  • Who's got it better than Jim Harbaugh? Nooobody! Coming off his injury, I think Justin Herbert is really going to be able to build this offense without a major spotlight on him.

    Great video. Love how Herbert stepped up with almost no notice when Tyrod Taylor’s lung was punctured by the team doctor. They almost beat the Chiefs who were the reigning SB champs at the time. Great start & he kept getting better.

      Yep. He had limited training camp experience, as in zero reps with the ones. Also was just learning how to go under center. No pre-season game. Finds out after the kick off that he’s going in. It was incredible.

      Most of the Herbert trolls are anti Duck trolls. Bo Nix has already got trolls before he takes an NFL snap.. Even Mariota was putting up great rookie numbers was treated with hate by a loud minority. A lot of jealousy of the Oregon football program with the Nike connection.

    Bolt fam, our coaches playcalling is going to be so sophisticated. It's gonna be a fun one. You think about everything Harbaugh has been able to do. Yet he's never had a QB of Herbert's level under his command. I just know he's licking his chops with the amount of plays he's gonna be able to throw.

      Although he comes from a family of coaches, I never thought he was the smartest or most sophisticated coach. His intelligence comes in assembling the best coaches and motivating his players. He would have easily gotten the SB victory over the Ravens if it wasn't for a second rate QB in Kaepernick, who was a great run-first QB but horrible pocket passer with zero touch in the red zone. As much as we think he did Alex Smith ugly by making Kaep his QB, he rose Alex Smith's career from zero to hero. It will be interesting how he would use a talent such as Herbert, as I see him opening up the run with the passing.

    All Herbert needs is good protection, 3 great receivers, and a solid RB to keep the defense honest. And a better than average defense to keep the score close enough to be in the game. You know, what every team needs. He can be as good as any QB in the league. Remember, he’s smart, too, which helps on the field. Man, that completion at 1:40 is unbelievable. I would guess that there are maybe five NFL quarterbacks who could complete this one - perhaps. You have to get it out quickly, have a very high ball speed, AND be on point too. All kinds of things could go wrong here. But I’d say Herbert, Trevor, Mahomes, and Allen might get away with this but only on a good day. I’m sure I’m missing one or two.

    I’m not exactly sure why Jordan doesn’t have more subscribers. He does get technical at times but he also doesn’t seem to intentionally go over everyone’s heads, like a Colin Kaepernik throw. Ha! Couldn’t help myself there. But I heard Jordan is a much sought-after QB coach. There are a few guys out there in the NFL who I think could really make a jump if Jordan were to work with them. Maybe Trevor? I’m a big Trevor Lawrence fan but I think he’s not great at touch passes. Trevor can absolutely throw lasers but when he has to throw the ball with touch he struggles a bit, not uncommon for a strong-armed QB. Anyways Jordan and Kurt Warner are both good at analyzing film but each is a bit different in what they concentrate on.

    • @TravisMacKenzie-bo2me
      @TravisMacKenzie-bo2me 4 місяці тому +8

      The hype for Herbert is due to his outstanding individual performance. People tend to equate team performance with how good a QB is. That’s not appropriate. Herbert has compiled historic numbers because he is good. His team has been mediocre because the Chargers have had a crap defense the entire time. Those are facts, not feelings.

    • @nsn5564
      @nsn5564 4 місяці тому +1

      That's true. His performance is elite and the NFL mostly ignores him and severely under-rates him.

    • @HQBergeron
      @HQBergeron 4 місяці тому

      Herbert has been good since high school at Sheldon. When he played his first series at Oregon, I knew he had it all and would be a star. We’ve seen some good QBs at Oregon, but he had something more. Then they made the mistake of trying to run him on a sneak up he middle. He made the touchdown, but got injured. The coaches learned: one or two planned runs per game to keep the defense honest, but that’s all. No high risk runs for Herbert, he is too valuable as a passer and running the offense. Harbaugh had better know this from the start, because he can do stupid things occasionally. Plus he’s an A-hole and can lose a team if he ticks off too many people. But he can also win, so we’ll see.

      @@klardfarkus3891 I wonder what it will look like the next time a QB joins the NFL, has immediate and historic success as a rookie, breaks multiple all time QB records in each of his first few seasons in the NFL, is in top 3 in NFL in GW drives since joining league, top 2 in pressure to sack, number 1 in turnover worthy play rate, and so so much more... I understand everyone wants to see him in the playoffs, and more importantly winning in the playoffs, I have ZERO doubt those days are coming sooner than later, but regardless, this man EARNED EVERY SECOND of hype that was thrown at him. If anything, what he has achieved so far is severely underrated and severely overshadowed by the media's relentless attempt to make winning a QB stat.

      HAHAH no way you believe this. The dude literally gets consistent praise by some of the highest level film reviewers out there, including multiple ex NFL quarterbacks, specifically on how quickly he progresses through his reads. If anything, people are looking for him to slow down on his progressions to allow routes to develop slightly longer, but recognize his fast processing is the only thing that's been able to hide the incredible deficiencies the Charger's o-line has had since he came into the league.

      @@Ipodicusparanormal Never said he is perfect. You can cherry pick plays from any quarterback in existence to fit a narrative. My point is he is consistently recognized by NFL professionals (NFL players/NFL coaches/NFL analysts) as an elite processor, with elite anticipation, that evaluation is done by reviewing his entire body of work. And then here is @Calipod saying "I've seen him miss a throw before so he is terrible at reads and anticipation."

    Harbaugh and Hortiz could have built a great running attack with any other team more easily, tbh. Other than Herbert and Tuli, the Charger's needs are huge. We also did not draft a center or TE of the future. The loss of Keenan (WR1), Mike W (WR2), Austin Ekeler (RB1) and Gerald Everett (TE1) all in one offseason, with no established competent passcatcher whom Justin is familiar and comfortable with, is huge. And the 6th different offense in his last 8 years of playing QB. 😬🙁🤦‍♂️
