This was a huge part of the german way of fighting, everyone knew the plan and were allowed to speak fairly freely of it among themselves, squad leaders were encouraged to discussing it with their men, plans were given in general, allowing each tier of the officer system to develop their strategy/tactic if executing it. You should compare it to the early postwar East German Volks armee training movies. In those movies you can see the heavy influence of former Wehrmacht officers in the tactics and procedures. For example in the movie where they were attacking a village, the equipment was all Russian but the tactics could come right out of a Wehrmacht manual.
What's interesting is that most non-biased or overtly patriotic WWII historians rate the Wehrmacht as the best trained army in WWII. At least until late war when they were running out of abled bodied men and throwing children and old men at the advancing allies.

I have not been in the military so I have not direct exoerience. We can say that Wehrmacht did not rely on a "rigid" static defence, but on a reserve, mobile force with tank destroyers (armed with powerful guns) and infantry carrying vehicles able to travel off road that would counter attack the enemy who had managed to break through. We must recognize that this tactic seems very rational and, IF the troops are cold blooded AND vehicles and weapons are serviceable, permits to defeat even larger forces, the liting factor being not the number of guns, but the rate of fire and the efficacy of such a fire. But if troops are easily scared and leaders do not know how to do, this must end in a disaster
The German training films were often pretty damn well made - and with real soldiers, and they were made as regular acted movies, unlike the American movies which took a more educational path with a narrator, charts and all that. Quite interesting difference.
I honestly thought this was Easy Red 2 just by looking at the thumbnail. Easy Red 2 takes real photos, draws them, adds some extra stuff, and there. It has some cover art.

Well, my grandmothers oldest brother was a Feldwebel in the Wehrmacht. He and one other brother of four brothers survived the war. The other brother personally gave me his Wehrpass and his medals. He was a Grenadier. Panzergruppe 4 under Gen. Hoeppner. This film gifs me a bit of an insight of how it may have been.

I believe that's Wolfgang Preiss wearing a Ritterkreuz at Regimental HQ. He played many German officer roles in his post-war acting career.

I have not been in the military so I have not direct exoerience. We can say that Wehrmacht did not rely on a "rigid" static defence, but on a reserve, mobile force with tank destroyers (armed with powerful guns) and infantry carrying vehicles able to travel off road that would counter attack the enemy who had managed to break through. We must recognize that this tactic seems very rational and, IF the troops are cold blooded AND vehicles and weapons are serviceable, permits to defeat even larger forces, the liting factor being not the number of guns, but the rate of fire and the efficacy of such a fire. But if troops are easily scared and leaders do not know how to do, this must end in a disaster

The German training films were often pretty damn well made - and with real soldiers, and they were made as regular acted movies, unlike the American movies which took a more educational path with a narrator, charts and all that. Quite interesting difference.
I honestly thought this was Easy Red 2 just by looking at the thumbnail. Easy Red 2 takes real photos, draws them, adds some extra stuff, and there. It has some cover art.

Mit Name, Geburtsdatum, damaliger Adresse und möglichst vielen anderen Daten an die Wehrmachtsauskunftsstelle WASt in Berlin wenden. Antwort dauert ewig, ist aber unter Umständen interessant. Viel Glück.

Well, my grandmothers oldest brother was a Feldwebel in the Wehrmacht. He and one other brother of four brothers survived the war. The other brother personally gave me his Wehrpass and his medals. He was a Grenadier. Panzergruppe 4 under Gen. Hoeppner. This film gifs me a bit of an insight of how it may have been.

He was later wounded by Sherman tank shrapnel to the leg and taken prisoner by the Canadians in a village (Ostbevern) close to Münster, Germany.
