    I cannot begin to tell you how much I've been looking for a clear and concise video like this, Sir, to help me understand the Community Fibre installation in the London area, as well as the devices that Community Fibre will be requiring !! I had a rough idea, I'm not naive, and I've been watching a lot of Community Fibre videos to get a precise idea of installation in the London area. And, you've happily confirmed my suspicions for what devices CF will be requiring to fit in the home, as well as the chain of cabling - ONT box - 'Optical Network Termination' box on the wall ( in your case, using an old Virgin previous drilled point ), fibre optic cable to modem, RJ45 cable to router !!
    I took a chance on an educated guess after watching many other videos of CF installations, on setting up a home network of RJ45 cabling and power points, in preparation for when CF comes in to install the service. And now, I've finally been able to put my mind at rest that I haven't spent good money on a wasted pre-install network - fingers crossed !! ( 😖!! )... ( Too much information, Sir ?...) Anyway, thanks for the video, and if you don't mind me saying... Maybe consider re-wording your video title to mention that it will show what we can expect the installation to look like in the Home for a London install, as well as 'Community Fibre Gigabit Broadband Review 2024 (w/Speed Test) '...maybe ?...
    I'm sure there are many other people who would appreciate your video to show them what to expect from Community Fibre regarding the installation, and what devices they will be getting - and where - as part of the install'.
    Many thanks, Sir, and be lucky ! 😌...🙂 x.

      Hey Paul. So I live in east London. Where I live I could only get standard open reach connections and virgin. Hyper Optic and community fibre wasn’t available. I did sign up for my interest for community fibre months ago to the point I forgot all about it.
      I got a call from someone from community fibre that said it’s now available in my area from 2 weeks ago and he’s been calling everyone on my road that signed up for interest. He originally offered me 6 months for free, 1GB speed and £5 a month for landline (landline and mobile calls - I don’t care for landline but my mum wanted to keep it). I told him give me a few days as I need to see if I could get out or my current contract with EE.
      Sidenote - I’m an ex EE employee, when I use to work there I had 50% off 300mbs which was around £25p/m which was amazing. Then It went back to full price plus annual interest rate increase meant I was paying £54 for 300mbs. I’ve moved out of my mums place so paying that much was crazy to me. As an ex EE employee I know there’s a loop whole where if you do a change of ownership, the new person (my mum) would be paying what I was previously but would be out of contract regardless of where I was.
      Anyways the original guy called me back a few days letter saying his boss has given him the all clear to give me a better offer changing the 6 months free to 9 months free. I was happy to go with it but I had to wait 2 weeks for the change of ownership to go through. On the second week of the change of ownership his boss called me saying he’s the regional manager and ask if I wanted the offer. I said I did but have to give me a few days as I’m currently going through a change of ownership to my mum to put me out of contract. He said I sound quite knowledgeable and actually offered me a job lol. Anyways a few days later he called me back saying I can offer you 12 months free instead of 9 if I take it in a few days in which I didn’t as I wanted to do some research on providers and deals. I gave him a call back yesterday to ask if the deal was still available in which he said no but “he’ll do it for me for this once”.
      My installation is next Monday (21st August). I’m extremely excited for it as I’ve honestly heard nothing but good news on community fibre. I’ve currently got EE (current provider) live so incase community fibre is shit, I can cancel it within the 14 days to get a refund on everything or within 60 days if I’m not happy with it.
      I got a few friends that have community fibre and they love it. They live in houses and get WiFi in every room without any boosters. The WiFi at my mum’s property is only a small 2 bedroom flat all on the same floor so I’m hoping for good results. Even if I get 100mbs wireless in each room I’ll be happy as EE (my currently provider) offered me 100mbs for £35 without landline
      More than happy to keep in contact with you if you had like Instagram - if you wanted to talk about it a bit more.
      Few things to note: within the first year I’m only paying the £5 a month for the landline service (normally £10p/m). Set up fee of £15 at the start too.

    • @chasemason5129
      @chasemason5129  Рік тому +2

      Hi there, so I've just had a look into this. There is actually one 2.4Ghz band and two separate 5Ghz bands. Yes, this is the default mode of the router and it will work with your devices to determine the best band that each individual device connected to the router should be on. Alternatively, you can split the three bands so that you can manually have separate networks for each band. This would require you to manually connect each device to its desired band. This is a very capable router but again, unlike with BT and others, you have the freedom and flexibility of installing your own router or mesh system if you desire. Hope that helps!

Sky did tell me that if they can provide the same service as our new flat then the contract can be terminated without incurring extra charges. My home office is on the floor directly above the living room where the router is. Download speeds around 530Mbps and upload around 200Mbps. Debating whether or not to install a mesh system for myself, I didn't see the point of paying an extra £10p/m on Community Fibre for their mesh system when I could buy my own outright. Not a priority for me right now. However, I am getting no signal at the top floor loft extension of the house, which is expected. Nobody occupies there at present but if that changes, I'll probably get another node to provide that area with signal. Overall, I'm really impressed with the quality of this router and I much prefer it to some of the proprietary routers from other ISPs.

    • @chasemason5129
      @chasemason5129  Рік тому

      Only problem is the ping on 5G and other cellular connections is very very bad. Ping on FTTP is at most 4ms. And so if latency is important to you say for gaming etc, then FTTP is always going to be the best choice. FTTP also increases the value of the house, if you’re considering selling later down the line. Funnily enough I live right behind a 5G cell tower and considered doing that but again, latency will be a huge problem.

    How are the DL/UL speeds when you do a wired connection test on your PS5?

      I’ll check that and get back to you. Other people with gigabit broadband have complained about slow speeds on the PS5. Search slow upload speeds PS5 on UA-cam. Nonetheless, I’ll do a test and get back to you

    Able to show yourself downloading something during the evening (like a game on steam or file from Google drive, a large one ) and using googles speed test.

      I won’t have the time to make another video as I have exams at the moment but I can assure you I have seen little to no difference in my speeds at peak times.

      I just got community fibre, although the ps5 is in my room I took the ps5 downstairs and connected it to the router wired and got 933mbps download but still a low upload of around 20 but 933 download was insane. Tested by downloading battlefield which is a 80gb game and it said it would finish in 20 minutes😅

    their installer engineers are absolutely disgusting lazy and incompetent.
    in order to save time they tricked an old lady into having them drill the hole in the kitchen wall and installed it in their kitchen instead of taking the time to do it through door or front wall. and then didn't bother to test it.
    all just so he could go home 1hr early.
    who installs a modem in a kitchen? the only worst place he could have chosen is the shower room. kitchens have steam, water, vapor, fire doors, microwaves, food molecules etc all that will affect the signal or destroy the modem.
    absolute laziness and incompetence. and it wasn't the first time either.
    choose another company if you have the choice. frankly that worker should be sacked. but they won't.
