Fortune Flavours visits Huen Jai Yong in chiang Mai

Today we visit a very special place on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. A teakwood house from the Lanna Kingdom that has stood for hundreds of years. The location now serves as a restaurant and art gallery with areas of the original household preserved to serve as a museum. It really is like nowhere else I have visited in Thailand and really gives a feel of what it was like to live in a family home before Northern thailand became a modern city. I learned so much just from walking around the spaces and the food they serve is absolutely delicious. Huen Jai Yong specialises in Northern Thai dishes such as Aeb Pla and Gai Muang Nung, baked fish and steamed herbal chicken. S much to take in and a perfect way to spend an afternoon...
