Honestly I wish Sofia could’ve appeared more in Elena of Avalor when she was older, because it would have been so interesting to see how years of having so much pressure on her to be a protector and constantly have to deal with villains would effect her mental health in the future, and I would’ve loved to see how she’d interact with Elena’s group. She could’ve gotten a whole ass character ark of learning that she shouldn’t have to always risk her life for others.
I think she had a cameo in the EoA finale but I do agree with you. Hopefully, they explore more of what you're talking about in the sequel series Royal Magic! (Side note: I know the art/animation style on EoA was different from StF, but I'm really hoping she doesn't look like she did in her EoA cameo in the new sequel series. Was such a bad design.)

I totally agree, Sophia is so amazing and deserves so much love and support. Not people who will change their opinions on a dime, that’s why I love her friendship with Vivian. Sure she’s shy and can mess up sometimes but she still thinks of Sophia’s emotions and how her actions will affect her.
The hard thing with Sofia the first is that the Disney princess timeline never over lapped and Disney consider them to exist in there own separate realities, until this show. Making knowing when princesses exist and if they are actually still around very hard to pinpoint
At the start of the show I head-cannoned that the princesses all exist in their own separated dimensions, and they all at some point came into contact with their dimension's version of the medallion, and the power of the medallion include inter- dimensional travel and that's how it can summon princesses from different time-periods and settings, but then the episode in which Sophia is summoned into helping someone we establish that the princesses who wore the medallion physically exist in the same world so I don't know anymore

I think maybe part of how the amulet works is that's there's is no guarantee you will get powers because the lesson is that you shouldn't only do nice things in order to receive a reward.

I actually like that they aren’t constantly mentioning being a step family. I’m adopted and personally I’m not constantly thinking about the fact I’m adopted and I just live life like most other kids. But like in Sofia the First, there are times where it is more difficult and problems do arise but my family and I work through them ❤❤ It feels all the more relatable to me.

I grew up watching this show, as someone who had a step family and divorced parents I never realised the huge favour that it did me to watch this show and see myself as a bit more normal. Sofia was a great role model and I recall many of the episodes showing many great lessons to kids. If I wanted to have kids of my own, I'd make them watch this. Also I love Cedric for real he is such a mood

The magic wishing well gave me nightmares as a kid, and honestly still freaks me out. A really good way to deter kids from trusting strangers and not to rely on the easy way out. Also i'm pretty sure there is a theory suggesting that Roland's wish was to have kids and that was the reason his wife got sick and died???
1:02 Only problem I have with this is that while Sofia & Amber+James DO showcase the dynamics of growing up within a blended stepfamily neither of their respective parents divorced their spouse but instead are widowed parents (as revealed in the series finale) so they missed out on the aspect of divorced families.
Maybe they didn’t entirely think about it because this is meant to be set in sort of late Victorian era, so royalty still had that moral taboo on divorce at the time. I know they did their own thing in some places, but maybe they did it to t to show some period accuracy? Or they could’ve just never thought about it, but my theory is that they were just following patterns of royalty for the time for the basic structure. It might not be that deep, and it might just be that they wanted to use the typical blended family structure you see in stories about royalty,

Even though kids are actually quite smart and can understand different situations. So they made Miranda and Roland Widows instead. Honestly how hard is it to say "Two people or two parents fell out of love with each other. ( Just typing this out has kinda opened my eyes that there is still a sort of 'foggy' taboo around divorce.)

OMG my childhood! Okay but can we please talk about the "Cedric, I didn't think you were capable of doing something like this" / "You didn't thinkI was capabke of doing anything..." Cedric being looked down upon and that's why he believes he needs all these magic mcguffins to do anything.... The guys in this show aren't as touched upon which makes me sad because James gets good moments as well! Like when he broke the stain glass window or when he was sneaking out to feed the dog. He's genuinely a good guy who gets caught up in a little too much mischief. And the james turning into a baby episode!! This show loves expanding character relationships and family dynamics which I LOVE to see explored but that's more of a me thing lmao. I'm so glad you covered this sofia really touches on a lot of good ideas/topics and the amulet rules you came up with were very interesting!
or maybe because at that time, frozen 1 was still on the works, and disney could simply not take any risk of leaking, show or sneak peek any content related to their upcoming (and most succesful princess IP so far) frozen movie.
@justahugenerd1278 From a company standpoint Frozen as a brand was stronger not being steamrolled into the Disney Princess brand and they didn't want to accidentally mess up the golden goose. I'm going to look up one of my favs who did a breakdown on this.

I love the subtle outlines around every character and the hair being more whispy makes these characters feel like they were ripped out of a storybook(if you squint and tilt your head a little)
Notice for anyone who checks out the show for the first time. Yeah on Disney Plus, but the pilot Once Upon a Princess has often been neglected save for a DVD release, but is now on the Disney Junior YT channel.
I will never forget the day the series premiered, the final chapter is the most exciting and satisfying, seeing Sofia become a Protector, after all her journey (although I know that great destinies also await her siblings), she may not be queen, but she will be a protector and defender, I am happy about this destiny for her

I think this show did a very good job at making Sophia a likeable happy-go-lucky character without making her obnoxious or annoying, like many other kids shows do by making their characters basically perfect.
My youngest sister is 11 years younger than me, and I used to watch this with her when I would come home from university, and she was like 7. I was always surprised how good and watchable it was even as an adult watching a kids show.

Sofia the First was introduced to me by my baby sister. There was a lot of questionable content kids watch on UA-cam etc but Sofia the First was one of the very few shows that I give the full green light to my sister and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it as well. I'm 22 now and despite my sister doesn't watch this show, I'm still in love with this show an would occasionally comeback to it and watch a couple of episodes

I love that like it uses the settings to show. Not only a to build a sibling relationship. For for family, my family is like that and by that I mean like families that just now got together. But now with it, do they do that and a stick away but It also shows why it's important to share perspectives and you know uncover the. The little bumps that you might not realize you have and kind of smooth that out. You know becoming more Accepting why taking others experiences and perspectives are so important.Because it makes you more rounded and understanding
I personally liked the season 4 ending for two reasons, 1 they gave Cedric more time to go cool which is always good, and 2 as much as it showed sofia getting help from others it was nice to see the change from “ask others” to “you gotta figure it out” cause if I’m getting the rating right (which I could not be) the show was made for kids going into school for the first time or changing into middle school. Which is a good time for kids to learn they can be by themselves for a moment which I think was a good way for kids to find a little courage when in that new environment. As for Elana of Avalore I AM IN FAVORE OF COVERING IT! This show is one of my favorites (mainly because it wasn’t the white princess that is so common) I would love to know how you end up feeling about Esteban cause it’s a pretty big divider between fans

I loved Sofia the first growing up! My sister and I sang the songs together and being adopted, the sibling dynamics were relatable to us. Wonderfully written and the show will always be special to me because it reminds me of her 🤍
With the weird canon of Ariel, maybe she’s able to turn back into a mermaid somehow? Since Sofia’s able to become one, it doesn’t seem like it would be impossible, and it would allow Ariel to be able to visit her father and such in a much safer manner. If she ended up married to Prince Eric, maybe she was known as a human princess and not as a mermaid one?
Personally, I would have thought that its the GHOST of mermaid ariel, like the other princesses. Going along with that, maybe Ariel is actually human and not mermaid and that's just the past. Idk.

I haven't watched Sofia the First since I was about 6, and recently, I've been watching Modern Family, which features Ariel Winter, the voice of Sofia, and Eric Stonestreet, who voices Sofia's horse, Maximus. I knew Ariel played Sofia, but I didn't realize she also played Alex on Modern Family. I also didn't know that Eric was on Sofia the First until I started watching Modern Family. Knowing that both actors from Modern Family were also on Sofia the First has made me want to revisit the show. I think I can appreciate the show and it's story a lot more than I did when I was little. It seems like it's definitely up there as one of the best Disney Junior shows from what I've heard.

I love Sofia the first I used to watched the show all the time as an adult now I sometimes watch it. Sofia the first is a very good series for kids and adults. The series also has great songs and it's good for those who want to watch it because it's awesome. I liked that the Disney princesses were involved in some episodes.

Yes, and Sofia could have even gone to Avalor to relax and connect with Isabelle since more likely than not, Elena would be on an adventure 😅

The hard thing with Sofia the first is that the Disney princess timeline never over lapped and Disney consider them to exist in there own separate realities, until this show. Making knowing when princesses exist and if they are actually still around very hard to pinpoint

At the start of the show I head-cannoned that the princesses all exist in their own separated dimensions, and they all at some point came into contact with their dimension's version of the medallion, and the power of the medallion include inter- dimensional travel and that's how it can summon princesses from different time-periods and settings, but then the episode in which Sophia is summoned into helping someone we establish that the princesses who wore the medallion physically exist in the same world so I don't know anymore

I grew up watching this show, as someone who had a step family and divorced parents I never realised the huge favour that it did me to watch this show and see myself as a bit more normal. Sofia was a great role model and I recall many of the episodes showing many great lessons to kids. If I wanted to have kids of my own, I'd make them watch this.

1:02 Only problem I have with this is that while Sofia & Amber+James DO showcase the dynamics of growing up within a blended stepfamily neither of their respective parents divorced their spouse but instead are widowed parents (as revealed in the series finale) so they missed out on the aspect of divorced families.
Maybe they didn’t entirely think about it because this is meant to be set in sort of late Victorian era, so royalty still had that moral taboo on divorce at the time.
I know they did their own thing in some places, but maybe they did it to t to show some period accuracy?
Or they could’ve just never thought about it, but my theory is that they were just following patterns of royalty for the time for the basic structure.
It might not be that deep, and it might just be that they wanted to use the typical blended family structure you see in stories about royalty,

I think this show did a very good job at making Sophia a likeable happy-go-lucky character without making her obnoxious or annoying, like many other kids shows do by making their characters basically perfect.
My youngest sister is 11 years younger than me, and I used to watch this with her when I would come home from university, and she was like 7. I was always surprised how good and watchable it was even as an adult watching a kids show.

There was a lot of questionable content kids watch on UA-cam etc but Sofia the First was one of the very few shows that I give the full green light to my sister and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it as well. I'm 22 now and despite my sister doesn't watch this show, I'm still in love with this show an would occasionally comeback to it and watch a couple of episodes

For for family, my family is like that and by that I mean like families that just now got together. But now with it, do they do that and a stick away but It also shows why it's important to share perspectives and you know uncover the. The little bumps that you might not realize you have and kind of smooth that out. You know becoming more Accepting why taking others experiences and perspectives are so important.Because it makes you more rounded and understanding
I personally liked the season 4 ending for two reasons, 1 they gave Cedric more time to go cool which is always good, and 2 as much as it showed sofia getting help from others it was nice to see the change from “ask others” to “you gotta figure it out” cause if I’m getting the rating right (which I could not be) the show was made for kids going into school for the first time or changing into middle school. Which is a good time for kids to learn they can be by themselves for a moment which I think was a good way for kids to find a little courage when in that new environment.
As for Elana of Avalore I AM IN FAVORE OF COVERING IT! This show is one of my favorites (mainly because it wasn’t the white princess that is so common) I would love to know how you end up feeling about Esteban cause it’s a pretty big divider between fans

I haven't watched Sofia the First since I was about 6, and recently, I've been watching Modern Family, which features Ariel Winter, the voice of Sofia, and Eric Stonestreet, who voices Sofia's horse, Maximus. I knew Ariel played Sofia, but I didn't realize she also played Alex on Modern Family. I also didn't know that Eric was on Sofia the First until I started watching Modern Family. Knowing that both actors from Modern Family were also on Sofia the First has made me want to revisit the show. I think I can appreciate the show and it's story a lot more than I did when I was little. It seems like it's definitely up there as one of the best Disney Junior shows from what I've heard.

I love Sofia the first I used to watched the show all the time as an adult now I sometimes watch it. Sofia the first is a very good series for kids and adults. The series also has great songs and it's good for those who want to watch it because it's awesome. I liked that the Disney princesses were involved in some episodes.
