That 1st SI from the '30's ran from January 1936 for 37 issues into 1938. The 1st one actually only says Sports Illustrated. I have it and the cover is of a Red Wing hockey player named Wally Kilrea. The '36 Red Wings were the 1st US team to repeat. I've actually reached out to a Detroit sports radio station who I told the story to and they want me to get in touch with them. Stuart Scheftel took over as majority owner beginning with the 2nd issue and merged it with American Golfer. I have the 2nd issue, that Gehrig issue and about 10 others. I'm gonna do videos on my collection and the story behind that 1st SI iteration is REALLY interesting! They're just slightly oversized and I'm praying some company starts doing the oversized mags. I love the oddball stuff too! Keep up the good work Brad
Awesome video BRAD. I always learned something more every time I watch your videos you’re very educated with everything sports illustrated and other magazines. Can’t wait to your next video.👍🏻

great story on that brady issue nice hustle by you thanks for these videos brad
Very entertaining video. Btw is there any problems with magazines bending when being slabbed by cgc? This is a big issue with comics.
@@kingsfan_Tim I've seen that conversation happening amongst comic collectors but haven't seen or heard of any examples with the magazines.
@@sportsmags good to hear..how many magazines have you suibmitted last few months?
@kingsfan_Tim 14 in the last few months
Just in case you didn't know, a 1.8 = Good- condition. As a comic collector for decades, I am all too familiar with this grade. LOL
Does your MVC Larry Bird signature have an authentication sticker on it? If so, how do you think that will be treated by CGC or PSA?

@@tennis-man22 I'm not a kid, but yes, I am actually already working on that exact thing. Gotta follow up with all the closed-minded Djokovic fans.
@@sportsmags you're still working on it right?
@cagedfighterwildlife1484 Yes. I've got the script totally finished now. Still have to record and edit. Probably will be 2-3 weeks from now.
