My theory on Destiny: its FTL method is NOT the first form of FTL. The Ancients always knew about and used hyperspace. Moreover, if it was the first form of FTL, Logic dictates that other races would also develop it before hyperdrive also, but we never saw this. The only other ones to use it were the Fish heads in SGU. However, the builders knew that Destiny would have no crew/skeleton crews, so they needed an FTL method that was less maintenance and energy intensive, and They ended up with Destiny’s FTL, a more dependable, albeit slower form of of FTL. Remember, it’s still faster than primitive forms of hyperdrive. Goauld Htak were only capable of 10c in season 1 of SG1. All systems on the ship were designed to feed from plasma taken from stars, the only Surefire way to keep the ship going across the universe, as stars are definitely all over the universe. Destiny wasn’t designed with speed and efficiency in mind, rather longevity.
Great comment yh the ftl could of be design solely for the purpose of longevity and just though of this to remain in normally space for scans as hyperspace is subspace and scan work diffrent as destiny goal was to gather info this could be a good reason but yh
I have to remind you that most of the civilisations that followed the Downfall of the Ancients have found derelict technology by the Alterrans . So It would'nt surprise the technological advancement were modified because they have jump to a few steps above . In the Stargate Universe , we know the destiny stargate Model seemed to not made of Naquadah and the same thing could be say with the Destiny . It is imply in my theory that maybe the Alterrans have brought the naquadah by creating it on a much more later date . Hell , in spite that Destiny was faster than say a Ha'tak who moved around 30 000 times of the speed of light . It seemed to be sensible to gravitationnal disturbances more than the Ha'tak . Yet , We know in the Series that Earth too have some problem before they fixed it with some kind of gravitationnal compensator that allow their Hyperdrive to not be sensible to the gravity of Black Hole . I have to say that maybe the
I loved the whole concept of Stargate Universe and the idea of a group of people stranded on an intergalactic traveling starship, trying to figure out how to first control the ship, effect repairs on failed systems due to its age, find food and supplies to survive using the limited range stargate, and how to make the most of their precarious situation, and where Destiny is ultimately taking them.
yes it starts of slow due to everything you said but once they get control of the bridge, that's where things really start getting good i also like the idea of them not being the right people it made for a good story
I think part of the thing that killed this series was the lack of a title sequence, the dreadful "Battlestar Galactica" choice. You had to watch the beginning of each episode, without a break, with no music, and wondering where this opening differed from last week's episode, often without even a title for the episode! I don't remember seeing episodic titles for BsG after perhaps the first. That constant flowing recap, without any music and a profoundly displayed title, was very tiring, and extremely stressful on fandom. It truly was on mine. I fell out of BsG in part because of it, and I fell in love with SGU despite it.
@@Svensk7119 personally i think it was the fact it broke formula trying to be the reimainged battlestar galatica, the main characters hated each other and had no Camaraderie, unlike the previous shows, they never really bonded, especially rush, he was the anti mackay, arrogant genius but none of the likable characteristics of rodeny
@sword4005 Perhaps so. But it showed a lack of kinship with the previous series' themes and a discontinuity with the old fans. Basically, this helped drive the old fans away, the ones they desperately needed. Oh, but also Colonel Young. His abandonment of Rush, even if deserved, was very, very hard on us fans. It showed no... no spirit of General Hammond at all.
Being the SG dork I am, I already knew all of this. But I’m still giving you a like a subscribe for your accurate knowledge and enthusiasm. Well done, mate.
They found that the Destiny and the seed ships had the capability to make stargates and setup nodes for their use. It was thought to be the primary function of the seed ships(to expand the stargate net). They found this out when a seed ship showed up which had been taken over by aliens. Also most of the ship was unexplored. Supposedly due to how poor a shape the ship was in. Large parts of it were blocked off. Loved the show and wish they had finished it with the return home or to a place from which they could return home. Instead, they just left it with all but Eli being put in suspended animation. It needed and indeed deserved an ending with a bit more closure.
Bro! You have 24 times more views than followers in only 6 days after releasing a video about Stargate destiny. This is the perfect demonstration of how desperately we all want new Stargate episodes!
I know I'm so shocked at the views my favourite franchise is stargate. I watched new episodes every week on TV growing up eagerly awaiting the next. it's been so long since we had any new Stargate stuff it's still great to see the fan base still loves it
thanks, I wanted to give a human feel to my video and to have the feel that I'm talking to the audience, granted I'm reading a script that I wrote and my reading is pretty awfull but I hope having my face on screen makes it more personal than just having vocals 😊
Man, great videos. I've rarely seen this quality and SG has a huge fanbase ! Also, keep speaking live. Your mistakes add a very positive thing and give us time to dream about what you are speaking of
12:56 "KINO" Dispenser - i really wanted a episode where the kinos run out (maybe because Eli made more levitating table tops) and Eli uses a kindo to fly throug hthe dispenser pipe and finds a Workshop room / a assemble line , a ancient 3D printer - a new Room / a place from where our Destiny Crew gets all the spare parts they need (bit by bit) - there simply MUST be a repair shop onboard - if you build your ship to survive battles you have to plan for repairs
@HugoBolzer oh no doubt the ship was stocked with spare parts and mechanical rooms the show probably would of covered it at some point they did however find the repair robot amd it the comics the ship uas like hundred of them that fix destiny to new ish
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y not stocked with spare parts ... a machine shop that is able to take in raw materials from gate travel and make new parts out of them when needed
For someone so evidently just starting here in YT I must admit I'm quite impressed in the quality of your videos. A couple of notes, . Don't be quite so hurried to plow through the script, take your time and try to read ahead and be clear so you stumble a little less. . Don't be afraid to re-record/edit mistakes in your vocal/cam recording, no one will worry about that, it's expected and will look more professional in the end especially as you gain more confidence. . Finally Spell check your on-screen text your Daedalus class video spelled Odyssey as Oddyessy every time it was on screen and was quite distracting. Other than that this is looking like a good little show you are making and keep up the good work, Your subs are already climbing at a respectful rate and I was referred by an end-video algorithm recommendation so your channel is being picked by the algorithm to grow which is good for a channel so small. I Hope you will be able to monetize in the not too distant future. Good luck and I'll be watching. :)
this is like the best comment ever. Thanks for all your feedback. I will take what you say into account. I've always struggled with speed while reading, and it is my biggest struggle. Also, my spelling is not that great without a spell check as I spell to how it sounds Most of the time. but I will make sure to double check those tricky words going forward. I'm sure the more I do the better and more comfortable I will get, and having great comments like this gives me the boost I need to do better thanks for the feedback I'm I'm glad you've enjoyed the content 😊

You're doing well for such a small channel and I'm always happy to give advice and any other help I may be able to give. Good luck on your YT journey, I'll be here to see how it goes. :)
I have to butt in here. Ancient shields overall are orange. Just look at the Aurora battleships. The colour, by no means, determines the strenght of shield systems in Stargate. It provides a visual distinction. No hate intended obviously. Keep up the good work. We definitely need more Stargate material here
yes I agree with you colour means nothing I meant to say witch I didn't say very well was the goauld shields are possibly ancient tech originally with goa'uld tweeks and as destiny pre dates the gou'uld I thought they could be of relevant strength but shield generally are as strong as the power you put into them so destiny shields could be far stronger I was just trying to compare good comment and catch I could of done better at explaining my thoughts there my bad
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y oh yeah goa'uld shields arę ancient on origin as they reverse engineered ancient tech and stole a bunch of but never could manage similar results when it comes to the tech efficiency that's right. I could also argue that strength-wise goa'uld shields come no where near destiny's. I can't imagine a ha'tak flying through sun. But that's just me nitpicking. Overall you did a great job here
@TheJk1131 yh goauld shield strength no where near matchs anceint Strength but definitely share design origins also no worrys about nit picking it helps me create better content so thank you
Found this video randomly and it was well informed. As i gone i to your past videos, you made a great choice in dropping the "explained" bs since its a scourge in the UA-cam realm. As long as you dont use that word anymore, I'll remain subbed. Keep up the hard work, amd well done.
I don't think this was the first FTL form of the Ancients, since they were already able to travel between galaxies millions of years before they arrived on Earth. Even in the civil war against the Ori. I always thought that the travel form of the Destiny was developed more because of its mission, so that the ship could travel in normal space and collect pieces of cosmic background radiation. And the shield color is the same as the Aurora class. Even the type is the same because the other shieds surround the ship like a bubble while on the Ancient/Lantian ships it bends over the ships more like an upper layer. Except Atlantis. It has bluish bubble shield.
Your video about the Destiny is great with a lot good infor. Hope one day you can use the dimensions of the BC-304 class from your past video for the Wraith Cruiser and Hiveship in future videos.
The shields was specifically designed to do FTL travel without actually going into hyper space (it was for the science reasons for the whole reason why they launched destiny so they could record the background noise) if they used hyperdrive they wouldn’t of been able to collect the science , the shield also had a heat shield so it could refuel using sun with no radiation or heat damage at all
Sorry, those specifics are not backed by the show. Specificaly it was not told, that Destiny gets the data DURING its flight (and not during the numerous safety stops), that it somehow COULD reach hyperspace speeds - shields or no shields, and especially, there is no mention, far less of proof, that the data cant be obtained by ship in hyperspace (even if it has to make a stops, to take the measurements)
It was interesting to hear the mention about the 4-hour minimum running time, for Destiny’s FTL drive - I don’t remember this getting a mention, in the series. I recall in the SGU episode “Lost”, the FTL drive shuts down on its own, because one of its component drives was damaged. But I don’t remember if this was a premature shut-down, or if the Destiny really did travel for more than 4 hours away from the Ruins planet, where at least three characters had been left stranded.
I believe its mentions in season 2 the ftl has to be active for atleast 4 hours before shutting of to prevent damage same for after dropping out the engines need to rest for atleast 3 hours it's a very inefficient design.
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4YMight have to watch the episode “Lost” again, when I get a chance, just to see if they mention how long Destiny had travelled at FTL before that breakdown happened.
One thing I never liked was that everyone forgot was the Earth-symbol was actually not the Earth symbol. The dotted triangle was the SECOND symbol used for Earth. Earth's original symbol was an underscored circle. So in Destiny, which was millions of years before Ra deployed to Earth the Giza gate, the "Earth-symbol" must have had a different meaning. I presume it means "Avalon".
This is the first time I have come across your channel and liked this video. I love sci-fi and find this stuff really interesting. For me, the videos that do little but geekishly spout numbers like 17 x 3 gigaquad lasers and a 30 terrahertz shield grid are very boring. It's important to have a sense of scale but what's important is who built something and why. There is so much personality and stories to objects like the Destiny. Great video.
Great comment thanks and yh when writing the scripts for the ship breakdowns I want to share the history of the ships each ship as a story of its own and destiny for me is a special ship for the reason it was built, what a great idea it was to have a message in the cmbr, is it a message from a creator or something more grounded in science like the possibility of another universe that was before ours so many theory's and mystery its a shame it was cancelled so early would of loved to know where the story went
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y I was a big fan of SG1 and Atlantis. I could never fully get into it. There were some great elements and I liked the slightly grittier edge. But it never fully gelled with me to be rewatchable like the other ones are.
@jamesabernethy7896 sgu is a very different tone than sg1 sga but the story had so much potential. in sgu s2 it started to get really good it was a shame I would of like to of seen more
My first video due to random Algorithm and it was very informative. And with the real human aspect of the video was more enjoyable. Because everyone makes mistakes, and there's nothing wrong with making mistakes.
@VisiblyPinkUnicorn ha ha 😂 I'm new to the whole video editing thing 🤣 I like it ive had some negative things about the length of it but I remain content with my creation
I'd like to offer you some advice, look into the camera when you talk. It makes it feel like you're talking to your audience rather than staring in to space. I know it takes practice but it will be better for the channel in the long run. As for your breakdown, the Destiny had significantly quicker travel time between Galaxies than the hyperspace equipped ships did and I'm almost certain it's mentioned in the show that it was a more advanced drive than the traditional Hyperspace. If that's from the comic I'm almost certain it conflicts with the show.
I'm trying to, but I'm reading a script on screen, and as I'm not great at reading, it's a challenge every time I look at camara I lose my place and mess up the line and trying to memorise the lines is near impossible in the time frame I'm working on better camara angles to help with eye line but it's not easy thanks for the advice none the less
It never made sense that they didn't find an actual ancient armory on board. The ancients knew the threats that looked in space, they had dealt with other alien species, some hostile guaranteed, so it makes no sense that they wouldn't have a fully stocked armory on the ship. They planned for everything else essentially, why not that?...
there might be a weapons room on board, just not found yet. if you think about it the stasis pods are important for those long void trips and it was found later not right away so there could be but again you look at atlantis as well no ancient handheld weapons maybe the writers didn't include anceint gun to keep the show using human guns for effects budget or they overlooked it but great question it never occurred to me about anceint weapons
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y - Very true, there could still be a cache somewhere onboard, which again I would assume there would be considering. You're right though, they probably never touched base on such a thing in Universe or Atlantis, in order to keep costs down for production. Because IRL, I'm sure the ancients would have personal arms and have stocks of them in both locations, especially considering Atlantis was evacuated during war time.
@thomasrodgers2291 yes I would imagine both locations having ancients small arms but irl cgi cost having them all the time would be expensive but we did see 2 types of anceint small arms in atlantis with the stun button on the aruroa and the handgun stunner the replicators had so we did see them just never found them plus in the show after the replicator took over atlantis once defeated the weapons where left behind and never use so earth prob prefferd guns over them
definitely had great potential for storytelling in the unknowns of the universes for me I don't rate any of the 3 shows better than the others I love all of it equally as it tells a continuous story from one show to the next building on the universe but if I had to choose I think I would go atlantis sg1 universe but only just
To me the SGU was the worst of the 3 shows ,completely ruined the series formula that worked so well for SG1 & SGA. The only show even worse was the stupid Stargate cartoon show , Stargate Infinity.
@lonknight3197 That's the best thing we each have our own opinion you didn't like it, like my dad didn't until mid season 2, were as I like it from the start, the tone is very different from sg1 sga but that was the point I remember before it came out watching a pre production tour video the writers actors and directors did and they tell us there it's going to be a different tone, and it fits the environment of destiny's first season well while the second season really started to lighten up a bit and I sure s3 on wards would have gotten better but who knows we each have our likes and dislikes
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y Did like the earlier shows about hunting for raw materials to fix things but hated the mind stone stories, liked season 2 stories of Blockade and the cat creatures on that one planet, it is an interesting story i just think they/ writers were handling it wrong, trying to hard to make it into Battlestar G. And you know if it had gotten a season 3 it would have de- evolved into the new alien crew member getting added on ,like Spock, 7 of 9, or even a new T'lec, maybe a new one like Space 1999 , Maya added at last season. My brother use to say that all TV shows should end after season2 because the writers just run out of ideas and the shows get dumber.
You forgot that the shields also protect it when going through a star to recharge. Also when the kamikaze attack to Destiny happens, Eli has calibrated the shield to focus on the specific energy frequency range of the drone weapons, thats the only reason the kamikaze attacks did damage to the hull.
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y well you said that the shield had 3 uses, and protecting form stars wasn't one. You also said that it wasn't able to withstand kinetic energy
@cypherdk85 At the end of the shield segment, I say it also protects the ship in a star and it the segment I say about shield I say in that battle the shield was set to resist the energy of the drones
Always seemed like a huge amount of ship internal volume for the amount of rooms we got to see. Everything on the show seemed to take place within the top pyramid of the ship. Perhaps the bulk of the ship was energy storage of some sort?
I loved pretty much everything about SGU and the destiny but the one thing I never got my head around is the destiny being launched “over 50 million years ago”. So you’re telling me the Alterans lived for over 50 million years, suddenly disappearing just 10,000 years ago, and never once gated to the destiny? I know it’s only a guesstimate, but it kinda just confuses me how that number was thrown out there for how old the destiny is because that’s a ridiculous amount of time. One thing I can think of is maybe similar to how the damaged aurora class ship in Pegasus found in 99% lightspeed was retreating to Atlantis with living ancients on board from the war. Since lightspeed has an effect on time, the maths of which I don’t remember exactly, somehow makes time on the ship pass much slower than outside the ship. Maybe that works out to the destiny itself not actually being that old but I don’t think the math works out that way and I just can’t fathom how the destiny could have been launched that long ago without some sort of time travel or manipulation being involved. Another one of the many unknowns from SGU I guess.
I wish I had a 3d printer to print out these amazing ships my favourite is the bc-304 but destiny purpose is what I love about it the most no other scifi ship as such a great purpose
I own all of the SG media. That said while I liked SGU it was not the best. It felt like they where trying to make it too much like Battle Star Galactica with over the top in ship Drama. That is not the model that was used for any of the other Star Gate shows. They did not do enough world building it was too focused on the people on the ship to the point that it felt like a Cheap Reality Show or a 1980's Soap Opera for women! Battle Star Galacitica the reboot not the origanal was too much of that for me as well. It started off great but quickly lost me because I am not that type of guy.
What always bothered me about the show is the ship had massive amount of supplies yet only toward the end of the show did they even start opening the crates that were everywhere. The ship was well supplied with everything the ancient crew would have needed to keep it in working order, I bet it would have had long term food storage to. They Ancient would have know and prepared for it. The syfy just canceling it where Eli dies was bs too. This show was awesome I miss this kind of story telling.
yh I agree and disagree with the ships cargo they did open them but slowly as a precaution I imagine like you say there probably a storage room with crates of growable food. also you point about eli is some what true yes the show ended with Eli being the only one not in stasis however the comic book run dosent kill eli it actually starts after s2 and is a cool story if you haven't read it
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y There would have been tons of spare parts especially things like what mr brody pointed out that was in everything he was not sure exactly what it did but it was in everything. Mission critical items, ratons would have been some those crates enough for a crew complement of a ship that size. I did read it but it wasn't canon. There is a way restart not reboot this series, anime japanese style, this would allow all the original cast to come back to do the voices.
@dragonshoarddesign3094 I have thought of animation to continue but I think the 3d animation of star wars the clone wars for the animation bit more realistic from live action in the style also the ships would be awsome
@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y Between I found the color schemes for clone war too cartoon, I was saying it more along the lines of iron fortress and arcane combinations
@dragonshoarddesign3094 yes I can see that I just feel 3d would better suit it as its would be replicating live action but that's my option anything would be great at this point
Sci-fi Nerd, one point, though perhaps it's understandable. Your Stargate at the beginning was an Avalon gate, but it only had seven active chevrons. Since this is SGU, I think nine chevrons should be lit, regardless of whether an Avalon or Destiny-class Stargate is used. Okay! Well-played! The first gate had seven, but your viewing gate had nine.
you are wrong about the chair, it's not an early version of the lantean control chair on Atlantis, it's an early version of the Ancient library (the one that took the Colonel O'Neill's head twice and nearly killed him twice to download the ancient knoledge in his head)
i think if it has 3 shuttle pads the anchents would only place 2 shuttles, as the 3rd would be for some other shuttle , you couldn't use a gate to get on and off the ship, so i think pad 3 was a intencanaly left empty
it was ahead of its time I enjoyed it and wish there was more. the story was unique and had potential for great story telling and the destiny was a great ship with vast potential
Technically the shipped launch with a skeleton crew eventually that crew left the ship when back home with the gate hopping. Recall reading this on the net.
in the back to destiny comics a few anceints accidentally were stranded on the ship and went into cryo to await rescue but the ship was launched on auto pilot that's why they where stranded
Given the power an ascended being has and more so as a group, they would have been able to find out the origin and meaning of the CMBR without too much effort. It would be interesting to know what that is.
@Gravedigger933 yes the premises of the structure in the cmbr opens up so many questions about the origin of the universe like was there an outside influence from a powerful being that had a hand in the big bang could it be remnants from a previous universe or evidence of a creator the big question is do acended being gain all knowledge of the universes or do they still have to find things out as daniel while acended didint have all the answers
Just 10-50 times the speed of light? That seems low. I mean that would take 2000 to 10000 years just to travel across the Milky Way. I haven't seen the series in ages, but I don't recall the timescales being that long. I do remember that at the end of the series they went into stasis to travel the distance between galaxies in FTL. But were they planning on that time in stasis being thousands, likely tens of thousands of years? Didn't they say something about how if they ran out of energy and they fell out of FTL early before reaching the next galaxy then they would be stranded on (only) a thousand year long journey? I don't think the writers had any sense of the scale of star systems and galaxies.
I'm pretty sure that considering the speed it gets between and across galaxies I think it goes at closer to 10K to 50K times the speed of light. It's definitely in the thousands of times the speed of light.
yh I may of under valued the speed there alot. using the milkyway Galaxy as a reference, it's 100k light years accros, so if the destiny could travel across a galaxy, the size of the milkyway in say a year it would have to be going 100k times the speed of light to cross it I'm doing a video soon correcting this math as it was a blunder on my part and I think it would be cools to explore this further
@@Gravedigger933 the alterans became the ancients. the alterans was the original name for the anceints its very possible that the alteran name was lost to time eventually be refferd to the anceint by those that was left after they left also the ancients were called lanteans in pegases so my guess is that the ancients was originally called the alterans in the ori galaxy and the milkyway for a time then when they built atlantis and left for pegases there name changed to the lanteans then as they faded from memories ended up being called the anceints so technically my statment is correct as the alteran lanteans and ancients are all one in the same
The Lanteans who abandoned their city in the Pegasus Galaxy and returned to Earth first referred to themselves as Ancients when they set up Repositories of Knowledge across the Milky Way. ("We are the Ancients. This is the place of our legacy"). The Asgard probably took to using the title at the time and passed it on to Jack O'Neill.
I was thinking that the Destiny should be longer, up to 1-1.5 kilometers, but somewhere else i found 750 meters and i was prety confused. Now i know it was close to 750 meters. I wanted to try to write a Stargate HALO crossover fanfiction and these informations are helping me. Thank you. Also are you planing to do breakdown for Aurora and Atlantis? It would help me and i think it would be also interesting.
yh i thought destiny was upward of 1km but if you look closely at it its pretty compact i think the shape throws of the scale plus its always in the backdrop of space so nothing to scale it next to and yes future videos i will be covering all stargate ships, star trek ships and star wars along with other sci fi shows I'm just getting started but as its just me doing these videos it takes time so stay tuned for more also and ancient warship arura class is a beast coming in at 3000m-3km long if that helps
I used to get the Stargate magazine, and in one they had the Destiny size ( length ) I don’t really recall the exact size -something like 2200-2600 feet odds
Has anyone noticed that the shape of the Star ship Destiny is the exact same shape as the navigators pendent in Wing Commandor movie.think maybe the same designers involved in both.
my very personal mini theory ... the Destiny and the Seed ships look alot like the SGU stargate Chevrons should the Fleet of seed ships ever arrive at their destination They could be able to form a Space Gate ... with all that power from each of them it should be possible to bring the Destiny Home after the mission is complete and bring the Message back to earth
I hate to shotgun your math, but 10 to 50 times the speed of light doesn’t work…. It has to be much faster. Destiny crossed two galaxies with multiple stops in the show’s two seasons, each presumably in less than a year. Using the milky way as a base line of 100,000 light years across and the math is clear. never mind jumping the void between galaxies in a reasonable timeframe measured in a couple of years or less. My guess, destiny probably could travel a minimum of 250,000 times the speed of light or likely even faster.
it possible I just made a rough guess, and the galaxy's in the show the first galaxy the destiny was already over halfway threw and the void between was relatively short as the next galaxy was close and the 2nd galaxy was a small galaxy in its self and let's not forget the next void would of taken 2 years to cross so its all diffrent and using the milkyway for the distance is good but not accurate as we don't know the other distances but yh your probably right about my 10 to 50 times
Even if I love Destiny, after thinking about it, I consider it the weakest forward ship in the franchise, even if we forget it's current capacity at 40%. It has relatively weak shielding against attacks, only its main armament is really effective (we saw that only it hits the Nakais ships) it also loses a lot of energy in combat which makes it very vulnerable in long fights, and with a single effective cannon and horrible maneuverability I think it wouldn't even be able to bring down a Ha'tak which had a high rate of fire and fluid maneuverability, it's a shame because it's my favorite ship
Ok info, but I'm kinda wondering, if the ship was made to be unmanned, why is there crew quarters? And when rush and the crew opened the gate to destiny why would the co2 scrubbers be shot if no crew was on board what would be the purpose of running oxygen and gravity in the ship? And after millions of years wouldn't the AI attack anyone who was not an ancient for trespassing on the ship?
the premises of the ship is it was launched automatically from Earth to explore the universe, and one day, the ancients would board the ship, the ancients ascended before that happend so destiny was forgotten until earth figured it out. now don't forget that humans are descended from the anceints and thecniclly are the same species so humans are able to use ancient tech with realitve ease and with the co2 scrubbers the ship is millions of years old I imagine the compound used in the scrubber went bad over time. I don't think the co2 scrubbers were running until the icarus crew arrived, so when destiny fired up the life support, the compound used had expired. I imagine Destiny had a replacement compound in a random cargo bay, so the ancients could fix it easy, but for us humans who don't know anything about the destiny it was harder to fix plus don't forget is was the creative decision by the writer to have the first half of the first season to air, water, power so on. and as viewers, we can only guess what happened to the ship.
@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y I guess it's wide open to interpret the actual situation, on certain humans had the ATA gene and everyone else may have gotten the treatment, the life support situation is when they fell through the gate, it should have been a hard vacuum with no air to turn on life support and the gravity was already working, not to hate because I love SG1 and SGA , I'm trying to get into SGU, but after watching the Expanse some of the stuff is hard to go along with, your specs of the ship are great
Universe was my favorite stargate i was literally sick when it canceled. I even signed petitions to the sci-fi channel. The only show ive ever done that for
I think reason for cancelling was a mix of things 1. mgm going bust 2. bad ratings 3 it was a bad time for shows in general just look at atlantis it got cancel due to mgm going bust so I think that was main cause but yh its a shame I enjoyed sgu too
Your FTL calculations is wrong especially since we saw the Destiny able to travel to other galaxies in a relatively short time frame . If I would dare to say , It would be around a few dozens milliosn time of the speed of light . Daedalus class moved without ZPM around a speed of 60 millions time the speed of light since they reach the irregular Dwarf pegasus in 18 days . With the ZPM , it reach a speed of 300 millions times the speed of light . Atlantis and Asgard ships may reach something close to a couple billions times the speed of light since the Asgard crossed 4 millions light years in matters of hours and Atlantis was around the time frame . Destiny is a ship old of several dozens millions of years . The Stargate who were onboard were older than the Milk Way Model who I reminded to everyone were at least used for several dozens millions years old . The stargate that was found in Antarctica were old of Sixty millions years old at the very least .
in a sense destiny did do that by dropping out for supplies but ultimately destiny main goal was the mission so it set a timer and carried on regardless of the human cost later after the bridge was discovered the timer was over ridden plus the crew made substantial repairs anyway. the dome for instance was fixed and used as a garden until it broke again and I don't know what you mean with the shuttle as I've explained in the vid about the shuttles at the end
honestly not sure there's no official info on decks but my guess based on lights on the outside 12 decks on the aft pyramid part and the rest of the ship round 5 to 10 given the thickness of the rest of the ship but that's just a guess from looking at a pic of the ship
@whirledpeaz5758 I was going to say around 40 cause of the height of the ship, but I thought it might be more accurate to count the decks from a pic. don't forget you have to add hull thickness floor thickness and other cavities that hold air vents and pipes it would be great to have a cross section of the ship.
one possible reason is the age of the ship, and the compound used in the scrubbers has a life span that expired by the time the icarus crew arrived its stated in the show destiny launched without a crew on autopilot but you have to take into account that the ship is like 50 million years old stuff breaks
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y they were overflowing when they arrived even though life support was off until they gated in. It is an automated system. I am also curious why, as the most important and used room on the ship, the bridge was hidden?
@TheBullDurham the bridge was lock behind a master key code I'm sure the ancients didint want just anyone controlling the ship saftey precusuion I would imagine
Stargate: Universe needs to complete the story. I'd like a book or series of books. Without it, I won't watch any new BS "stargate" shows. They did the fans dirty the way they ended SGU
It is just my theory, but i think, that ancients, when sending the expedition of Seeders and Destiny, prepared even for a situation, when A) too much of the Seeders got destroyed/lost/crippeled, and/or B) Destiny itself get too old to fly onwards, cripplingly dammaged or destroyed. In those cases, the WHOLE expedition is ireversibly busted. BUUUUT if the whole system (especially the Seeders, wich have yet unexplained extensive outer surface machinery, are probably capable to mine resources and contain factories to BUILD the stargates, while comunicating with Destiny and sending informations back and forth - possibly even serving as external memory banks and back-up coppies to the Destinys research) can be set up to (in threat of critical fairlure, like points A and B) to flock the Seeders around unocupied resources and build another seeders (or) build a total coppy of Destiny (including the re-upload of informations from its AI). If ever the Tauri expedition gets any reinforcements, those people should have 1) the best tech aviable to Tauri/Atlantis. Possibly including some tauri version of Puddle jumpers. 2) automatic mining and fabricating engines, 3) Seeds of majority of edible (and medicinal) vegetation, possibly even biological samples of smaller animals (fishes, chicken, rabits). Preferable technology to bring, would be some version of "replicators" - because THAT kind of technology would allow to bring through the gate even big ships (cruiser and bigger). Not to mention, IF the Destiny gets enough of its "bateries" replaced for new and fully working, it could be able to connect the gate to the Milky way again... BTW, i think Tauri should do its best to create its own version of ancient drones. I can immagine that as a torpedo like shape (say same shape and dimmensions ans one of the aerospikes of F302s - 3 meters long, meter wide and half of meter "tall".) One such drone would have single railgun (to spare actual drones when facing simple, fragile and relatively "cheap" starfighters and dammage the BIG targets BEFORE they get actually hit by the main warhead). That kind of "Superweapon" can be extremely ussefull in Stargate setting for numerous reasons, one of wich is the fact, you can send (and still pilot) the drones THROUGH the stargate in both offensive way, or simple transport of material to the other side (say to re-arm the other side). IF the Tauri wants to make its superweapon with more bang, They can use the Tauri-drones in long-range mode (let it gain extreme speed close to 1C) and than smash into the target. IF Tauri needs more quicker BIG BANG, they can try to reverse-engineer the FTL, slap it on the drone and use it as FTL kamikaze. Alternative to that would be MICRO hyperdrive, to simply "blink" the drone with (probably naquadria) warhead INSIDE the big target. AAAAAAND of course, you can hang those things on almost ANYTHING (even F302s could haul 2 to 6 of said "drones"...). Not mentioning, you can FIRE those things even from the surface of planet (simply from its storage).
@debonlr no I'm just terrible at reading. I proofread the script many times while writing it and change a few things here and there to make it sound right when I speak it. I'm doing my best with my skills. I'm hoping the more I do, the better I will become.
They devoted the resources of an entire generation to the DESTRUCTION of the destiny? I even turned on subtitles and listened to this 3 times. For this and a bunch of other reasons I'm out.
They just heavily borrowed from The Starlost of all things.

Definitely agree with this. Other than that it's a great video and I'll be subscribing due to it. Look forward to seeing how your channel grows
Hopefully, they will kinda "Serenity" some ending movie...

Bro! You have 24 times more views than followers in only 6 days after releasing a video about Stargate destiny. This is the perfect demonstration of how desperately we all want new Stargate episodes!
I know I'm so shocked at the views my favourite franchise is stargate. I watched new episodes every week on TV growing up eagerly awaiting the next. it's been so long since we had any new Stargate stuff it's still great to see the fan base still loves it
That was interesting. I liked that you left in pauses and stumbles in the video. So much better than all the AI on UA-cam. Subscribed
thanks, I wanted to give a human feel to my video and to have the feel that I'm talking to the audience, granted I'm reading a script that I wrote and my reading is pretty awfull but I hope having my face on screen makes it more personal than just having vocals 😊

12:56 "KINO" Dispenser - i really wanted a episode where the kinos run out
(maybe because Eli made more levitating table tops) and Eli uses a kindo to fly throug hthe dispenser pipe and finds a Workshop room / a assemble line , a ancient 3D printer - a new Room / a place from where our Destiny Crew gets all the spare parts they need (bit by bit)
- there simply MUST be a repair shop onboard
- if you build your ship to survive battles you have to plan for repairs
@HugoBolzer oh no doubt the ship was stocked with spare parts and mechanical rooms the show probably would of covered it at some point they did however find the repair robot amd it the comics the ship uas like hundred of them that fix destiny to new ish

For someone so evidently just starting here in YT I must admit I'm quite impressed in the quality of your videos.
A couple of notes,

Second video I've watched of yours, enjoying the Stargate content. Keep up the amazing work. :D
Hope one day you can use the dimensions of the BC-304 class from your past video for the Wraith Cruiser and Hiveship in future videos.
they are definitely on the list of ships I want to breakdown thanks for the comment
@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y You're so welcome.
@@ultramarinus2478 hyperspace is a different dimension outside of normal space
This was my favorite Stargate series, RIGHT next to SG1. Damn shame it was axed too soon.
yh i feel you this show had great potential
@jamesabernethy7896 sgu is a very different tone than sg1 sga but the story had so much potential. in sgu s2 it started to get really good it was a shame I would of like to of seen more

cheers buddy my reading is a tough hull to climb but I'm getting better 👍
My first video due to random Algorithm and it was very informative.
And with the real human aspect of the video was more enjoyable. Because everyone makes mistakes, and there's nothing wrong with making mistakes.

Congrats, amazing to see this Channel grow so fast just two month after you talked about maybe doing a second channel.
I know I'm amazed myself I can't thank everyone enough for the support they shown this channel
Here's the deal: I subscribe, you keep this PS1-style intro for the foreseable future.
Ah, a new channel. Good luck with it and keep making fun videos.
@thomasrodgers2291 yes I would imagine both locations having ancients small arms but irl cgi cost having them all the time would be expensive but we did see 2 types of anceint small arms in atlantis with the stun button on the aruroa and the handgun stunner the replicators had so we did see them just never found them plus in the show after the replicator took over atlantis once defeated the weapons where left behind and never use so earth prob prefferd guns over them
Universe was easily the best of the three Stargate shows.
definitely had great potential for storytelling in the unknowns of the universes for me I don't rate any of the 3 shows better than the others I love all of it equally as it tells a continuous story from one show to the next building on the universe but if I had to choose I think I would go atlantis sg1 universe but only just
To me the SGU was the worst of the 3 shows ,completely ruined the series formula that worked so well for SG1 & SGA.
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y
Did like the earlier shows about hunting for raw materials to fix things but hated the mind stone stories, liked season 2 stories of Blockade and the cat creatures on that one planet, it is an interesting story i just think they/ writers were handling it wrong, trying to hard to make it into Battlestar G. And you know if it had gotten a season 3 it would have de- evolved into the new alien crew member getting added on ,like Spock, 7 of 9, or even a new T'lec, maybe a new one like Space 1999 , Maya added at last season. My brother use to say that all TV shows should end after season2 because the writers just run out of ideas and the shows get dumber.
agreed, SGU was the only I ever watched, the only one tolerable and believable. its tone wasnt all cheesy
You forgot that the shields also protect it when going through a star to recharge.
Also when the kamikaze attack to Destiny happens, Eli has calibrated the shield to focus on the specific energy frequency range of the drone weapons, thats the only reason the kamikaze attacks did damage to the hull.
@cypherdk85 if you watched the video I explained all that
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y well you said that the shield had 3 uses, and protecting form stars wasn't one.
You also said that it wasn't able to withstand kinetic energy
@cypherdk85 At the end of the shield segment, I say it also protects the ship in a star and it the segment I say about shield I say in that battle the shield was set to resist the energy of the drones
@@cypherdk85@8:40 I say about the shields resistance and after that I say about the shields protecting it in the star
Always seemed like a huge amount of ship internal volume for the amount of rooms we got to see. Everything on the show seemed to take place within the top pyramid of the ship. Perhaps the bulk of the ship was energy storage of some sort?
possibly in the comics we see a lot more of the internals including power storage and more stasis room so yh I imagine theirs a lot more to find
Forgot about the repair drones.
SGU was so good. So glad they used the same filming style as BSG. Mostly because the same people were involved.
I love the Destiny, its one of my favourite ship from Sci-Fi. I've 3D Printed her so many time :)

Great resource! Thanks for putting it together for us!
@@j.chappel1160 your welcome
i think if it has 3 shuttle pads the anchents would only place 2 shuttles,
as the 3rd would be for some other shuttle ,
you couldn't use a gate to get on and off the ship,
so i think pad 3 was a intencanaly left empty
possible but only a destiny shuttle could dock so why would they leave one empty no one eles is docking with the ship but its plausible none the less
Such a GREAT show !!!
Like Firefly
it was ahead of its time I enjoyed it and wish there was more. the story was unique and had potential for great story telling and the destiny was a great ship with vast potential
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Given the power an ascended being has and more so as a group, they would have been able to find out the origin and meaning of the CMBR without too much effort.
@TheTonyMcD I did a different video on a speed breakdown go check that out
I hope your channel grows fast. You're gonna want to start editing these a little to cut the misspoken parts.
cool!
1:25 Correction. The Alternans were before the Ancients and the Orai separated into to factions.
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Ybtw- the writers swiped my math for the last episode from the Stargate MMO forum ( the if we miss the galaxy by X %)
@lasarith2 2600feet is around 790m so it's not far of
Has anyone noticed that the shape of the Star ship Destiny is the exact same shape as the navigators pendent in Wing Commandor movie.think maybe the same designers involved in both.
my very personal mini theory ... the Destiny and the Seed ships look alot like the SGU stargate Chevrons
should the Fleet of seed ships ever arrive at their destination
They could be able to form a Space Gate ... with all that power from each of them it should be possible to bring the Destiny Home after the mission is complete and bring the Message back to earth

Excellent video - thanks

Interesting , Thank You
Glad you enjoyed it
Haha just did a Rerun of SGU. 😅 algorithm is working great
Even if I love Destiny, after thinking about it, I consider it the weakest forward ship in the franchise, even if we forget it's current capacity at 40%.

In some parallel universe SGU had its full story told, I'm sad i'm not in that universe
me to I would of love to of seen it
SG Universe was the best, i miss it.
@user-yn7ll3qz1p it had so much potential I miss it to
best show ever, got axed but didnt deserve it
Ok info, but I'm kinda wondering, if the ship was made to be unmanned, why is there crew quarters?
The only show ive ever done that for
same here my friend, same here... my heart broke when i didnt get to learn this magnificent story.
bro i love it
thanks you comment is greatly appreciated
Nice video.
thanks. I appreciate your comment
Stargste universe was for me the best star gate series...why did they axe it never understood there dissision great cast great story utter madness .
@Eaglestorm27 I do another video on the ftl to correct my self
why didn't the AI have the crew repair the ship and replace the shuttle
in a sense destiny did do that by dropping out for supplies but ultimately destiny main goal was the mission so it set a timer and carried on regardless of the human cost later after the bridge was discovered the timer was over ridden plus the crew made substantial repairs anyway. the dome for instance was fixed and used as a garden until it broke again and I don't know what you mean with the shuttle as I've explained in the vid about the shuttles at the end
still mad we didn't get a season 3

How many decks?
honestly not sure there's no official info on decks but my guess based on lights on the outside 12 decks on the aft pyramid part and the rest of the ship round 5 to 10 given the thickness of the rest of the ship but that's just a guess from looking at a pic of the ship
Aboard the Nimitz carrier I served, each deck was 10 feet, about 3 meters. So with overall height of 130 meters, at most 43 decks.
@whirledpeaz5758 I was going to say around 40 cause of the height of the ship, but I thought it might be more accurate to count the decks from a pic. don't forget you have to add hull thickness floor thickness and other cavities that hold air vents and pipes it would be great to have a cross section of the ship.
If Destiny launched without a crew, why were the oxygen scrubbers used up?
one possible reason is the age of the ship, and the compound used in the scrubbers has a life span that expired by the time the icarus crew arrived its stated in the show destiny launched without a crew on autopilot but you have to take into account that the ship is like 50 million years old stuff breaks
They did the fans dirty the way they ended SGU
the comic book run of back to destiny was pretty good and continuing it a bit definitely makes for and intreasting read
This show could have done so much more if they gave it a chance. Such a travesty they shut it down after 2 seasons. 😞
totally agree
destiny only has access to 40% of its reserve power.
@frabe81118 it the show they say can only charge up to 40% of max capacity due to age. I could be wrong tho will have to check the info on it
It is just my theory, but i think, that ancients, when sending the expedition of Seeders and Destiny, prepared even for a situation, when
A) too much of the Seeders got destroyed/lost/crippeled, and/or
B) Destiny itself get too old to fly onwards, cripplingly dammaged or destroyed.

It broke down quite a bit...
