    Have you played any of these 6 games and if so, what did you think of them? And which games would you like to see us cover?

      That will absolutely happen one day, but considering we've only played a small fraction of his like 600+ games, personally I need to play at least a few more first. I still haven't tried games like Ra, Taj Mahal, Samurai, Through the Desert, Medici, Blue Moon, High Society, Stephenson's Rocket, etc. Hoping to try at least a few more soon, but we'll definitely do a focus video on Knizia some day. Thanks for the feedback! 🙂

    I absolutely LOVE Wavelength! Sometimes the crew that I play games with can be a bit loud and boisterous with party games, but I found that this one lent itself perfectly to more conversations and laughter (and less yelling over people). Also, the clues that people come up with are almost always so funny to debate.

    • @AllYouCanBoard

      The discussion is definitely the best part, people come up with amazing arguments for where the needle should go, as well as incredible clues.

    Your Sumatra review speaks to me as I think Reiner Knizia often makes several similar games with the same core mechanism. Whatever that is you are probably best off getting the one from that family that you like best rather than all of them, unless you REALLY like that mechanic.
    I think I sat next to him at a wedding one time - so long ago I am not sure if my memory is playing tricks.

    • @AllYouCanBoard

      Definitely, I think that's bound to happen when you release as many games as he does too!

    I'm discovering I like Sumatra way more than everyone else, though I agree with most of the points outlined in this video. For an otherwise simple game, I do find it to be a little clunky to teach, but once I had the rules down I found it to be a really nice fit in my collection. It adds some layers of tension that other light drafting games in my collection don't usually provide.

    For me I was excited about Castles of Tuscany because I'm a huge fan of Burgundy, but then when I saw how it was played I lost all interest in it. It didn't even make it to my Want to Play list. Wavelength I completely agree with you about owning it, and I would if I had a big enough group to play it with regularly, but I'm always playing 2-4 players and it just wouldn't see the table enough, but I've really enjoyed all the plays I've had of it. The only one I'm not sure about is Overboss because I've never played it and only watched one playthrough video of it and thought, "huh, that looks like a decent game" and then promptly forgot about it.
    I'd love to hear you review Anno 1800 and Equinox. Those are two games that I've been on the fence for quite a long time.

      Thanks for the comments! Overboss definitely had the same initial effect on us but after I finally decided to pick it up, I realize how much it checks all the boxes for what I like in a game of this style.
      And keep an eye out for Equinox content because we actually just received our copy! :D

    YESSSS. Wavelength is incredible. I backed it on KIckstarter and never looked back. ALSO I literally just received Castles of Tuscany yesterday. I don't own Burgundy yet but I think a lighter version of it should slot in nicely. Thanks for the gauntlet of reviews!

    Great episode for me as i have overboss, grand carnival and the Mercado game in my cart for awhile. Been watching some reviews of them, but have remained undecided. After watching this, i def think overboss is 1 i need to buy. And will review carnival 1 abit more.

      That worked out great for timing! Haha. They're all fun games and I don't think you can go wrong with them. But Overboss is definitely one that I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with, especially with the variability of each game and how quick it plays! Easy to teach to new players too.

    Overboss is an awesome game filled with tons of replay ability. Really happy I purchased that game. I haven’t played any others. Have you played the 2 player version of sonar. It’s really cheap and full of good gameplay. I really believed it was overlooked like overboss. I think people assumed it wasn’t good but it is great for 4 also. Maybe a highlight of that game or arboretum. 👍

      @@AllYouCanBoard yeah check it out the 2 player sonar is turn based. Comes with like 4-6 maps and hours of gameplay replay ability. Think I saw it under 15$👍

    I think the Grand Carnival is excellent. The added complexity of the paths/construction sites is brilliant. I got it on Kickstarter and it was actually cheaper than Isle of Cats (which I got at retail) even with delivery! I didn't realise it was so expensive at retail release... It was $39 on Kickstarter

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  2 роки тому

      $39 is a steal! Keep in mind the price I mentioned (around $60-$65) was Canadian dollars. And honestly the production value is top notch, I just know there are cheaper options out there for people who want polyomino games to play with the family, even if they're not as nice.
      Great game though and does a lot differently than other polyomino games. Rob Cramer deserves a lot of credit for a debut design that good.
      Thanks for watching!

    Love the shows. I wish you handled the components more. The cut-aways are serviceable but there is a lot of gesturing in thin air. It doesn’t help a viewer decide if it is right for them or not.

    I've become more and more a fan of Castles of Tuscany. We _love_ Burgundy, it's one of the first "real" games we played and... it's still so great.
    Tuscany, it's KIND OF similar, but really it's not. And the turns so fast, and it's about bonuses and set collection and WHAT? DID YOU JUST EMPTY YOUR STACK!?!? _facepalm_
    It's become a nice filler+ game for our group. AND it plays well over Zoom, with a copy at each end.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 роки тому

      Great points, Rodney. And I agree, it's definitely a faster and more streamlined version of Burgundy in many ways, but also has it's own charm and elements that set it apart.

    Would you say Overboss would be good for a middle school board game club?

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 роки тому +1

      It would probably work fine, but it depends what you're looking for. It's a very "heads down" type of game where everyone's mostly doing their own thing in silence. If you're okay with that, it should do the trick, but if you're looking for games with more socializing and player interaction, there are better options. The video game theme could be appealing to the kids though, and it's a challenging game to do well at.

      Makes sense. Well I'd suggest you check out another recent video we did - Getting Into Board Games in 2021. There are a bunch of games we specifically picked as games that would showcase to new players how amazing board games can be. I think all our picks in there are excellent choices as starter/gateway games that more experienced players will still enjoy.
      Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions! Always happy to help people find the right game for them. 🙂

And with the release of Thanos being pretty close and a full review coming out, I definitely won't be doing a dive into everything until I have the box in my hands with play experience...however look out for a video tomorrow that explores SOME of the Thanos leaked cards! ;)
