can you get blocked fallopian tubes from BV?
UPDATE: I had a HSG test done again yesterday and both tubes are blocked. Now I just have to figure out my next step to get pregnant.

This is a great question. There is a risk even with tubal reversal that tubes may not be able to be reversed, risk of if they are reversed they could still block in the future, and risk of ectopic pregnancy. Patients should be counseled on these risks prior to having a tubal reversal. I'm not aware of a specific percentage of risk, but patients should be aware of these risks.

I had an ectopic pregnancy. No symptoms until rupture. Do not smoke. Pretty healthy. Had some stress and when I was younger some infections. I had to get transfusions- needless to say it was very traumatic. I got pregnant pretty quickly after that and it was a chemical pregnancy. I'm nervous if I try again it'll either be another ectopic or idk maybe the chemical pregnancy might have hurt my last tube. Like is it a good sign I had a chemical pregnancy with this last tube as it baby made it to my uterus however just didn't stick because of bad chromosomes? This is all a mystery still to me and I just want for everything to be ok next time.

Hello!! To answer your question from my experience. Back in May I had to have an emergency surgery because I was pregnant and didn’t know and my tube had ruptured. Which was an ectopic pregnancy. I had an hsg performed in June. Ok August I got pregnant again but this time I caught it early. But sadly another ectopic pregnancy which is what I’m going through now. So my guess is both my tubes were blocked before I even got pregnant and just didn’t know. I’m suppose to get the hsg again and way out my options and hopes they can repair it because this is the most I ever been depressed. Just letting you know from my experience you can be prone to it. Have to talk to your doctor and figure out your options. I hope things work out in your favor ❤️

Alright. So, my hcg at 5 weeks 0 days was 2,960. 48 hrs later it rose appropriately to 5,841. Then, another 48 hrs later i got it tested for my peace of mind and it only rose to 6,163. 3 days later it dropped to 5,557. I got a scan and it showed a sac and yolk but not fetal pole. So, the OBGYN told me i was miscarrying. Well, she scheduled another scan a week later to be conservative. There was a heartbeat of 115bpm with appropriate growth since the last scan (using gestational sac). I got my hcg tested again snd progesterone too. My hcg slightly went up to 6,139 and my progesterone fell to 10 (the most it ever was was 20 at my first hcg draw). So, i got on progesterone. Im super worried about my pregnancy. My doctor is worried its abnormal but she has hope. What could possibly cause this IF it is a normal pregnancy? If it’s abnormal, what kinds of issues are going on? Thankyou for your time. I recently had a HSG done, but it was unsuccessful. The doctor said there’s an a small overgrowth of tissue that is blocking the opening of the cervix. When I did my papsmear, my PCP said the results looked fine.
1) Would this decrease my chance of conception?
2) What would be an alternative method to check to see if my tubes are open?

An alternate way to see if tubes are open is a surgical procedure called a Laparoscopy. Please discuss this with your fertility specialist.

This depends on the type of blockage: proximal tubal blockage vs hydrosalpinx. Please see your fertility specialist for advice for your particular situation.
