Right with you on the "skellington". As an avid Pratchett reader, how could I NOT be?
Sitting stationary in Traffic watching Cyclists & Motorcycles trickle past (the only ones able to move) and taking an hour to go 15km... twice a day, was the Catalyst to me getting a Bike. after 30 years of driving, and being into CAR racing, I had never even considered a Motocycle before, It had never interested me. But I saw the way they were able to not only beat the congestion, but reduce congestion by not being part of it themselves. So I brought a Moped, a cheap way of testing the water, not spending a fortune, not having to go through the license if I didn't like riding, just a simple & expendable scooter.
And as it turned out, I had to start saving, in 6 months I had deliberately held off other expenses and purchases in order to get the funds in hand to buy a Brand New Suzuki V-Strom 250SX, as well as riding gear, insurance, registration etc. Not a pleasant time, but one that had a purpose.
So for those who get upset at riders being able to leave the congestion to the idiots who CHOOSE to sit in it. You are Idiots, you could very easily use a brain cell, and choose to NOT sit in the congestion! (as well as have a fun thing to do in the weekend and meet the best people in the process!)
Stay focused and enjoy the ride. Keeps a person from being complacent 😎

could not agree more about the wafting around looking at stuff, speed is great and fun but it's a small slice of our pie of awesome. Same thing is even worse in the ebike world - "how fast can it go" I got one that would do 30 then did 11 everywhere :D

The filtering thing is just jealousy they hate the fact you can get ahead of them and they are stuck in traffic. People in the uk are just selfish nowadays when it comes to driving and sharing the roads with other users.

I can say so many people in Perth Western Australia hate riders filtering, do get the nice ones that will move over and give a bit of space and I always give them a nod or thank you wave, but the ones that hate it will do anything to block you in and if you manage to get through they will try and chase you down just so they can be in front. It’s so stupid and it boggles my mind that people are that petty and small minded.
If they get jealous why dont drivers just get on two wheels. In Spain the drivers are more patient due to the higher number of bikers.
I'm learning for more and more people today that I really should do something with youtube shorts...

Yeah, factory steering locks are crap and they always have been since the 70s and they literally do not seem to have significantly improved and takes the average scrote 30 seconds to destroy it and along with it the ignition barrel on modern bikes, at least in the 70s they were separate 🤷🏻♂️

You know, observations of people who ride certain bike are funny... like all the Hipsters, and it is only the Hipsters, that ride Royal Enfield's (at least here in Auckland New Zealand)

Too much gear is needed for bikes, you have to wear a medieval armor to get started, where's the fun in that? Especially when we get 27C.
So, these cagers that get unhappy about motorcyclists filtering.
Do they have bicycles?
Do they sit in a 1/2 mile long queue when traffic slows when they're on their bicycle? Do they take to the pavement? Do they ride up the gutter? Do they filter?
There's an interesting thought.
From someone just starting out the notification thing doesn't make any noticeable difference for me. Filtering videos get a lot of views with a lot of angry comments but the conversion rate is awful most of the time. 10k views may get me 5-10 subs. I have noticed that I get capped at 5k or 10k most of the time anyway.

Car drivers are simply jealous of bikers also selfish, distracted and angry much of the time.
Not so sure you are getting fresh air when riding amongst traffic lol.
I ride electric mountain bikes off roads as much as possible so deal with different jealousy etc but air is fresh at least,.i can really taste the fumes when i ride in traffic.
Im thinking of getting back into motorbikes , i loved riding before kids came along but the traffic really does spoil what could be a nice relaxing ride,
Yes i know sometimes dealing with the traffic is kind of fun in its own way too...
