I love that this guy does these gear reviews. I always check to see if he’s done 1 before I buy something new that I’m not sure of.
Happy to hear you find these helpful. - Van
Surprised with the motorcycle protections. I´m 60 yo and I've been a motorcyclist for 44/45 years, initially with 2-stroke small motorbikes, my first was a Portuguese Casal Boss in Portugal of course, and at first no protections, first rigid, then rigid articulated and now flexible and increasingly lighter, more comfortable and effective, not to mention airbags... good for us. AMAZING... As we usually say in Portugal: A big hug, for you, your son and all STG team
The only constant is change. Thanks for watching and the kind words. - Van
Was recently about to buy some nucleon back armor a few weeks ago, but decided to wait. This stuff looks great, I will definitely be purchasing it from you guys
This stuff looks great, appreciate the business! - Van
Let’s goooo! Keep up the good work! I bought my putbull and R1 helmet from you guys recently
Thank you for watching and for your business. - Van
Thanks for the video guys really helpful info especially for the sizing needed to fit the jackets, keep up the good work 👍 👏
Happy to hear they have been helpful and thank you for watching! - Van
We love our AStars down under and another 5 star detailed review right here Mr Van 💪. Have you guys prepped a review yet on the new rideknit GP Plus Jacket up there? Looking forward to it, regards from Sunny Perth AU 🤠
We have shot that one and are waiting on Tom to edit. - Van
Hey Ryan
I love the vids. Helped a lot with fixing up my bike. I was looking at some new gear and was wondering what your opinion is on the brand Shima. It is a polish company who make motorcycle gear. I just thought it had a decent look but can't really find any reviews. Would love to hear from you guys about the quality.
Keep it up! Greets from Belgium!
Sorry, I have never heard of that brand. Happy to hear you have found the videos helpful and thank you for watching. - Van
Does the full protector fit in the Alpinestars Missile V2 jacket? I don’t see a pocket for the full
So looks like the extended length large will fit my Botega Pro Size L Jacket? (I'm 178cm if that matters)
Black fabric portion goes against your back, correct? It's weird that A* doesn't mark this on their protection like Sas-tec does.
Would you use the plasma or kr-celli? I find it hard to find differences
its not really a "graphic" but id love to see the scorpion exo r1 air carbon BLUE color in a kickass graphics video. nobody local to me stocks that color and your video/lighting quality is so much better than the few vids ive seen of the color.
pinky promise that if i end up buying one ill buy it from you if you do a vid 😂
I will bring one in and get that done. - Van
How would these compare to the recently released D3O Viper Air L2 back protector? They seem comparable in CE level and flexibility/breathability.
I have not seen that one yet, but can tell you this is an excellent insert certified to Level 2. - Van
Thank u for the video! I would love to know if the longer/extended version would work with the alpinestars gp plus r v3 rideknit. I've bought the jacket but I've yet to receive it so I don't know if the back protector would fit and I need to buy it asap 😅
I am pretty sure it will. When you get the jacket take a look at the pocket, it should have both. - Van
Did it fit?
A stars have been impressive lately. I currently run the nuclean insert with the plastic on the back, this new one is SICK. Almost like D30( what happened to that) anyway well there be a video of the new jacket that's on the table?
Yes, we have shot them and are waiting for Tom to edit them. - Van
Eyes peeled 🤞🏾
My jacket does support the longer version but how much better is it. Is it more uncomfortable or can you notice it from the outside of the jacket? And how much more protection are you getting?
You get more coverage for the lower spine with little to no change in comfort. The pocket for the full coverage insert does not stick out beyond the bottom of the jacket. - Van
Hey van I’m interested in this back protector can you tell me if any of these are comparable in size to a d3o viper ce 1 back protector size large? That is my current back protector and I’m looking for an upgrade to ce 2 along with the increased breath ability. I have a few jackets from different brands and the d30 fits all of them nicely.
The standard length are the same length as the D3O. Medium is the standard size used in men's Icon jackets. - Van
Hey Van, do you know if the full/extended length insert would fit in a mens XL Andes V3 Drystar jacket? Have it ordered, but not in front of me to check.
I am pretty sure that jacket is new enough to hold the extended insert but like you do not have one here in my office to check. It would be nice if Alpinestars could provide a list but they are unable to. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Yeah it's a bit bizarre, I did give their US 1800 a call to confirm though, apparently that jacket does not support it.
Thanks for the reply regardless, great videos.
Hi Van.. does the plasma have a lower profile/thickness compared to my Nucleon Kr-2i Back Protector Insert? Worth the upgrade?
Great content as always🤟Lee from Uk🇬🇧
IMO if you already have a protector no reason to upgrade. The profile is similar to what you already have. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear thank you. Much appreciated
Just got the nucleon omg 😂
This is for sure some pretty cool armor. - Van
Hey can you please tell me what the difference is between this & the astars nucleon flex pro full back protector insert
The material that is used is different with the Plasma being more flexible. - Van
Thanks for the info. I was comparing and thats what i was guessing just more flexible maby a little more breathable. Other than that they seemed about the same
@@nolasandrew
The nucleon flex pro full back is only certified to CB(central back), whereas the nucleon plasma is FB(full back)certified.
If you look at the flex pro you're only getting reliable, certifiable back protection in that red central strip, nowhere else.
The plasma full back has got you covered to level 2 all over the chassis, so it's a much safer option, you're getting almost 2x the coverage with the newer plasma.
Thanks for the info bro. I ended up purchasing the plasma
Should I get the Plasma shown in the video or the Nucleon KR-1 Cell?
Hey! Definitely get the Nucleon Plasma, both long and short version are CE Certified to FULL BACK (FB), but both The KR-1 Cell versions are only certified to CENTRAL BACK (CB).
What this means is the Nucleon Plasma has much, much more armour coverage, particularly on the ribs adjacent the spine and is thus the safer product, it's what I would reccomend you get, and it's also what I have personally purchased for my own A* jacket.
Tl;dr, the Nucleon Plasma is the much safer product, and it's the one I reccomend you get.
@@Killishness1337 Thank you! I recently bought the Plasma one and I‘m very happy with it.
@@Kairi_97 Awesome glad you got that one, A* defintiely looked at the old model and improved massively, the full back certification is a massive increase to safety for the user.
Safe riding!
Anyone know the actual dimensions of the large in both standard and full length sizes? Length, width and how thick?
The Extended length size L in the old version (flex proi) measures 10.25"W x 23" L x 2" D(variable and depends on compression)
I would assume the new one is very similar as that's about the max of the large pocket. And my jacket (atem v5 size 56) has the smaller pocket at about 18" L.
Brian, I'll order a large insert for my fat ass if you can ballpark when ASTAR leather pants are getting restocked. I can't find missile or track anywhere for size 56 and up.
Alpinestars Track V2 Leather Pants in a 56 are available now, here is a link:
