He's somewhere between broke and unbroke.

  • There are lots of videos out there getting the first ride on a horse and lots on more advanced maneuvers but there is very little about this stage. He's not unbroke but he isn't really broke either, he's somewhere between. This is probably the most important saddle time of this horse's life. Beginning to teach the foundation that everything will build from.

I've trained. horses successfully all my life, retired now and just enjoying my own horse. I've seen the "trainers" out there and for the most part they make me sick. I watch your videos every time you post one. Your approach and technique is the way it should be done.Thank you for putting the horse first. Whoever runs your video camera is doing a great job, too!

I don't consider this boring at all.
I enjoy the way you explain about what you, and the horse, are doing.
I also enjoy the way you talk to the horse.
I know you probably don't do it when you're not filming, it's still fun to hear.
    Thanks Tim

When I'm filming I'm basically just saying what I'm thinking. Last week we finished filming one horse and I kept saying what I was thinking, I forgot to turn that off. 🤣

your methods are so relaxing to watch and listen to- so clear, calm and consistent-no wonder the horses are so responsive to you - again thank you for sharing.

He looks like he has a calm mind with a kind disposition, I’ll take that all day long even if they are slow to learn or get soft.

He’s naturally calm. Doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He’s just introverted and 👀 everything.

This horse is..well appears to me to be Just like my Antelope Valley mustang. I have not actually rode him per say..sat on him several times and got some yielding circles then ended that ride..was the same for 4 more so called rides - but he is in no hurry to go anywhere..the 5th ride he realized that "walk" with me on him ment the same as "walk" in ground work..this video is helpful because ground drivinf he is the same just lays into the pressure when he doesn't want to - its been why I've been hesitant to go any further..He is low energy, curious, lazy, even his little "ooh, what was that" he will extend as little energy as possible - now I can see that i can just keep walking with him til he softens - happy I found this video (I know enough to know if I mess up i could possibly create a real problem that I wont be able to fix and that possibly wouldnt even be fair to ask someone else to try to fix - I so want to do this right the 1st time). (I'dsend him off, but who I would trust is so far away from me it doesn't seem feasible!) thanks for this video!

Once this fella connects legs, seat, and hands, he will be on his way. It just takes positive handling with a lot of patience. Good trainers can see and feel all the transitions. The basics like this are so important. It's going to be interesting to see him follow cows! I have seen him get his haunches under him pretty quick. Once his mind clicks, I think his owner will be a happy owner!

I’m really excited to see about the cows. He really needed Tim. His style fits Kiowa perfectly.

Just amazing how you take a wild horse off the range and train him and make a real partner. They will accept so much if you take it slow and easy.
