47,500 fans pack Ninian Park to see Brian Clark score the only goal of the game to beat the mighty Real Madrid in this European Cup Winners Cup Quarter Final tie.
Unlike the anaemic Cardiff City Stadium, the old Ninian Park had character and an intimidating atmosphere especially with the Grange End in full voice! That's where the boot boys or bovver boys hung out!
Ah those were days...violent shithole.Miss the old ultra violence, getting mugged for the scarf me gran lovingly knitted and all that long lost menace. These days I can actually take my kids safely.....Shame
More often than not the runners up playedbin the cup winners' cup as these micky mouse leagues had one or two diminant teams who would often do the double dynamo tbilisi lost the 1980 soviet cup final but still eon the ecwc the next season
This was a competition for the teams who had won the Cup in their respective countries. Nowadays the Cup winners of each country are in the Europa League - as well as teams who qualify through their league position
I'm come from Cardiff and they are my favourite team it is just shocking that they beat one of the best teams in the world
Remember it was when THEY were the best team in the world

shocking booking on Peter King. I had a great view of Clarkys goal in Canton Stand. Treasured memories of Ninians Park.
Cardiff should have won this by at least 2.0, Clark caused them so many problems with his aerial dominace, R.I.P. Brian Clark.
ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ WE BEAT REAL MADRID WE WON THE FA CUP
En la vuelta el REAL MADRID remontó por 2-0. Buen video y ¡¡¡HALA MADRID!!!
50 years ago today. Wish I was around at the time to see it.
Blue for life
I was there
Better still - in the style of Max Boyce - I. was there.
Glad to say I was there , at the age of 14 .
Es la única vez en la historia, creo, que el Real Madrid vistió de Rojo.

Cardiff had some amazing games in this competition - could even have made it to the final in 1968 had it not been for a goalkeeping error.
I was there
