It is important to view an individual not on what he fights for, by why he fights for something.
Most western "red army fans" are fans because its a meme or because they have a romanticized view of soviet Russia.

@@Martina-Kosicanka I said it because I'm from germany and most of the words in the song are singabel in german without an accent. Most other songs are sung in a way that isn't singable without an accent or have many words with letters you can't pronouce without an accent.

I might have heard the version by Shabutsky S. but I'm not sure. @@OmnistarEast It seems the actual version by Shabutsky S. isn't on that site, but the amount of VIA Kaskad recordings is crazy. And yes, Tankist became Kaskad I believe in 1982/83 since around 1983 or so all Kaskad songs had Kaskad and not Tankist.

probably means like doesn't matter how new he is he is shitty, or something, im not completely fluent in russian so take what i say with a grain of salt
it means that he does not know the local realities. he has no combat experience. most likely, this means a young lieutenant who has just been released from a military school. who is stupid enough to send his soldiers to their deaths
I'm not sure, but I think it may be referencing the idea that older and more experienced commanders are typically severe and more jaded than someone who was recently promoted.

In those songs they mostly refer to the AKM rifles including the folding version AKMS, but I cant recall hearing about the AK 74 in any soviet Afghan war song

People had the ak 74 mostly in the special forces because it was relatively new back then, the normal troops had 7.62x39
The AK74 is already widely issue to the Soviet army started in late 70s but the word AKM fit more for a song

The AK-74 was dully adopted by the time Afghanistan started and AKMS were actually preferred because the AKM was the only AK with silencer capability other than the AKS-74U which is harder to control and with a less widespread silencer.

7.62x39 ballistics is better in mountains, that’s why they pulled out old guns. Silencers, in fact, exited for both AKM and AK-74.
