I was actually wondering if I should RESET my Apple Watch 4 before transferring everything over to the Watch Ultra. According to this video, I should UPAIR my Apple Watch 4... then RESET and ERASE all data and settings from the Watch 4... then activate the new Watch Ultra, right? Glad I found this how-to-video

What if everything was transferred to a new apple watch. Is there anything further that needs to be done once it’s unpaired?
is it harmful for the watch to unpair (and consequently have a full format of the flash memory) multiple times? can this damage its flash memory or battery if done too many times?
Mine did factory reset on its own after i unpaired it went into settings saw he had my apple id still and it started to reset on its own and then after. Boot up said to pair with a iphone is that good for selling now?

I need to re add my watch back to my carrier and it won’t do it how do I fix that? Any ideas I had to remove the watch for there software to update and then re add it back to my service but it won’t work!
After you've unpaired on iPhone, the watch become factory reset, so one cannot access 'Settings>General>Reset' unless I re-pair watch again. Or am I missing something?

Hey I unpair my Apple Watch series 6 using my phone and it did, but when I check my iCloud the watch is still there. I thought once unpair it suppose to take you off the iCloud also. Do I have to do it manually after I unpair the watch?

You have to manually remove it from iCloud as well
I have tried this but the account used initially to set up the watch still appears after the unpair process as well as remove from from device. I unpaired the watch again and the account still appeared. Not the first time I've had this. Also happened with a previous watch I sold. Looked like I wanted to scam buyer as account was still on the watch

This doesn't answer the one question that most people are probably looking for; Does unpairing erase all of your data? There isn't a definitive, clear-cut answer anywhere, which is incredibly irritating. I plan to sell one tomorrow, and I'm worried my data is still on the watch.
Same problem I'm finding here. They keep phrasing it like it's a separate process, but then as though it magically resolves itself with a simple unpairing. So vague

Once you unpair an apple watch, you can't get into general settings because the watch has to be paired with a IPhone before the watch allows you to see any settings.
So does that mean everything is already erase?
I came here to say the same thing. Maybe you could do this in an older iOS version? Unless, you can still access the main watch screens until you REMOVE the watch from “your devices” with the Find My app. I already unpaired and Removed, so I can’t get to the watch’s general settings screen. So maybe this is why.
you only need to UNPAIR the watch. that's it!
