Should watch the fextralife video they just made. He explains a bit of this, gives a good idea. Dont need to make your character huge to carry a lot, make one of your pawns the big boy to carry things.
Could be half elf? It makes since the elves seem to really stick to themselves in the game, probably not too involved with humans or beastren. Easily missed information: it has been stated by Capcom that will not see anything similar to goblin holes in DD2. Edit: This comment was made without consideration for the time it takes to create and post content. Being this close to any release date, It's most likely that this video was complete before the information was public and only became available to view just now. Leaving the comment up as a lesson learned for myself.
Kinda knew most of that plus some bonus points of things I hadn’t thought but I still watched it all. now I’m pondering whether I should change mine and my pawns vocations
in the original I found being tall was best, after that I preferred heavier just not capped, because it effected how much you could carry. but if you needed the run speed and climbing bonus, you could still be tall but light.
Great video guy, liked and shared on my Discord, and saved it for future reference. One teeny, tiny correction, and it's probably me being pedantic, but the word "metamorphosis" places more emphasis on the "morph" syllable than on the "o" syllable. In fact, typically the "o" is nearly a "schwa" vowel that is lightly danced over rather than given a real strong pronunciation. My main pawn is an absolute unit of a Beastren, named after my dearly departed fur son, Merlyn. He's tall, wide and has this huge mane of fur around his bowling ball-sized head. He's going to be my Fighter and keep things taunted while I whittle away at things with my Archer (will likely switch to Magic Archer once it's available) so I can plink away in relative safety.
There was a LOT of speculation a few weeks ago about the impact of character size, however, with the game having been out for awhile now, it has been shown that almost all size adjustments in character creator are just appearance only and doesn't impact gameplay. Longer arms don't give you further reach, etc. What DOES impact your weight carrying is your vocation, which IMO is stupid in a game that wants you to switch vocations, but penalizes you for doing so. Thus, a Fighter can carry more than a Mage. I started as a Fighter, but then when I swapped to Mage, suddenly my carry weight was a lot less, so I had to spend a lot more time with inventory management than I had to when I was Fighter. Thus, most of what you say in this video applies ONLY to DD1 and NOT DD2.
It's possible that size does not impact carry weight. Vocation definitely has the most dramatic effect on carry limit. But my friend made a short character while I made a tall one, and even though we were the same vocation I was able to carry more. Not a ton more, but definitely significant. Maybe there is another explanation though.
The weight and height in DD2 does not affect your max stamina anymore it stays the same when you go from SS all the way to LL. It seems only to affect your Stamina recovery and your max encumbrance.
Each of the inclinations have an obvious pairing of the base vocations. Kindhearted with Mage, Calm with Archer, Simple with Thief, Straightforward with Fighter. That being said, there's nuance to inclinations that allow you to mix and match for interesting results. A calm mage could potentially be more suitable as they focus on defense, evasion and self-preservation, avoiding getting themselves into danger and thus able to continue casting, buffing and healing. A kindhearted fighter could result in a guardian role, putting themselves into harms way in order to protect their allies. A straightforward thief would prioritize getting into the thick of it and be more aggressive, this could also be great for a warrior or sorcerer. Simple is similar to an inclination in the first game that would often ignore fights in favor of picking up items and looting before the battle finishes. This can be useful if you want your pawn to serve as a pack mule, preferably with higher weight class. You should be able to influence inclination as you play, and change it outright with a consumable. But simply consider the sort of role you desire your pawn to fill.
@@typicalgoodguyclub4games If you want an aggressive, combat focused archer, it probably will be. But, since archer is technically a new playstyle, I don't know how effective it will be.
i just finished full quest line elden ring with your videos, now im rdy to jump intro dragon dogma 2 and it was a surprise to see you are in too!, great to have you back man, i will see your videos os dg2 for sure! :D
Same. I made a big ol fighter beastren giant. But also a 5'5 female, elvish looking archer. My main character, that i made to look like myself, is 5'9 72kg. So kinda middle of the road. If the carry limit wasnt a thing it would be easy to pick the female archer baddie lol.
I created the Arisen a female human archer who looks like an elf (where is the elf class ??😢). And the Main Pawn a female Beast Mage. The other 2 pawns shall be close combat fighters.
I feel like as is typical with so many other games recently, this game had a lot of intended content cut from it. I don't get giving us elf ears, but then not having them as a playable race (was probably cut content). I don't get the vocational distribution. It seems like a mess with a lot of last minute tweaks. I feel like we're missing some vocations as well. I'm so tired of games releasing feeling like large swaths of them are unfinished. But the first game had the same problem, so..
I wonder if they will keep the same stat progression as dd1. I'm dd1 each level you getting while on a certain vocation would increase certain stats. For example the fighter would gain the highest hp bonus and physical defense per level over any other classes. I hope they don't keep it like that and stats just change depending on gear/currently equipped class
It’s hard to say. There are lots of improvements I would have liked to see from the first game. From what I’ve gathered, basically nothing that I thought could have been improved, was improved. I still think it will be a good game, but I also feel like there are going to be many missed opportunities for making the game better than its predecessor.
So what would be suggested for, say, the mystic spearhand? I'm asking because I can't seem to find equal footing between mage and fighter when designing my character.
@ItsShatter After the first main quest you can go back to Melve, it will be under attack by a dragon, if you use a thief it will be easier to get the weapon by spamming square and having steal item function core skills. Sigurd will also be there (guy with a spear) talk to him to unlock Mystic Spearhead early :) Edit: I did find that you have to actually talk to Brant again and report that you did the first main quest, just 1 of them. Otherwise the Dragon doesn't show up.
Just play what you want tbf. There will be mods for infinite weight limit and no stamina use while running at some point. No reason to min/max your first playthrough :) HF
I heard in a video that the longer the character also decreases the slashing speed, is this true or no? cause thats the only reason why i would actually wanna make my char shorter
Limb length is another potential factor, it affects reach and attack speed. For the Spearhand, long reach can be a big boon, but you may prefer to unleash your attacks a bit faster. For how the footage of Spearhand has been, I'd say an average or taller character would be more ideal. Melee would generally favor higher weight capacities, longer reach (unnecessary for ranged attacks) and being harder to knock down.
I hate the size factoring into gameplay this much. Really tears you between making a character you like to look at and just a giant that looks out of place. Like I want to be a thief to start but also want to try out other vocations. So if I make him smaller to get stamina benefits, I’ll be screwed if I ever want to switch to fighter or warrior. But if I make him huge so I can carry a bunch, I’ll suck as a thief. Def wish they did away with that
Yeah I agree. I wanted to make my character as close to my appearance as possible. Unfortunately I’m not a 7 ft Goliath so that is not gonna happen lol. But yeah, it’s a weird thing for them to keep around. Not a huge fan of all inventory causing encumberment either. Definitely prefer the way Souls games/ Elden ring handles equipment loads.
Well, I am sorry to say that it is unlikely I will do a 100% walkthrough for either. Those take a ton of work and usually require that I play the game in question many times over. I only do those for games that I play many times over.
