Obi Wan had his own astromech droid in Episode II Attack of the Clones. It was called R4, it accompanied him to Kameno and Geonosis. Though as a jedi knight, the droid may have technically belonged to the Jedi Order and not Obi Wan specifically. So what he said was true. From a certain point of view.
Technically. . . Han fired. Not 'fired first,' which implies that Greedo actually got a shot off before his guts boiled. Which was exactly what a guy like Han would do. . . it's why he's still alive. It also shows, unequivocally, what a jagoff Han was, which makes his transformation into General of the Rebellion even more meaningful. Both Leia and Obi-Wan set up the entire reason for Stormtroopers' bad aim. . . At the Jawa massacre, Obi-Wan says, 'These blast points, not made by Sand People. Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise.' Later, Leia reminds Han that they escaped too easy, they were allowed to escape.
I agree with you @revdraco. I've been fighting this battle online for decades. Han DID NOT SHOOT FIRST. Because this would imply that Greedo shot. If anyone actually watches the first and the original (1977) version of Star Wars they would see that GL wanted to make Han a cold-blooded killer to set up his character arc.
I'm surprised that these facts aren't mentioned: "Star Wars is a movie." "Luke is a human." "Darth Vader has black armor." "The special editions suck." "The Death Star is in the shape of a circle." It's great that we moved from stating the obvious and having narrators that sound like they're going to hang themselves in boredom to actual facts and narrators that sound like they give a shit. Great job.
Han unsnaps his holster under the table while appearing to absent mindedly play with some decoration on the wall behind him, meaning he was planning an ambush. Han shot first.
44 is wrong. The Vader twist was added after new hope finished, just before empire finished filming. Vader isn't pronounced the same as the Dutch and German words anyway, and Vader most likely comes from inVADER, just like how darth sideous comes from INsideous
Huh, I knew that Dutch/German is pronounced differently and is probably coincidence (Vader didn't come up with the idea/plot twist until later). But I don't remember connecting it with invader before.
Ben Plummer the writer and narrator obviously know SHIT about Star Wars and are just focused on cranking out clickbait videos by vomiting up pop culture references without actually knowing anything at all about the subject matter.
Peter Mahew was not offered the role of Darth Vader. David Prowse was offered a choice between Darth Vader & Chewbacca. He was an established professional actor. Peter Mayhew was not.
Stop this Vader=Father stuff already. Even in the German Version Darth Vader is called Darth Vader and nobody hearing Vader will think "oh, that sounds like Vater" (because it doesn't). AND Lucas didn't know he would turn out to be Luke's father anyway, so...
+kyotaiken he stumbled over Tunesia so it sounded similar to Tanzania. He said "tun-sa-nia" instead of "tu-ne-she-a". He got it right(ish) in 33 though so don't hate us! 😃😃 thanks for watching.
I dunno, if he'd said "Vater" properly he might have noticed it almost sounded the same as "Father" also, and since no one who speaks English was confused, it would have been 1 less "fact" for them. I shudder to think hat they would have come up with.
#68 is wrong. Not counting background characters, you've got Leia, Aunt Beru, Oola the Dancer and Mon Mothma. Special Edition added a few singers in Jabba's Palace, not sure if they count, though.
8:39 Funny that Tatooine was a Jungle planet in legends. It was a beautiful jungle inhabited by the ancestors of Eopies, Jawas, and Tusken Raiders. Until the Rakata suffered a disease that caused them to blame the natives and turn the planet to glass, thus breaking to become sand.
Besides... that is just a vehicle going over a sand dune... what is the same about it anyways? Just the angle of vehicle travel... *GASP* Too bad we don't sin everytime a movie shows a vehicle go in a same direction in the same environment.
i love the prequels, they show how badass obi wan was in his youth, and they explain alot of things about the originals, like how Anakin Skywalker became darth vader, and the clone wars. i know the romance part stunk but without it luke and leia wouldn't exist. cant we all agree on that?
+Joshua Bayer most of the actors of Anakin were a bit hammy, but the last one showed perfectly Anakin's descent into the dark side. Not to mention it gave us the marvelous vision of the jedis at their prime.
+MrKlausbaudelaire when he's not given shitty lines to read, Hayden Christenson is a damn good actor, watch nostalgia critics top 10 prequel things, he does him justice
4:43 sub-fact: on the day of auditions in question, Ford wasn’t even in the studio for the auditions. He was in the studio working on a carpentry job (he did work as a carpenter in addition to minor acting roles), and was asked to read Han Solo’s lines as prompts for the lines of other characters who were then being auditioned for.
Luke is the first person to say "I have a bad feeling about this" however, Luke's line is "I have a very bad feeling about this", which is the same line with an added word.
Correction 1 The Journal of "Wills" not Willis. Correction #2 James Earl Jones didn't want to be credited because he did not think voice acting was even a career or thing (In his own words). They credited him anyways. How can you say it changed his career then turn around and say he wasn't credited. Correction # 3. Carey Fisher said That George Lucas told her there were no Bras in Outter Space not Breast. That doesn't make sense..[ Wow your facts are off.
Fact 68 is false, by the way. There was the decoy princess in Episode 1, the bounty hunter in the beginning of episode 2, jedi Ayla Secura (who I guess counts as a background character in the movies) in episode 3, and now the new girl in the upcoming episode 7 making a total of SEVEN main/supporting roles in the seven Star Wars movies. Hmm, sensing a theme anyone? Oh, actually, there's also a couple more on Tattooine in episode 2 plus Anakin's mother in episode 1. BTW supporting characters are NOT the same thing as background characters.
+Mr.AnimeFreak lol we actually meant that. The fact that people care about these videos and properties as much as we do to catch something like that, we think is pretty cool. We also don't want to give out misinformation so we really do appreciate corrections.
One fact y'all missed was that of Princess Leia's changing accent. It was due to Carrie Fisher's major problem with maintaining her character's British accent.
One of the first chnges in this film happened in 1981. In 1977, the film opened with The Title Star Wars (as with all of the films) and then went into the opnening crawl. In 1981, The more famous Episode IV A New Hope was added. This was because Lucas was convinced that people watching the film would believe that they had missed the first 3 films. This is why most of us fans over the age 45 still refer to the first film as Star Wars while younger fans call it A New Hope.
James Brincefield You'd have to be a special kind of stupid to not realize what's going to happen when the opening crawl mentions a death "star", and the main character just so happens to have the surname "Starkiller".
James Brincefield Death "STAR" "STAR" Killer It would be pretty obvious upon seeing the Death Star that we would know that the hero would destroy it. It would be rather obvious.
Not only did Williams win the Oscar for best score for this, he was also nominated for Close Encounters that year. He got two of the five nominations! Honestly, he’s right up there with Beethoven and Tchaikovsky.
In Germany Lightsabers are called "Lichtschwert" which translates to "Lightsword". I allways wondered who decided to change that, but you get used to it, when you don't know it any other way.
2 more facts I can add... -When putting together the production team and crew, the Star Wars project was described as 'A Western set in space' (I guy I used to work with turned it down lol. -Another place Lucas 'borrowed' heavily from for the Star Wars universe was Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, in particular the stuff about the Galactic Empire.
Also a tribute to the storm trooper hitting his head on the door is in the new Star Wars Battlefront. There is a cut-scene where two storm troopers are walking and one hits his head on a stair case
is there a reason their not doing 107 facts about the prequels? it's my understanding that people now are just hating on them to hate on them...correct me if I'm wrong but whenever someone bases the prequels they never really give true constructive criticism all they seem to do is make jar jar jokes. were the prequels gold? no but removing the nostalgic rose colored glasses the original trilogy suffered just as much criticism. so why not instead of pretending that the movies began with 4 and end with 6 we take star wars in its entirety.
rusty shackleford I'm not going to give you a detailed list of all the things wrong with those train wrecks. If you really want one watch the Redlettermedia analysis's.
I scrolled down pretty far, and surprised no one else wrote about this? #39..."Lucas didn't want to show the future as shiny and bright." The future? Didn't this all happen A Long Time Ago?
21:30 sub-fact: 20th Century Fox had to strong-arm those 40 theatres into showing the film. You see, the film’s release date had been bumped up to avoid competition with summer blockbusters, and the theatres refused to show it on the new release date. 20th Century Fox ultimately threatened to disallow them the opportunity to show a film called “The Other Side of Midnight” (which was based on a popular novel and, unlike “Star Wars”, was projected to do well at the box office) if they refused to comply.
Harrison Ford was actually a carpenter on the set and Lucas wanted him to play Han Solo so badly that he even offered him a percentage of the movie profits (I think it was three percent - I can't remember). At the time Lucas had no idea how big the film was going to be but it made Ford very rich.
This just reinforces my disbelief that this series became so popular. I'm still going to see the new movie, but only because everyone else is hyped about it.
The Japanese word isn't jida but jidai which means period or era. Jidaigeki is the Japanese word for soap opera or period drama. Don't mean to be a snob about it but its interesting to know how much Japanese history inspired the film. Its a very popular film series in Japan too😄
They do know the name of the stormtrooper. There was an incident also, with the Sand Crawler, the neighboring country went on alert about a large military vehicle parked near their border, and Tunisia asked Lucas to move the Crawler, which they did.
Also the original crawl didn't the A New Hope title or an Episode number until The Empire Strikes Back went into development and Lucas decided to complete the Trilogy. Also giving the first hints that this was the middle of a grander story.
Whitstable is pronounced Whits-ta-ball. Just up t'road from me. Cushing lived there til his death and could often be seen taking tea in one of the town's tea rooms.
When you talk about #39 the used future, the reason also why everything looked that way is cause the Empire had full control of the economy which they used to fund their military while other plants, the rebels had to use what they had to maintain their equipment. Now back in EP1, 2 and 3 the universe is way better off with their economy and before any war broke out which let them build new equipment and easily maintain that equipment.
To this day I wonder what a Lynch-directed "Jedi" would have looked like. Jabba... Sarlacc... The Ewoks... In a parallel universe that contained that film my childhood would likely have been traumatized lol
1. I didn't know that, thank you 2. It's semi-obvious (if you stop and think) that it isn't the Equatorial trench because it is way too big if visible from far out.
They reused the name Utapau in the prequels for the planet Obi-Wan kills Grevious on. Also the guy you showed Vader force choking wasn't captain Antillis, captain Antillis is the guy he regular chokes at the beginning of the movie.
Starkiller was later used in a later game and EU material as Vader's secret force sensitive apprentice. Luke is technically from Mustafar. Sabreforge and Ultrasabres produce movie quality dueling sabre called the Graflex. These are copies of Anakin's/Vader's/Luke's/Rey's sabre named as such due to the fact that the original was made from a Graflex camera flash.
I suggested that The Star War be filmed in 1972 to Steve Spielberg. Lucas just picked up the 1963 novella. Indiana/Indie was Spielberg's girlfriend who'd been to college in Indiana, Close starts at her house. I invented the "used future" not Lucas. He just liked my idea. Darth Vader = Dark Invader. O.B. Juan Kennoby was me. Han was based on me and Bill Clinton/Steve Spielberg. Jedi came from "Do you expect us to follow Jed in there?" (It was a reference to Jed Clampet of Beverly Hillbillies.) I turned to Spielberg's complaint to say, "We are Jedi!" 1 Jed, 2 Jedi (Latin). Raiders was Bill Clinton's Idea--it came from Arkansas Bob and the Alligators--a rip off of Jungle Jim from the 1950's TV. Lucas didn't write the story. Parts were Steve, I did a few bits, but Lucas' wife did a lot. I told Spielberg to use classical music, he wanted to use guitars. Lucas is not a genius, he's a usurper.
Fact #0 : GL was almost killed in an car accident on June,11th 1962 While in coma he had a vision of ancient beings from a galaxy far far away who revealed to him the secrets of the force, the history of the Jedi vs. Sith and the tale of the rise and fall of Darth Vader. Thus the Journal of the Whills was visualised with STAR WARS I-VI
Non-James Earl Jones voice would've been quite a flop... Also, before Episode 2 was out, I swear I came across a star wars book called "Attack of the Clones" though it was set in the OT and the clones were literally clone's of the characters. If memory serves correctly the cover had two Darth Vaders. This was in a library when I was younger (17 years ago maybe) but I've never seen it again. Can't even find anything like it online.
They said Carrie Fisher hated her hair buns. I watched an interview where she said she had gained a little weight so came up with the hair buns herself to make her face look less fat.
(well now, your removing 50%+ of the comment makes my gripe seem quite baseless, but i'll leave it unaltered because the timelink is still valid.) Amber Maynard apparently you didn't take the time to actually pay attention to what the video says (specifically at 11:57 for fact #45)... -.-
Darth Vader's name came from the word "invader", as his first appearance in the movie is him invading the rebel's ship. It's just a coincidence that it means father in dutch.

24:22 that's Admiral Motti, not Captain Antilles.
Wustenfuchs My God! Your right! You are also the umpteenth person to be geek enough to notice AND post.
That's story information, not real life information. The truth is Lucsas had a keen sense of aasthetics and new a used look would feel more natural.
Which also falls into my comment
I met Peter Mayhew at geek'd con in Louisiana.
3:45 I remember that from a making of Star Wars tape I had!
To this day I wonder what a Lynch-directed "Jedi" would have looked like. Jabba... Sarlacc... The Ewoks...
In a parallel universe that contained that film my childhood would likely have been traumatized lol
In Norway kids call lightsabers laser swords or in norwegian laser sverd. I dont know why thats the norwegian name.
+Simon Bru Because that's what a Lightsaber is. Light = laser, and a saber is a type of sword.
+Mr.AnimeFreak Light = lys Laser = laser. I know i live in stavanger in norway.
Simon Bru No, I mean that a laser is basically just concentrated light energy given form. Not literal meaning.
+Mr.AnimeFreak Oh now i see. Sorry for the misconnseption
That's weird. Here in Denmark we just call them "lyssværd".
"What you talkin' bout Journal of the Willis?" Hahah!
The first 2 prequels focused more on explaining everything then having its own story. The third was REVOLUTIONARY.
Wow! Finally someone who actually stated the fact that Manson did not kill anyone
#97 References Captain Antilles from the Tantive IV, but shows Admiral Motti on the Death Star.
They didn’t actually fly down the equatorial trench (the middle one) the flew down a trench that ran north/south
1. I didn't know that, thank you
2. It's semi-obvious (if you stop and think) that it isn't the Equatorial trench because it is way too big if visible from far out.
"COINCIDENCE?! ...uh, yeah, we think yes" XD
They reused the name Utapau in the prequels for the planet Obi-Wan kills Grevious on. Also the guy you showed Vader force choking wasn't captain Antillis, captain Antillis is the guy he regular chokes at the beginning of the movie.
Going to watch Star Wars 7 the 16th YEAH HYPE!!!
+swag unicorn 17th on my country :c
+feli8907 At least not the 18th like in many other places :)
How much u buy the ticket for??? :o
How much u buy the ticket for??? :o
This supports my theory that all really good movies are more the product of chance/luck/mistakes than plans.
Actually Luke would be from Polis Massa the asteroid where he and Leia were born
the biggs reuniting scene was a special addition (pun intended) from 1997
Han Solo's blaster pistol was designed around a real gun, a 9mm Broomhandle Mauser used by the German Army between 1916 and 1918.
4:42. Haha, Harrison Ford actually vaguely resembles Adam Driver there 😃
I believe Carrie fisher was quoted as saying "there are no bras in space". Not that there are no beasts.
#108: The first Death Star had a diameter of 120 kilometers and cost the Empire over 1,000,000,000,000 galactic credits.
150*
Can you provide receipts?
Fact #0 : GL was almost killed in an car accident on June,11th 1962
While in coma he had a vision of ancient beings from a galaxy far far away who revealed to him the secrets of the force, the history of the Jedi vs.
I knew every single one of these facts
No you didn't
Liar
Because you watched the video twice and made this comment after the second time?
I'll bet your parents are proud.
John williams made the score for, Jurrasic park, Jaws, ET and Harry Potter!
Some of these "facts" are wrong.
@@peskymacaw9033 Journal of the Wills, not "willis" it's even spelled on the book as he mentions it.
... No underwear in space does not equal no breasts in space...
They're "alternative facts".
They said Carrie Fisher hated her hair buns. I watched an interview where she said she had gained a little weight so came up with the hair buns herself to make her face look less fat.
(well now, your removing 50%+ of the comment makes my gripe seem quite baseless, but i'll leave it unaltered because the timelink is still valid.)
Amber Maynard apparently you didn't take the time to actually pay attention to what the video says (specifically at 11:57 for fact #45)... -.-
Well mark hamill did say it was impossible to see in those helmets, so there was probably plenty of head bonks
Here's another Star Wars fact that you may not know. The name "Starkiller" was used the name of the main character in Star Wars: Force Unleashed.
Darth Vader's name came from the word "invader", as his first appearance in the movie is him invading the rebel's ship. It's just a coincidence that it means father in dutch.
No way Mayhew should regret picking Chewie over Vader. I love Chewie!
