  • On December 9, 2023, the Florida East Coast Railway operated its annual Toys for Tots Santa "Christmas" train. I decided to try something different this year and instead of just going to a single stop, I decided to chase the train as long as reasonably possible. This ended up being a trip covering over 200 miles from end to end and resulted in 12 catches of the train between the stops and intermediate locations.

That's such an awesome program! With all the trains running here in Northwest Indiana, you'd think we'd have something like that. Besides at some of the fabulous rail museums, I can't say I've ever seen something advertised let alone in person. Thanks for sharing!

That was quite a decent arrangement of 'Deck the Halls'. Must check it out.

That new livery is rather good, mind you I don't think the FEC has ever had a bad one, thanks on another great vid, all the best and Happy Christmas from Lancashire, UK

These Christmas trains ALWAYS make me smile. Get your trains up under the tree!! Every year my dad would pull out his metal Lionel trains. Thank you for taking the time to follow the train for so long. That still of the train at night is great!

Watched this as we were heading to Richmond, VA. Little did I know that short time later we would have a half hour delay while the conductor had to check one of the cars on Amtrak 1753 ( Auto-Train ). We got stopped by a hotbox detector while there as nothing wrong with the car. And due to that, we got stuck behind a 25MPH freight. So number 53 was 2 hours late getting into Sanford. But it was a smooth run at those speeds. The crew did a good job getting the train ready for 1852 as it left Sanford on time. Spent the night last night in Ft Pierce but was too tired to go and watch the FEC trains go by.

Was hoping to see you catch it at the Port Orange Depot. You are welcome to railfan there anytime.

I wonder if Brightline, let alone Amtrak, will ever do a Toys For Tots/Christmas train.

Amtrak has been involved in this year's Operation Toy Train in the northeast

It’s nice they do this every year for the kids. If you haven’t seen the CP Holiday train, take a look, quite impressive.

Because it would only take upgrading the line between Cocoa and Jacksonville do you think it would cost another 4 billion to get brightline to Jacksonville?

Maybe not 4 billion but it would definitely be in the billions
