This is great! Thanks Nigel! I actually live right on the James Bay in the Subarctic in Quebec! (Yes. It is already snowing and cold!) I see wild Larix Laricina like this constantly. We call them Tamarack up here. I know exactly what he's talking about in regards to the bogs filled with stunted trees. I see them daily on walks/drives around my community.
I've had good luck collecting them in the fall. They don't seem to mind as long as you get yourself a good root ball.

I watched part 2 first, and didn't realize what an intimate space this demo was held in, and I agree with others who have taken issue with all the background chatter. There were a lot of rude people chattering ad nauseam throughout this entire demo.

As a fan of larches I would’ve loved to watch and hear what the presenter had to say. Unfortunately
too many in the audience seemed more interested in what THEY had to say to each other. I guess I’ll
have to way for this presenter to make one of his videos. My thanks to him, but I have to leave now.

I suspect the background noise you're hearing is from folks attending the bonsai show, not the actual audience of Easterbrook's presentation.

@@Sherman_616 If you watch at 3:00, he specifies the correct time to work on larch, and it is not a month, it is what the tree is telling you. A month is a useless timing metric; as you point out, climate is different in different parts of the (dare I say it) world. My larches are in bright green spring growth!
