- Today I'm in Kitchener, ON at a place called Mel's Diner, about to take on their infamous 'Godfather Challenge'. One huge burger containing 6 half pound patties, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, onions, a pound of fries and coleslaw to boot. Finish the whole thing inside 60 minutes and it's yours on the house, along with a free winner's t-shirt and a spot on the wall of fame. Fail and it's $49.99!

Q: How come you don’t get fat?
A: I eat like this for 1 hour of a 168 hour long week. In simple terms, I eat at caloric maintenance over the course of time, meaning I don’t gain weight. If you're interested in learning more, see the ‘But How Come You're Not Fat' and 'It Was Just A Normal Day...' videos available on my channel.
Q: Don’t you worry about your health?
A: Not in particular. I’m active. I eat nutrient dense foods five days a week. And, I get quarterly bloods done, amongst other health checks.

10/10 for the challenge - finally, a normal meal that's just massive, they even made a giant burger bun!
I appreciated the fact that they didn't quadruple the number of fries once they found out he's a professional eater.

As a Canadian I laughed at "If you're in the Ontario-area...". The province of Ontario alone is more than 4x the size of the *entire* UK!

I'm glad they were separate smaller burgers. I had a horrible feeling when I first saw it that you were getting one massive, inconsistently cooked slab of burger... but that looked really, really nice!
Yes, I was so glad to see that as well, as I hate when they have those raw huge burgers and then they are burnt on the outside. Yuck.

I've been watching your videos for two years. It's really cool to see you visited my hometown and took on the 'Godfather Challenge' at one of my favorite restaurants. I'm glad you had a good experience.
Beard I've been a follower of your channel from the start, and you never cease to amaze me, I tried a big burger challenge last week and it was 5ibs came with fries and Cole slaw, and an hour time limit, I did it my brother, my very first challenge and I did it 47 minutes.

That's another thing I Love about Adam, Win or Lose all the Videos get posted. Adams not that proud to say he doesn't win them all. Out of all the competitive eaters, Adam (The Beard) is my favorite. Beard you amaze me on most every challenge and l’ve probably watched at least 25 to 35 of them. Your so polite to people/ onlookers and to me that’s very admirable and a reflection of your character. The fact that you eat every scrape of the challenge tells me you take every challenge very seriously and when you finish there can be no question you did not cut any corners and no question you absolutely completed the challenge in its entirety. From here in the U.S. l enjoy watching……..one of my favorite U tube channels.

As a resident of Kitchener ON. I had no idea they had that challenge there. It’s right down the street for me. I’ve never know how someone can train themselves to eat that much in so short a time. I guess there’s strategy in everything. You have at least 3 fans in Kitchener.

tbh i think it's the weather, tends to make people cranky, i can see that getting to people over time, no matter how "used to it" they may be.
I believe its a hang up from the UK class system. Service jobs are regarded as a personal failure and only for those who can't do anything else, so you feel personally bad for doing it, really don't want to be there and you are looked down on by those you serve.
@@Dr.D00p thing is, i'm not just talking about staff and stuff. I mean in general. When I went to America, strangers were chatting in stores and waiting for the bus and stuff!! UK is super suspicious if someone says 'hi' (saw a video showing exactly that on youtube earlier, in fact. Guy films himself saying 'hi' to strangers in London and the results are funny.)

@@Zacksleeps It's a lot friendlier if you are in the North of England (and presumably Scotland/Wales too). The South is generally far less friendly, and London even less than that.
But at the same time, most people in the UK don't want that "friendliness", especially not from staff.

You're such a spirit animal. When you're down and don't feel like getting out of bed, there's just nothing more calming and rejuvenating than to watch somebody humorously battle gigantic amounts of food. This has gotten me through a pretty painful heartbreak this summer. Thanks for doing this and hope you can keep it up for some time ❤

I said exactly the same thing about the Canadians being so friendly when my girlfriend and I were in Toronto, and the lovely chap walking passed us quite proudly stated 'yeah that's because we're not british'.

Dude, you're the only UA-camr who adds humour to your videos (and modesty which is so refreshing in this day and age). The rest are fun to watch but just so serious and often with egos the size of Texas. 3.89 million subscribers and you seem to be a really down-to-earth bloke. I know how hard you work at this as it's not just the eating part but all the travelling, editing, expense, camera work and whatever else you need to do behind the scenes. Making videos for UA-cam takes a lot of time and dedication and you're doing a great job. The really positive comments are a reflection of how different you are to the likes of Nikocado. Yeah, Mel’s is awesome. I’m from up the highway in Waterloo and the only reason Mel’s isn’t a regular stop is b/c the lineups are typically quite long.
I drive past mel’s everyday going to work! I live in Cambridge which is literally attached to Kitchener, it’s so dope seeing local businesses getting such recognition!
I can say being a Canadian myself we are some of the nicest people you will meet.

OMG you did make me laugh. "If you are in the Ontario area, give this place a visit" The Province of Ontario is more than 8 times BIGGER than England. It's a bit like saying, "If you like football and you are in Europe visit Manchester to watch United or City play" I live in Ottawa Ontario, Kitchener is a 6 hour drive from here, a mere hop down the road. Thanks for the laugh though and please keep the videos coming.

He did allude to the fact that Canada is big and laughed when he said it so that should have been the clue he knew he wasn't being precise.
Europe is around 4M square miles while Ontario is around 350K, so more than ten times bigger while England is a tiny 50K Square miles making up less than 2% of Europe's size so your analogy makes the same mistake you think he made anyway.
I did say 'it's quite a big place' followed by a goofy laugh...not sure if you got that bit lol
If drive more than about 250 miles in any direction from the middle of England you will fall off the edge!

I’m 2 mins in, recently found Beard, already a good one because the servers were so friendly.
My wife and I travel. We’ve only had great interactions everywhere because we bring kindness. And Beard brings that out.
If comments say the staff wasn’t nice, I pass on those.
Also Beard, it seems this is lucrative, you get to travel, and it’s fun. But as an Elder…the modern food system will take its toll.
Seed oils, modern wheat. The toll is cumulative. No amount of exercise, or even fasting (super healthy, and amazing) can undo that.
Keep doing what you love. You look healthy. But don’t let it take too big of a toll.
Ordering dessert at the end is the coolest flex, well done man!
