    You have a barn full of Arabs because you understand them! Unless you’re deep in the Arab industry…a lot of trainers don’t want to deal with them because it’s easier to work a horse that you can tell, instead of ask. From an Arab owner😊. Thank you for your training techniques!!

    Shazam is my favorite horse. I love how he peeks over at you when you are in the wash rack! He is a beautiful horse! Race horses get their legs wrapped with vinegar and cayenne pepper so they won’t chew the bandages. I’ve never tried it. I did put vinegar and cayenne pepper on the wood fences and my horse stopped chewing them.

    Underwood works wonders on the worst injuries. I have treated injuries from flying debris in tornadoes that heal completely without tremendous scaring.

    You can really see the concern he has in his expression with mounting / dismounting but he really does calm and relax as the video progresses. I didn't realize KS was an issue in Arabians too. I guess no breed is immune to it.

    Beautiful horse. You talked about a topic that I have been especially interested in i.e. horses shifting from fear about doing something to the attitude shifting to “ I don’t want to do it, because I don’t.” I have struggled at times to identify the shift. Sometimes it seems there is a mixture of both. I have used PF proud flesh with good results. It dries and sticks on. Really appreciate your horse training methods. So much better and easier on the horse and human.

    Giving Shazam time to learn he is ok after surgery is great. He was in a lot of pain....before surgery so now he can use his body without hating every move....and a rider will not hurt or make it worse! Conditioning too will help! Glad his leg is ok....

    Is Shazam being mounted from the ground because the owner requested this specific type of training? Or will mounting block training be included?🤔

    • @timandersonhorsetraining
      @timandersonhorsetraining  13 днів тому +20

      Because he is worried about being mounted we know he will move around some. I don't want him to associate the mounting block with the worry. When the worry goes away we will add the mounting block.

    Is the kissing spine surgery permanent or does it tend to come back like our human spine problems?

      Pretty horse. Nice job Robert, so calm and quiet. I am wondering if the owner will have to ride him in a different saddle than she/he was using before the surgery?

  • @user-wq9yy9pk5i

    I remember him peeking over the top while videoing other horses. How long does it take to heal and recover from that type of surgery

    Do you think mounting from the opposite side would have less association for the pain? Thanks from NZ

    • @timandersonhorsetraining
      @timandersonhorsetraining  12 днів тому +6

      Maybe, maybe not. The issue with mounting from the other side is I do not know if this horse was ever broke to mounting on that side, and right now we need to focus on fixing the kissing spine issue and not cloud that issue with starting something new. 1 thing at a time.

    Why isn't Robert using the mounting block? And why isn't he mounting on both sides?

  • @joannam9232
    @joannam9232 11 днів тому

    Have you mentioned why Robert is grabbing the side of the halter when he mounts and dismounts? Is that in case he bucks? Is that a technique that you recommend?

    • @timandersonhorsetraining
      @timandersonhorsetraining  10 днів тому

      It's to get some bend so that they go in a circle if they move. I use the rein or lead rope because my arms are a lot shorter than Robert's. Techniques like that you have to figure out what works best for you.

    How do you determine if it is defiance vs fear of pain

    • @timandersonhorsetraining

      It's pretty easy to tell if you pay attention to the horse. If you saw the video of Cupcake not wanting me to get on and compare that to this one the posture of the horses is totally different.

      Arabians can be a little bit 'dancy,' if they haven't been started ( broken in properly)...They are very beautiful, highly Intelligent , loyal, gentle and sensitive horses, famous for their close connection to humans...they are renowned for their strength of bone and endurance qualities over huge distances, and must be treated with the respect they deserve and a relaxed gentle hand on the reins...When you ride an Arabian, the experience is likened to riding on a cloud...
      They're so light under saddle that you hardly know you have a horse underneath you!.....its a wonderful experience...I've had several different horse breeds...thoroughbreds, quarter horses, etc.etc..all very lovely horses, but riding and Arabian can take your breath away !...☁️ 🐎
