    I am so happy I found your channel ! I suffer from BPD and CPTSD and it’s really hard for me to hold down everyday jobs . I recently got fired and it gave me the idea to start doing art and I’ve always really loved stained glass . I’m so excited to order my beginners kit :) I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me and I am so grateful for you !

    If you live in Pa... I promise you it's worth the trip to Youghiogheny Glass warehouse. Esp during one of their BIG sales. (about twice a year).

    Could you do a video about the smoke absorber thing you use when soldering and how you stay safe from the fumes when you solder ?

    Im lucky enough to have a glass store within 25 mins drive. Its very packed though and not very organized so its more like a junkyard for glass than a showroom.
    For anyone looking for a fairly cheap way to store your glass besides cardboard boxes on the floor like i used for months, i got a 4 cube shelf from Target that's meant to hold those fabric 13" storage cubes. Make sure you get 13" not 11". Then i bought a 4 pack of triangle vinyl album display dividers on amazon and they work perfectly. The cube shelf was about $55 at Target and the triangles were like 32.
    Finally, i bought some glass recently from Delphi and it was great quality with careful shipping. However, they did not send me a confirmation email after i ordered which left me in limbo wondering if my order was being processed or not. Days later i finally got a confirmation and ship notice. I dont know if this was a glitch or not. Hopefully they dont do this all the time.

    Thanks so much for this post as I have always wondered how someone who is a beginner learning this hobby gets sheets of decorative glass.😉👍🏻
    Has anyone ever told you how much you look like the actress Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls? As I was watching you I kept thinking how familiar you looked and then it dawned on me that you look exactly like Lauren Graham. I absolutely loved her in that show and you’re both really beautiful.😍 Weirdly enough my daughter’s name is Rachel too.😂

    I'm lucky enough to live close to Delphi, and they have scrap glass pieces in store for around $2 a pound. It is wonderful! I walked out with 50 lbs the other day. I'm just starting out and it is amazing to have lots of colors to choose from without having to buy sheets of each.

      I'm finishing my stained glass course at Delphi today and totally plan on taking advantage of that bin before I make the 2.5 hour drive home! :)

    Could you elaborate on workability/cutting/breaking/etc bad glass vs good glass? It might make for a good video topic.

    • @sunbearglasscraft8065
      @sunbearglasscraft8065  2 роки тому +2

      That's a great idea! In the meantime, I'll summarize my experience with the glass. It was relatively smooth but had some small texture bubbles in it. My cutting tool would occasionally get stuck on a bubble, but despite this the glass still cut and broke reliably and in the way I intended it to (rather than breaking in some weird, infuriating direction). Not the best glass I've worked with in terms of texture and color, but I dont feel like it was deserving of 1 star on the hobby lobby website

    I took a stained glass class in highschool and loved it! I bought all my tools separately from Amazon cause it was more affordable then buying the starter kits. I am having a hard time finding glass near me other than hobby lobby, have you or can you do a video on temu’s glass? They are very cheap but have good reviews on their website.

    I have a wonderful glass supplier, Etsy, Shop: Leslyes Glass Hut". I can not say enough good things about this shop. The owner also helps with choices because it is on line and I can't tell what is what. Example, she suggested glass for skin color. I'm very new to stained glass and never ordered skin tone glass. She has other supplies as well. Shipping is not bad and you receive quickly. I highly recommend her. She sells regular sheets and some are 8"×6", I think. I really think she is awesome!

    I've worked with cutting glass and made mosaic pieces but am about to jump into the world of solder pieces lol. I'm glad I stumbled upon your videos (lucky me) and have Def had some questions answered so thanks. Girl I keep eyes out for sales online no matter what so awesome tip, I will see what's in area for glass and I'm sure a trip to hoblob will be in order until then. If there's a way I could reach out eventually on a forum for questions is there a good one you could suggest?

I am your subcriber and like like your craft. Is it okay to have the pattern and eventually to copy it?

    I bought some glass and tools (grinder and saw) from a yard sale. Interested in getting into this so I’m brand new to the field. I got huge sheets of stained glass about 2ft x 3ft. The lady said she bought it from a place that makes it. My question is, how do I know if it’s good glass or not? I think I got a very good deal.

      Hi Richard! It's hard to say, and I'm still not the absolute best with identification of glass (although I am getting better). If the person got it from the manufacturer, it's more likely than not good glass. The only "bad" glass I've ever gotten was the thin, made in China glass from Hobby lobby, and even still it's easy to work with. I bet you did get a very good deal, especially now that large sheets like the one you got of specialty glass around anywhere from $50-$80
