwise the tighter it grabbed.
