- Among the few additional pieces of post game content available in Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Battle Tower has always had some sort of representation throughout almost every yearly release. Generation 8's Battle Tower has a brand new ranking system, but what does it take to get to the top? Today we're going to find out how easily you can get the Masterball Rank in Pokemon Sword and Shield's Battle Tower! When the game first dropped I kept hyping up Dracovish because I love his design, but all my friends thought he looked stupid. There will be no mercy for them when the fishious reckoning comes

I mean I have almost 3/4 of the pokedex and only 46 hours, and I could be faster if I knew what I was doing
It's going to be even easier for John because he has both versions of the game
And as there's no Pokémon home yet that means that all pokemon are obtainable without having to migrate from other games
This is, I'm pretty sure, the second easiest game to complete the dex because of the cut
The easiest being Gen 1 because well there's only 151 pokemons and the most difficult to obtain, mew, is easily obtainable with a glitch

@@gumball2253 pretty sure I caught pretty much everything just a couple pokemons left
If you do raids you get candy and if you evolve the pokemons you caught before you don't have to catch many pokemons in the wild area
Plus the ones you have to catch that are den or weather specific are easy because as of now there are exploits to change the pokemons in dens, making gigantamax hunting pretty fast and whether changing just needing a bit of rng on your side
Im using a drizzle pelipper with u-turn to set up rain for dracovish's onslaught. STAB and Strong Jaw not enough for a 170 power attack? Add another 50% boost for rain.

How easily can you catch every pokémon in max raid battles?
Unless they're gmax pretty easily. I catch all my pokemon in pokeballs, and my favorite mon in premiere balls.

I was about to type that too. That instantly came into my head.
They're extremely powerful, but not invincible.
To be fair, I'd rather fight the fossil Pokemon rather than Chancey and Mega Sableye stall teams.
It's like asking to die a quick painless death or a long excruciatingly painful death.

@4:40 Having seen footage of this in practice, I'm fairly certain the Choice Scarf (and any Choice item) does NOT apply when Dynamaxed. Most notably from the fact that Pokemon which wouldn't outspeed normally do outspeed it Dynamaxed.
I've been playing with the Dracovish rented from you and the only pokemon I couldn't OHKO was Leon's Aegislash so far Thanks so much for sharing

I found this really straight forward. I rented out the rain team and used Pelipper (lead), Barraskewda, and Raichu in singles, and Pelipper (lead), Ludicolo (lead), Barraskewda, and Raichu in doubles. Definitely the easiest rendition of the battle tower so far imo

I love THIS version of Pokémon Sword and Shield's as you don't have to worry about losing your victory streak, pretty much making Galar Battle Tower, essentially an Endless Mode of Battles. My team for Pokémon Sword is Rillaboom, Cinderace, Inteleon, and Zacian-Crowned Sword, as my starters can Gigantamax as well. I prefer SwSh's Battle Tower over Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearls Sinnoh Battle Tower, as that game is WAY more punishing, as you can only win consecutively, without losing once, whereas Galar is easily more forgiving if you lose, as you don't lose your victory streak at all. I once got up to 10k victories in both Singles and Double Battles in the Galar Battle Tower, and it took me about 2 whole years since those games came out, and I LOVED the whole experience of it all!
I don't even have a Switch yet, just love your video's John! xD

this is NUTS!! I may not be calcing this correctly. But Fishious Rend's total power is 383!?!?! After accounting for STAB, outspeeding and it's ability. starts at 85, if it outspeeds, base power is 170, stab puts it at 255, then its ability puts it at 383. someone correct me on what the total power is if I'm wrong

Personally, I used Aegeslash the whole tower as my sweeper. I maxed out attack and divided def and sp def with evs. I also made it as slow as I could so that sacred sword would go second if I needed it. It also had for its moves, King shield, swords dance, shadow sneak, and sacred sword. Just bump the atk stat to max and OHKO every pokemon with shadow sneak or swap back to shield form and use sacred sword second to do max damage.
Ever since starting and completing my living dex and getting into shiny hunting in ultra sun I've always wanted to try out competitive pkm, this seems like the best game go finally do so.
When I first saw Dracovish I was just like, okay I'll get you for Dex completion and never use you. After seeing this however I downloaded the team and laughed as everything just melted to this things move. I lost a few times but overall I got to Master Rank so easy that it's not even funny. And I got all the extra stuff I needed to help my wife out with her game as well so hey! Thanks for the guide and team!

Tapu-fini & Dialga carried me all the way to completing masterball tier in the battletower. Both cover each other's weaknesses so well and offer coverage in turn.

Tbh I just used the borrowed Pokemon from the skill set, Gyarados, Falinks and Grimmsnarl.
Gyarados has dragon dance which you get use once or twice to go for the sweep and take out Leon’s charizard a joke. Falinks has a choice scarf and no retreat that buffs all it’s stats but gets rid of its ability to switch out, which when combined with Gigantamax close combat makes it an unstoppable buffed machine. Grimmsnarl is a decent wall with bulk up and leftovers which definitely helps too.
It’s not as OP as Dracovish is but it got me through with a few loses

Which I was unable to reach 'cause I am just not that good.
You can do this twice with singles and double to get the rewards for both. This is also easily done with the rental teams the game gives you. The rain team for doubles and the skill team for singles are very easy to win with. Especially because you can dynamax your own Pokémon and the only other dynamax Pokémon is Leon’s gmax charizard that is easily OHKO’d by both teams, especially because it’s max fire moves don’t set sun.
Also there is a guy with renting teams, i made it to master in both singles and doubles (singles: set up with duraludon lead (screensetter) and kommo-o/legios and gyrados and in doubles the rain and trickroom teams are equally good, i tried both and started to prefer trickroom over rain, but that‘s personal preference.
The guy is found in the battle tower to the right behind the reception thingy and his teams are available to you offline, so you dont have to train or buy switch online either (if you would do so for the sole purpose of renting teams)

Before watching this, I used a team consisting of mainly a Baton Passing Ninjask, G-max Charizard, and most importantly a sweeping Dracovish to get to Master ball rank. Quite a coincidence that I found this vid that talks about Dracovish’s value in the Battle tower.

Rain team rental allows for easy wins (peliper baraskewda ferrothorn riachu) in doubles
and tough team rental (snorlax mainly, mimkyu and dreepy) make for pretty easy wins as well

My team for the battle tower is Rotom-H, Duraludon, Mimikyu. all of them max ivs and evs with their respective competitive builds. they pretty much brought me up to master ball rank with no losses. it was fun!
Liar. You cannot get “max” EVs. You are only allowed to max TWO stats only not max all. If you’re going to lie make sure not to make it too obvious :).

I just won a battle using the team in the vid. Dracovish went down,but Zacian cleaned house after it
I'd actually recommend using a sticky web pokemon and having a choice band on Dracovish. with the -1 speed on opponents, a 252 speed EV dracovish can outspeed most pokemon, even being about to outspeed the likes of Barraskewda and Jolteon aslong as they don't have a +speed nature.
additionally, Choice band allows Dracovish to deal with pokemon that would otherwise wall it out. Most notably Adamant banded dracovish being able to 2HKO Ferrothorn, even after leftovers.

The digging duo near the nursery in the wild area can give you fossils, make sure to use the skilled one, not the stamina one.

You can actually just rent your team. Pick the one with gengar togekiss and haxorus. Lead with haxorus, press dragon dance and if thats not enough dmax togekiss. Works even in master ball tier.
Do we need the online membership to do anything on pokemon? like raids with others or trading?
The mimikyu in the tough rental team carried me through singles all the way to the max rank, decoy + a free swords dance is very broken in the battle tower.

Rented the team and there were some difficulties but seemed to be working at first but near the top of the pokeball their it started losing left and right and getting one hit ko'ed. Now I'm all the way back down to the initial rank of pokeball teir and never made it past to the next teir.
EDIT: Well I guess 2nd times the charm, everything went smoothly 2nd time. No idea but now I'm at great ball teir.

first time doing the battle tower in any pokemon really, might have done a few battles at some point here and there but nothing I can remember. I just used one of the teams you can lend and ended up having a flawless run in singles
Previous games: win 50 battles of increasing difficulty in a row while battling legendary trainers every 10 fights while gaining increasing amounts of BP with a missive influx of BP for clearing the 50th battle
Sw/Sh: You get 2 BP per fight, can only battle 10 trainers in a row, and get nothing at the end. You want a new nature mint? Fight the battle tower 3 times scrub
Such a terrible system I literally can't bring myself to grind out matches for items even though that was my main pass-time in Sun and Moon, rating it a 1/10, at least the initial rewards are half decent
Honestly it's not just your Dracovish that made this challenge so easy. The battle tower in Galar is kinda stupidly easy compared to Battle Maison and Battle Tree of recent generations.
I spent a bit longer on team building because I wanted to breed to absolutely perfect IVs, and didn't know they removed the cap on vitamin use, but still after only one day I had a team that could sweep the entire tower singles no problem, first try
