    Note: Without saying to much, we’re currently looking into many C8 replacemnet options and even though the Dark Horse is nothing like any other Mustang and was referenced as an example 9:24, it is not the replacement for the C8 Corvette "70th Anniversary". It goes without say that the C8 replacement will be more expensive and faster to say the least. I'll post an update once we figure out what we’re purchasing next! Stay tuned…Cheers

      A dark horse is exactly like every other "crap stang!" The only mustang that's worth buying is the GT500! The dark horse is trash! Just another gimmick!

    • @MyCalculatedRandomness
      @MyCalculatedRandomness  2 місяці тому

      This is a strong comment that literally contradicts itself? Giving you the benefit of the doubt, let me explain. The Dark Horse and GT500 both share the following: Engine internals which is the heart of any engine, Brakes, which out brakes the Porsche GT2RS "ua-cam.com/video/Jgrmlffh_y8/v-deo.htmlsi=y9vhYmgchC5dQ8v6" and the exhaust. Essentially you're saying the GT500 is a "Crap Stang and Trash" as well.

    Giving a C8 up for a crappy dark house is straight lunacy! There's more than just having a more powerful car. If you really wanted to go all out, you should have gotten a 911/992 Turbo S! The dark horse is just another gimmick mustang.

      I have no problem to agree to disagree, I've owned one C7 Grandsport, two C8 Corvettes and four Mustangs. As I've stated in the upload, IT was the thought process of upgrading to 750 + to the tires that was decided factor and no one can deny how much this Coyote platform has taken over the racing seen, rather you like Mustangs or not. ua-cam.com/video/38bKHfzPICM/v-deo.htmlsi=TYtvrIs1SQ49E7Jq.
      With that being said, your absolutely correct the 911/992 Turbo S, is on the list and is by far one of my all time favorite platforms. I've had to the pleasure of driving a few and have lots of friends who own them, amazing to say the least!

      You comment speaks volumes about you knowledge of performance cars typical GM fan boy there a plenty of other car makers who make amazing performance cars. GM dropped the ball on the C7Z06 with the overheating issues. The C8's including the Z06 have DCT trans problems and build quality issues. I have had 7 Vette over the last 10 years and would not own a C8 period the C7Z06/ZR1 and the C6ZR1 are the last of the real Corvettes. After owning many Vette and all of there issues there not supercar quality and do not command the prices there asking for them. My C7Z has 12k in mods cost a fraction of the new C8Z and will walk it like the dog it is the motor has no torque. Sounds cool like a wannabe 458 I would take a dark horse, GT 500 a Raptor R, TRX BMW M4 CSL and many other over a C8Z epic fail by GM as usual.

    It's good to hear honest feedback on the car. I went through the same thing with the i8. The manufacturer let a lot of people down. Not all, but many, and it's something we have to talk about. There will be better cars and better experiences. I have zero, absolutely nothing, to say bad about my NSX and am so glad I switched to this platform after what I experienced in the past. Your happiness is more valuable than what the C8 has offered you.

    I’ve had a 2020 3LT Stingray for three years. Loved that car to death up until I got the 3LZ C8/Z07

    I truly understand every point . I just bought my c8 z51 92k out the door. After realizing how quiet the exhaust is it lead me into being intrested for upgrades.
    Wanting to do a Supercharge which is around 22-30k.
    In conclusion, a Supercharged Eray would be the ideal setup. Awd with upgrade ability for standard 6.2 liter engine

    Good objective assessment. I enjoy my C8 a lot but realizing that going down the path of major modifications doesn't sound worth it to me either. Makes more sense to wait to upgrade to the Z06 or Eray if you want to modify for power. Hopefully prices on supercharger or turbo kits come down drastically to make it more practical to upgrade the Stingray.

      Spot on bud, this is exactly where I was coming from. I was looking at nearly 40k to be where I wanted and decided to incorporate the funds into another platform or platforms. 12k in and the Dark Horse makes more than 800 HP to the tires reliably with a bolt on Whipple, 93 octane, no internal motor, axle, or transmission upgrades needed. What's not to love.. That said, I wouldn't have purchased two C8's if I didn't think they were amazing as well. Feel free to keep me posted on how your C8 is coming along. Cheers

I’m also not interested in chasing horsepower or modifying the car. That’s pointless to me. If I wanted more horsepower, I’d go ahead and get the Z06 or ZR1 when that’s released. Other option is to buy a base coupe used and send it to Lingenfelter for their supercharge kit.

    I honestly never understood these "Special Editions" on the base models as they have always just been an appearance package/option like any other option package with one exception was the convertible 427 C6 which was like the 96 Manual C4's that all got the Grand Sport LT4 motor.
    The most perfect example of this was the C8R when I saw that I was like cool what do you get with the R? It was just appearance you didn't get more power or better brakes, it was a C8 with an R next to it :)

    • @MyCalculatedRandomness
      @MyCalculatedRandomness  2 місяці тому +1

      Completely agree bud, as I did mention this at the 13:34 mark. This is due the weight of the Dark Horse. Over all the Dark Horse Coyote engine with the GT500 internals is one of the best platforms to build on. Achieving over 800 + HP to the tires reliably on 93 octane, aided by an Whipple blower, without touching the engine/internals is amazing and something the C8 cannot do.

    • @MyCalculatedRandomness
      @MyCalculatedRandomness  2 місяці тому

      Great question bud and sorry for any confusion, the following explains what I meant when I was referring to "To the tires". Hope this helps.... Cheers
      "Wheel horsepower or to the tires, is the amount of power measured at the wheels of the vehicle. This is also called “xxx horsepower to the ground or to the tires" as it is the amount of power made by the vehicle as a whole and not just the engine. The wheel horsepower number is usually lower than the engine horsepower number by about 15%, depending to the transmission, Stick or Auto. This is because the power made by the engine is influenced by the transmission, drivetrain, vehicle weight, tire and wheel size, gear, and other external variables such as weather, altitude and what type of dyno the vehicle is on. In other words, WHP is the amount of horsepower that a vehicle actually makes on the ground".

    Sir I get what you are saying. But I think we are forgetting when you compare the two cars and for the price differences that you can get the ford for a lil cheaper and it has things ready to take more power is Chevy has all aluminum frame and body is all fiberglass if I’m not mistaking and I’m sure that weighs into cost and bang for your buck. Don’t think the mustang has that which they can put that money towards better internals. Gotta give and take a lil.

    White seats and depreciation? [That's on you] Built the C8 stronger? [Wrong, well for the most part.] Louder exhaust? [Easy to change for decent price.] If the C8 is not a good car, then just say it sucks and move on. Your reasoning is weird. Chevy needs to wake up? I had C8 Stingray Z51 and kept up with Porsches and other high end cars easily. Now I have a C8 Z06. I can easily keep up with the GT500, etc. I have a friend that owes a GT500, so I know. I own a root beer and a few other Rolex watches and love to collect firearms. Reason I went with 2020 C8 and chose to wait on the ZR1. The C8 is a base car you really thought you wouldn't have to change simple things like brakes, axle, exhaust etc. to build that car. It wasn't meant to be a Z06 or ERAY.........

    I am sorry but you knew the platform it was your second C8 . You just thought because you got close to MSRP for the first one the second one will be the same . It was a different time on the first one you can’t compare it . Your new car would get zero attention in Miami were I live . My C8 I out aftermarket exhaust from AWE , carbon fiber everywhere, paragon springs to lower it , HRE wheels , PPF , ceramic coating, and ceramic tints . It cost me about 20 thousand to do all that but it transformed my rapid blue C8 convertible.

    😅 there is no “special edition“ c8 honestly as manufacturers use it to think you will be the only one with it but they just make it a standard edition next year. I have owned c6’s and c7’s but never a c8 as dealers were and are ripping off customers. Don’t get me wrong the c8 is awesome but “special “ is not as they have made so many already and the MSRP is crazy but that’s just the car market right now. When I bought c7 zo6 for 80,000 out the door with 3lz package in 2017. But in the c8 you are looking at $120,000 out the door is just nuts. If you want “special “ buy a viper or so really rare car but no corvette will ever be that unless it was like the 1964 grand sport.
    All the modern day “special edition “ cars that manufacturers do are really no different then the regular models other then color changes. So there is no value add long term. Ram did the same thing with the trx but it’s still just a regular trx in different colors.
    I say all this because corvettes are awesome for what they are but are NOT special not collectors cars.
    I have learned there is no point in modifying cars as you only get $0.20 on the dollar back UNLESS you are doing it for yourself not for resale value. All the modified cars and trucks I have I buy with the plan never to sell. So the money I put into them doesn’t matter as it’s for me not for someone else.

      @@MyCalculatedRandomness The C7 ZR1 is the best car on the market right now other than the new G80 BMWs. Cars go 9 second quarter with a minor tune up while being able to keep up with Porches on the track. Also, the C7 ZR1 is a 200+ mph car from factory without an unlocked ECU which puts it in the Bugatti talk. Nobody mentions a Bugatti and a C8 in the same sentence. Congrats on the Dark Horse btw!

      Well said bud, C7 ZR1 is on the list to purchase, of which I've been looking forward to for some time now. Trust me the Dark Horse is not the final chapter Lol. I've been collecting cars for a long time and have no plans of stopping anytime soon. Appreciate the congrats.... Cheers

      @@MyCalculatedRandomness You’ll get that ZR1 soon. The dark horse will hold its value a lot better than the C8 which is already a huge W and you don’t have to tell people what year your car is cause they already know 😎. Keep being grateful and trust God always.

    Regardless of your rationalizations. A Corvette will always be a special car, elite and heads and tails above all else American made. But a mustang will always be JUST a mustang. No thank you!

      I appreciate your response and to be clear I never stated, nor was my reasoning/rationalizations representative of ALL Corvettes, as my decisions were only based on the C8 platform. Having said I’ve owned 3 Corvettes and 4 Mustangs, I mention this because my reasoning was based on years of ownership experience. Nonetheless I may have another Corvette back in the collection, it just won’t be a Z51 C8!

      Completely agree and thanks for the point of view. I love them both, quarter mile and track. After having a full weekend with backroads and chasing my buddies Viper, I must say this Dark Horse did not disappoint, then again that's what this car is built for. Could'n't be happier, compared to my previous C8s. Cheers....

    When sh_ting your pants running from the cops, white seats are the worse. 😉
    I will never own a C8 and I worked for Chevy Engineering. 🙂
    A point from an automotive engineer about your narrative of strength of internals, both engine and trans. Cars aren't made to be modified. Most that modify stock performance cars make them worse....peakier power, less reliable and poorer driveability. The public has no idea what goes into the development of powertrains and how synergistic all the parts are.
    Pro tip: Buy the horsepower car you want from the factory and don't try to build it. It will be cheaper, more reliable and biggest reason is, stock cars always have higher resale than a modified performance car.

    • @MyCalculatedRandomness
      @MyCalculatedRandomness  2 місяці тому

      Thankfully running from an officer has never been an option Lol. Having said that, I partially agree as some cars such the Dark Horse were specially built for the track and to modify, hence is the reason why Ford introduced the GT500 internals solely.for this Coyote platform. I do agree, most of the public has no idea as to the many years of research and engineering that goes into the powertrains or cars in general. As far as the Pro Tip: I do agree it is cheaper and more reliable to leave it stock, however resale value's on high end custom builds have been selling "Barrel Jackson, sometimes way more than the stock variations. Time's have definitely changed as far as that aspect!
