Since we rescued Pierce on that 114-degree day, we have been looking for his owner. We hung flyers and posted him on social media, and animal control knew we had Pierce in case anyone called in. After ten days, no one claimed him so we needed to find him a really good forever home.

That dog hit the lottery of doggie homes! I’m so happy to see this, it makes me want to cry happy tears for him! His ears sticking up over the counter watching Linda prepare his meal, is just the cutest thing! What a good boy!

Looking at Pierce's new accommodations, I thought about writing the new-found home, and asking if they were interested in adopting an aging rural-oriented human male. ;)
I hope his owners are highly motivated and consistently active, especially once the initial novelty wears off. A walk around the block and 20 minutes of frisbee in the park are not enough for these dogs. They'll eat a 10 mile run for breakfast in the morning and then sit there looking at you wondering when the day is going to begin.

@@stargalaxyuniverse761Yes. Most animals are better than the human species. But you gotta admit, rescue folks have huge hearts! I volunteered with a PitBull rescue, while it’s heart wrenching it can also be heartwarming.

My advice, as a previous Belgian Shepherd owner; shower him with tons of love, give him clear rules, let him be part of the family and you will have a companion for years and years and years. BelgianS tend to live an average of 3-4 yrs longer than GermanS. And YES, they are calm and easy, when they get enough of activity and their wonderful brains are kept busy.

LeNa, just watching their body language while exercising Pierce, I am strongly convinced these owners understand how to give him what he needs, in terms of both activities/challenges and limit-setting. And it's clear he feels "understood" and wants to please them!

Go ahead, everyone, call me what you want to. I'm a grown that's a little ornery, doesn't take any 💩, and doesn't like most people. However, each time I watch this video, I wipe my eyes a lot. And it's not seasonal allergies, either. The trust in Pierce's eyes reduces me pretty quickly. God bless Pierce, his rescuers, caregivers, and his new mom and dad!

@@8BBB88.Yes I believe it’s the same dog. It brought a tear to my eye seeing how good of the rest of his life he’s going to have. Even though he seems to be living a more luxurious life than me, I’m so happy for him. 😁

Seeing that dog say goodbye to that fine gentleman that rescued him, how beautiful but sad, but beautiful at the same time, just so beautiful to see a human being being so happy for the dog and bittersweet cause that dog stole a piece of his heart, but that man has a huge heart for animals
Kirk has an immense heart for dogs and an endless passion for rescue.
Pierce knows he had an amazing rescuer. The jump he did to give Kirk a kiss was so sweet.
This is one breed that is smarter than %80 of the American population.

Smartest dog we have ever rescued with extremely communicative eyes. It was hard to say goodbye to him but we knew he was going to a great home.

Two seconds ago I watched the video of him being rescued! This was so heartwarming with his saying goodbye to his rescuer! He’s such a beautiful well-behaved, intelligent dog! And it looks like he got into the perfect forever family! Thank you to all of those that were party to rescuing this dog, loving him and bringing them to his new home and to the people that adopted him! I love happy endings!

I remember seeing the news of his rescue. His paws were burned from lying on the road and could not move away from the sun, the heat, the burning until someone rescued him!!!!!

Kirk, I'm glad you got Mr. Pierce a new home. As you know I was really interested. It worked out okay, I ended up rescuing a Malinois who spent the first 14months of her life in a crate. It's all good 🐾☺️🐾

If I was Pierce's rescuer I would have driven him to Indiana myself just to have a few more precious days together. As it was we could all tell how difficult it was for Kirk to let the beautiful dog he had rescued go. But now it's on to the next rescue for this good and kind man.

That definitely helps. Sadly, to offer top notch diet, activity and healthcare in this country (for animals AND humans), you really do need to have quite a bit of disposable income. Meat, organic food, and supplements are expensive, so is a nice big yard and a lake house.
He is a good boy ,and a work dog !! This man ,and woman now how to deal with him !! This is a win win situation for this good boy !! ❤️❤️❤️

David & Linda have the best home, lifestyle, and food for him, lucky boy!! I so approve of home made food, the best nutrition for animals, both cats and dogs.
Blueberries - great!
Beef, chicken, pork, sardines - great!
Add regular seaweed cooked or soaked - great source of iodine, gelatin.
Add beef gelatin in a veggie stew you can pour over the dry foods. I use cabbage, carrots, kabocha squash, sweet potatoes, chicken bone broth, zucchini, swiss chard, seaweed, etc. No onions, garlic, or avocadoes - all toxic. Toward the end of cooking veggies, I add organ meats like kidney, heart, liver, stomach, gizzards. These have valuable nutrients.
I pressure cook a whole chicken for 2.5 hrs then leave on warm all night. This softens bones. Use broth for cooking veggies, then add back the chicken and bones, and possibly roasted pork shoulder butt (cook at 275F all night in oven). Now you can pour that over kibbles or ground meat, add a handful of fresh mixed salad greens in it and a dollop of Non Fat Greek Yoghurt. Breakfast - cooked egg, meat, greens over kibbles and dollop of Greek yoghurt.
Fish oil with meals - not salmon oil - it does not digest. Cod Liver oil is best or any other kind.
Careful with Beets - very high in oxalic acid. If a dog or human is prone to kidney or bladder stones from oxalic acid, it is due to a Vit K2 deficiency, which directs the calcium to stones not bones. Add K2 and calcium goes to bones not stones.
For your older dog, poor guy has painful joints. This will help a lot:
Amazon Bulk Powder:
Vitamin C - 1/3 tsp 2 x day or more. Reduces inflammation in joints, arthritis. Detoxes.
Glucosamine - 1/2 tsp 2 x day. Reduces inflammation in joints, arthritis.
MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane) 1/2 tsp 2 x day. This is the mineral sulfur. Reduces inflammation in joints. Shiny hair/fur, good skin collagen, strong nails, fights fungus, and much more.
Humans - take the same at 1/3 tsp 1 x day as a drink with Apple Cider Vinegar and water.
Also add Potassium, Magnesium Glycinate same dose to get your electrolytes up. Ask Vet if you can give these minerals to your dog.
Great Parents for Pierce. Take Good Care of the Boy. And of course your other Beautiful Dogs.❤️❤️
