Sing Again Community Choir - Sampler March 2024

Hi, I’m Sylvia, I’m a community song leader, and my mission is to liberate and unite voices in imperfect harmony! Here is a compilation of video clips from my Sing Again community choir recorded in March 2024. We are a diverse group, from beginners looking for a safe space to explore their voice, to those interested in harmonizing by ear, to seasoned choristers interested in an informal space free from the confines of sheet music. On some songs, I teach harmony parts by ear, and on other songs, we let the harmonies arise organically. Three or four times a year we have a “Big Sing” gathering, rather than a concert, where anyone can join us and sing along. It’s not about getting it right, it’s about the joy and connection of singing in community.
I am a proud graduate of the Community Choir Leadership Training program, with the Ubuntu Choir Network in Victoria (with ​⁠‪@thegettinhigherchoir8002‬). I am based in Nanoose Bay, and I host three weekly “Sing Again” groups in Nanaimo, Nanoose Bay and Parksville, with occasional events in Victoria.
