This guide was extremely useful . Thanks a lot for this. Often in my games I shift walk to an angle and see and enemy and have to commit to crouch spraying and I cannot do anything . This helped a lot
"counter strafing" isnt actually in Valorant at all , atleast not in the way people think The entire idea of "counter strafing" in CSGO was that while strafing, pressing a movement key in the opposite direction would cause you to come to a stop /faster/ than you would have, had you simply let go of your strafe key. But in Valorant this mechanic is essentially non existent. Multiple people have done the actual frame counting with precise artificial movement inputs and counting frame by frame they found that there is absolutely no discernable difference in stopping speed between 'counter strafing' and simply letting go of your movement key. And this is the case for alot of the more intricate mechanics that are such a main staple in CS like bhopping and server tick rates. All these mechanics in Valorant have been purposely tuned in such a way that they are relatively easy to pick up and understand for a beginner , without the slurry of arbitrary secondary movement properties that they dont outright tell you about, and would inevitably impact your performance in the longrun. But as a concluding statement id just like to say that Yes, doing this in game does give you a very slight advantage in the fact that you are more consistently *on the move* but it does /NOT/ give you an advantage in *stopping speed* which is the whole reason its even called "counter strafing" at all , as you're countering the effects of strafing. But yea, any perceived advantage in stopping speed from practicing this sort of thing is you simply gaining experience and understanding of the games actual movement mechanic timing and being rewarded for it *because* its consistent and straightforward.
I know its 2022 now but for a beginner player here, this helps a lot. I play call of duty warzone and I was jumping while shooting here in valorant and was very confused why i was not hitting my targets. thank you very much

I have been doing this unconsciously after watching Wardell, Hiko, Tenz streams. I just copied their movements. Now I can understand their movements deeper and become better. Thank you.
@@godstreakgaming9489 Are they constantly making counter strafe? And what moves did you copy? I hit the a and keys well to lighten them but am I doing it wrong. because doing so breaks the lis intent.
That's kinda the point to strafe. If you strafe you either get 0 bullets in you or 2. If you do then just strafe to safety because most of the time you should strafe with a wall near you.
i thought of smthn for cntr strfng, first strafe, for example, to left with A, and just when u have to strafe to right, meaning pressing D, hold them both, shoot a 2 burst, and release A, then when u have strafed enough to the right, hold A and D together again and shoot a 2 burst, and then release D. Its cuz when u hold both together, the game makes u stand still allowing u to be just as accurate as standing still but the advantage is that u don't have to think a lot abt holding one key and releasing another and only have to release a directional key instead of shifting between the two keys.
@@anupamasingh2954 its been proven that counter strafing doesnt slow you down any faster than simply releasing the strafe key so its not required at all. His technique may help you a bit with your timing though. its preference
thanks a lot. i came from cs and have always been used to counter strafing, but when i came to valorant i was not exactly sure if counter strafing is even a thing in valo, this video finally proved it thanks a lot! 10% faster confirmed
The main problem now is too many players on enemy side are swinging angles so hard and hit headshot without even counter strafing or stop. Don't know if they are too lucky its just Tenz smurfing.
thank you for all these guides once I'm comfortable with every mechanic I will be able be more creative with how play and be able to focus more on my possioning and game sense thanks again!
7:52 that was very helpful, im new to the game and i havent played csgo i only played cod and bullets are still accurate when you ads and strafing, which is way too different when shooting, and compared to cod your crosshair wont raise because of recoil but rather its the gun barrel trajectory. Ive been practicing counterstrafing a lot but i still cant seem to get it, and now i found out the reason why, i got wrong crosshair which is the dot only and no Movement error. I used dot only sincr its very clean when playing and thats my biggest mistake ever. If these settings were not adress as wrong I would still be confused and cant understand how to counter strafe
5:26 seems a bit off. Movement error is not there on both sides at 51 seconds. Yet the person on the left shoots slower than they could’ve. In fact the timestamps prove that just releasing the key instead of tapping the key in the opposite direction has the same time to no movement error
Counter strafing muscle memory form CS actually HUGELY messes up first shot accuracy for me. Character stops so quickly in VALORANT, that I tend to start moving opposite direction and then shoot, completely dumping any accuracy. It's so bad, I'm actually trying to get rid of counter strafing habit altogether :( Also there are numerous posts saying, people did hardware benchmarks with slowmo recordings and made sure there are virtually no difference between just stopping and countering the strafe.
I wouldnt, i tried that for season and my movement felt rlly bad. I think its cuz when u want to get out of a standstill, you would have to PERFECTLY time letting go of both a and d (which is tough). If u dont let them both perfectly, u could move in a direction you dont want to go in
A and D at the same time would just cancel each other out. It would be the same thing as just letting go of the key without going the opposite direction to slow down faster.
inaccuracy: at 5:22 it says counterstrafing is 10% faster then strafe shooting. but when you take the system of 60 sec in a min 10 sec is not 10% it is more then 10%. Maybe not a big problem but something to keep in mind @skillcapped ;)

pretty much, i try and not use it in the open, less likely to get tagged, im assuming you already figured this out since its been a year lol. but thats just what i do
Hey can u just hold the different key? i mean u said quick press d after moving with a but cant i just move with a and hold d together to stop? and let a go if i want to move to the right side?
I stop pressing a and keys at the same time. and I shoot. My fingers are used to it. but I don't know if this is a disadvantage. While pressing a d point-and-shoot is difficult for my fingers, they are not used to it. But now, what I'm doing by holding down two keys is advantageous to stop by pressing d while pressing a? I will train accordingly. Thanks.
For me, during a match, I have to stand still for like 5 seconds before my bullets become accurate again. Not only that, but I get instant headshot or get hit in the body and can't step side ways far enough
