Unite Humanity - Shape Society
The climate change was a catalyst for a sucession of events that led to the destruction of our world; rising sea levels have innundated the coasts. Only you can help humanity survive by leading your band of survivors on a path to redemption. Starting with a lost bunch of survivors, you need to scavange resources, rediscover technology and maintain the peace between differing factions as you strive to rebuild society.
Explore and Exploit
The world - as you know it - has gone, replaced by islands, swamps and isolated groups of survivors. Gathering scarce resources, you need to explore the world - island by island - helping those you can and dealing with those who do not share your vision of the future.
Grow Your Colony
There's more to a city than just people. Food, shelter, water, health, security - the list is long and varied. Technology to be researched along a branching Tech-Tree, buildings upgraded and specialists to train. It's down to you to make sure all these needs are fulfilled; a job made all the harder with limited resources, space and labour to complete these tasks.
You Are the Law
A society is only as good as its laws; it's up to you to define them. Will you usher in a new utopian age of equality or is your future a benign dictatorship? Not every group shares your vision and the choices you make can have a profound impact on the future of your settlement. A common goal will make your society more productive than one at loggerheads with itself; you need to define and choose your legal evolution and which route to follow on the Law-Tree but - as with all things - there are always consequences.

Each game is different; maps, events and make up of the world are randomly generated, allowing unique playthroughs every time.

Hmmm, dear Matt, you should play a game called frostpunk, it's about the evil architects driving out engineers and workers, because they used their fancy and useless designs to freeze the world... And to survive the people is forced to create wonders of engineering to endure the cold... It probably is good challenge for a fine engineer like yourself I bet 😉
Frostpunk is really good, and with room for dubious humanitarian choices as well.
Funny, I always thought frostpunk characters were all architects... Seeing as how they seem to make the worst decissions every god damned time.
I mean just look at the new londoners. "Oh if you don't improve our life conditions we will all migrate even though we're actually doing pretty well already." WHERE ARE YOU GOING?! THE GOD DAMNED NORTH POLE?! Meanwhile I can go ahead and instaurate totalitarianism and no one even bats an eye!No way even one of them passed engineering school.
Frostpunk (including the DLC) is amazing. Can't wait for Frostpunk 2.
@@thespanishinquisition4078 hahaha nah bro, I mean, the londoners want to go back to London, they left there because they were overworked by the "lords", and they think they made a mistake, the workers, the engineers are just coped in their workshops and clinics doing engineering things... Although, I do agree they make the worst possible choices every acursed time hahaha xd they made my life miserable in the fall of winterhome, gad dam 😂

Matt although a civil engineer, his intro abstract story telling and gameplay successfully managed to fool UA-cam 's "weird" algorithm so much so that it need to come with a cautionary article link to "climate change" and that . Just love this banter !. Btw would love matt to play some more minecraft

This game makes me think of the ending to Waterworld, where they do find dry land in the end and some people stay to live on the dry land

Hey RCE, I've played the game for a bit and in the future when you get more clans you'll notice that relations can get out of hand, the best method to combat this is either build lots of recreational buildings or SEGREGATE. PLZ segregate for a new vid since ik you love that stuff. You can plop the different people on different places by using the pathfinder camp and upgrading to small storage to create new district, to ship people there you'll need a pier which is unlocked in research and district maker which is in the research tab too.

XD I just finally realized this from your “Form vs Function” comment. The Engineers vs Architects feud is the same as the smithing rivalry between Dwarves (Function) and Elves (Form) in Dungeons and Dragons. XD. So basically you would 1000% fit in with D&D Dwarves. And it’s even funny when you think about how the Elves (Architects) are responsible for a great number of atrocities in the D&D universe. XD.
That owl or whatever it is made me look around wondering what the noise was far too often.
That aside, looks interesting!

Hey Matt, i recommend a little train game called Train Valley 2. It's all about "drawing" the train lines, managing the routes, and taking the resorces around the map. It's pretty cool, but it gets hard real fast!
I almost want this as a long series similar to timberborners. There seems like so much potential and a pretty good game

Seems like a pretty neat game so far. I like the concept. It'll be interesting to see how balanced it is for resources. I would think they should be scare, but it doesn't seem like it. Noticed some spelling mistakes that would bother me, but not a deal breaker.

I wonder if there will be a game that, for example, has different kind of berry's, eatable, slightly poisenes and deadly. You start out with the eatable and as youexplore you come across new ones where you get a warning that you don't know the berry's and they might be... And you can experiment if you run low on food. Then if you find the right books you will know which berry's in that area are safe. And you can click for real world info, like the top 3 safe berry's of a certain area. And the further you go you will find new berry's and new ones that can be poiseness and new books about a new real world area about real berry's. Or is there already something like that?

hey, i was wondering if in city skylines you could make a city an entire skyscraper? you know like in the movie DREDD - Those mega block strato scraper arcologies where an entire city is contained in one skyscraper? could you in some way engineer all the roads, buildings, landscape to form a HUGE skyscraper?
This is surviving the aftermath in a slightly different setting. The entire UI and style guide are exactly the same. I love StA so that's not a bad thing.
So not post apocalyptic, post cataclysmic.
