    Just for clarification, a 1 year residency is not required prior to beginning practice as a PT. Residencies are completed in preparation for board certification in specialized areas of practice like orthopedics, sports, geriatrics, etc. DPT students typically spend 40-45 weeks during their graduate studies doing clinical education (hands on practice) that prepares them to practice as independent clinicians upon graduation and passing the national board exam. Enjoyed the video!

    looks like physical therapist don't make as much even with a doctorates degree. The debt you will have after the 7-8 years of schooling with be in the hundred thousand dollar range, and only making 83,000 doesn't seem a lot, especially paying off that big of a debt. Also including the difficulty of PT school the salary at the end doesn't seem worth it. If anyone has comments on my post feel free to do so if I'm leaving anything out or getting something wrong

      +Buttery Jack Can you become a PT without a doctorate? If so how much can you expect to make?

    • @butteryjack8896
      @butteryjack8896 8 років тому +1

      ShawnandStefan No you have to get your doctorates to become a PT. All i'm saying is that you don't get the same amount of salary as a regular Doctor or a registered nurse would, even though you learn all of how the body functions just like they do. So to me i don't know why being PT would be optimal. Maybe because the interaction between patients is different then being a doctor of registerd nurse. But that's what i'm saying, if I'm saying something wrong or misinterpreting something I would love a reply back.

      I’m doing my undergrad rn I’m exercise and sport science and then when i graduate i will go to pt school and will graduate with less than 50k in debt :) it’s definitely possible as long as you choose the correct schools! Do dual credit in high school and take summer classes! It’s definitely possible! :)

    Man I love that my dream jobs salary has hardly grown for 7 years. For every 1% increase they gain the tuition cost rises 2%. That’s not even considering inflation.

    do I need to learn a lot of math for this job? no right?

    • @RegisteredNurseRN
      @RegisteredNurseRN  8 років тому

      +Cristian Luna You probably have to take some math courses as pre-reqs. I would check out a program you want to attend because many programs post online exactly what classes you have to take (this will give you an idea on what math classes you have to take). Hope that helps!

      Hey Elizabeth Parra. I am a senior in High School who is looking to become a PT. I also live in Texas. I live in Houston, Texas. What college did you go to attend to become a PT. Also what do you think is a good salary to have to live comfortably in Texas. I have always wondered about this because I want to go to college and pursue a career that will keel me stable. Thanks and hope you reply.
