OMG You're Back! So happy to see you guys again, Sadly I was about to go to bed too :( Theres always time for some interesting Citroen content, but I was hoping for Mosquito! cheers from Australia!
Thanks for posting this. You guys put those tires on easier than some people do with bicycle tires. Nice to know the 2CV tires are tubeless and don’t need balancing.
Great video, the new wheels look good. I'll be interested to find out how the new tyres affect the handling and ride. I also agree with your comment about the pedants out there who tell us what we should do with our cars.
The official wheels were manufactured by Michelin and then Mefro Wheels (who bought the factories). The moulds were sold to Mehari club cassis. I don't know about other manufacturers like Renov2cv. Years ago, I had bought a pair painted pink grey at TPV2CV and they rusted quickly :(
My Honda Accord came new with made in USA Continentals. Since they performed well I bought four more at about 80,000 miles (130,000 km). Three of them were also made in USA, but one was made in Romania. All four tires have performed the same. The current ones are a "new and improved" model, they look like they will make 100,000 miles (160,000.km). My Corvair has 13 inch wheels, choices are very limited and are special order.
Sorry to hear about your Grandfather Oliver and may I hazard a guess that you are wearing his watch which I find touching as a watch is personal and fitting memento/connection, I do like the way the Dyane looks, my initial thoughts was that the car could be called the 'Wedgewood' as the colour combination of said Wedgewood China company. Sorry I missed your videos as I have been in the wilderness lately, at least my head feels like it, may I wish you guys and the rest of the family an even keel (I hope that makes sense) and weather waht life throws at you. D
I believe Dyane wheels were painted silver from factory (at least that’s what the seller of my Dyane said). So mine are silver as well, same color as the bumpers.
This was mostly to find an explanation for why you are seeing so many Dyanes with silver wheels, I’m not judging your choice of wheels and wheel colors in any way 😅
The Serbian Michelines. Oh yeah. I remember them. I am in the Serbian Citroen Club and people who live there told me how Michelin tyres for 2cv were being made but all of the order was shipped to France. Few years later one of my friends went on a 2cv meeting in Spain and found from those tyres being sold there. They arent bad tyres by any means, they are just not available everywhere. Michelin probably made the orders from Serbia due to lower cost of the employees.
How much are they nowdays? Im planning to get some for my 2cv but Im thinking about the price and the shipping cost🤔 Some of the tyres I have were made in Yugoslavia😂
@@OliverPickard 🤣🤣 surprisingly they were good, but apparently I drove over a nail or something and I had to use the spare. But still if I find new ones for good price and low shipping cost its on my list👍 I did found a company that is supposed to have them or supply them, but they never have them in stock. Michelin tyres are awesome, but Ive seen online cheaper variants from Nankang, which of course I would consider if Michelins arent available...Anyway, greetings from Macedonia👋
In my experience getting the old tyre off is a lot harder than putting them on! I have an Ami, which I am running on Chines or Jap michelin look a like .Certainly the ride is a LOT harder on account of the side walls.
How much are these ventilated wheel compared to the OEM type? Being as you have inboard brakes the holes aren't for cooling them. Point taken about unsprung weight but the holes might let more dirt get in around the king pins etc. The wheels do suit the Dyane nicely. Note: I see that one of the jacking points or at least the adjacent chassis, looks crushed. Was that a garage's fault?
Hi Del I've missed your comments. You'd be shocked how filthy 2cv wheels get despite the inboard front brakes, to be honest I'm a bit on the fence about the effect of the holes as they probably let a decent amount of trapped air escape the arch especially at the front. The wheels are roughly the same price and I've never used the jacking points on the sills but they are rust free which is all that really matters
@@OliverPickard I'm not really one for washing the inside of my wheels but with these new ones I'd consider a couple of coats of a good ceramic wax inside and out. A good trail of cavity wax around the centre to rim joint a good idea too. You can be generous on the inside as it won't be noticed but the wax on the outside can obviously be wiped away for the most part. Sill @ 26:07
@@OliverPickard It's for me to say Welcome Back. Not been much to comment on lately. We hope you will get back into the swing of things but life and family always come first.
Good video, thanks! New wheels look good and weight saving always a bonus. I think they give the car a little of a Peugeot Rallye vibe! Interesting to see the tyres being fitted without any levers, etc. What’s the best method for removing existing worn tyres? It will be interesting to hear feedback on how the new tyres compare in terms of ride and handling, etc. compared to the Michelins.
Did I get this right, those 125 tires last about 25000 km? And there is no need to balance wheel? I don't understand why there is no need to balance wheels. If you can please explain, im curious. Thank you!
@@OliverPickard I will have to find an old photo!! Ami Supers did have slots in the rim, but now I'm doubting myself, the shape of the holes is not exactly the same!!!!
It did indeed have slots but they are a slightly different shape and that's why I suspect the characteristics of the wheels to be different and more GS like but there's not a whole lot of info out there
@@OliverPickard Tried searching my various books, Ami Super had slotted wheels on the later models, in a 3 year run!! 135 X 15 tyres fitted. Not much I info!!! I ran my 2CV on 135 Mich. Snow tyres, and 125s on the rear. Gave it a hint of drift!!!! Super grip in snow and on wet roads. Some other big Citroen cars ran with a size narrower at the back.
Sorry, this wheels are not original, it is made in China. and it is like for AMI Super not Dyane or 2CV... Watch for holes on road... will not last long...
Oliver I love your advise and your videos but I wish you wouldn't say gotten, it's a horrible word which has been brought back into the English language by the Americans. Don't take it to heart and speak as you wish but I am 80 years old and it grinds with me and many other older people. Thanks for the vids
My condolences for the loss of your Grandfather. It’s wonderful to see you back and great to know there is some Mosquito content coming soon 👍
Thank you so much, Mosquito same time next week 👍🏻
The new white wheels definitely look better than the old silver ones on the Dyane. 😁👍
I never thought of fitting the tyres on my 2cv myself. You made it look simple. Cheers
Sorry to hear about your granddad but it's good to see you back.
"Didn't miss a beat!"
Classic
Good to see you back 👍🏼
Thanks 👍🏻
Welcome back, the white wheels look so much better!
Good to see you both back! Nice job with the new wheels. The Dyane looks like it got new shoes. 🎉
Great to have you both back again Sorry to hear of the loss in your family
Thank you

Hi guys, great to see you back. Great video. Think the wheels look great. Love them.
Thanks Paul it's good to be back
Great to see a new video pop up. Fantastic stuff.
Good to see you back and I do like the new wheels!
Nice. I've seen wheels like that on 2cv in my country. 👍

There's a lot in Europe for a 13 as everything used them for decades but I guess in the states its slim pickings

Hello David long time no speak. It would appear that the vast majority of Dyane6 were patrel blue. We are doing well thanks for the kind words

Have you ever tried the zip tie trick to get the tire over the rim super fast and easy?
I've heard of it but never tried it
You can mount a set of 135 maximum! I have those on my Mehari 4x4

Correct on both accounts and that's on my rough and twisty roads. It's mostly to do with just how narrow the wheels are
23.57 in.....can see that the wheel rim is bent...damaged
Ami Super wheels, are they a bit wider? than standard.
Identical to standard wheels but listed as Dyane>Mehari not Ami Super

colour of the wheels should be sky blue pink with yellow dots. That should sort the moners out 😂😂😂😅😅
Can the birdies get in and ok with those new doors?
The house martins haven't haven't figured it out yet but everything else has
What is the correct torque spec?
For the wheels....? tight its not an f1 car
More of the pocket rocket
Next week
Sorry, this wheels are not original, it is made in China. and it is like for AMI Super not Dyane or 2CV... Watch for holes on road... will not last long...
Time will tell and I have a good stock of original wheels just in case
Thank goodness, proper info from somebody that understands about Citroen A series!
Dont Dyane need 135 Michelin XS ?
My AK have 135 XS.....so do my 2cv 😂
No 125 for 2cv and Dyane.135 is taller and better on the motorway but can also feel sluggish compared to 125s. The AK has them for the weight
