  • This is with all 12 Delta fans running. Enjoy!
    This is a water cooling setup for a custom computer! There are three Black Ice SR1 480 radiators under those 12 fans.
    Since the Deltas are very effective at moving tons of air (theoretically a maximum of 3000 cubic feet/minute with 12 fans!), we wanted to use them, but they are so noisy. Thus the Baffle Box was designed to absorb the noise and route the air flow through baffles.

    those Delta fans are mostly used for servers, where you don't even have to think about noise, and you surely NEVER want your server(s) to overheat and always stay as cool as possible, so yes, those fans are neccessary, and this is WHY servers are kept in a thick-walled sound-dampened room most of the time.

      No, the point of watercooling is to cool better than regular cooling.

    • @Eggsr2bcrushed
      @Eggsr2bcrushed 9 років тому +2

      Lamaredia IK that, but it's usually meant to be quiet too.

    • @fegga638
      @fegga638 9 років тому +14

      Water cooling isn't necessarily quiet. If quietness is your primary goal, then you might as well go with a NH-D15.

    • @Eggsr2bcrushed
      @Eggsr2bcrushed 9 років тому +5

      sippa A lot of times you can afford to run a slower and quieter fan on a water cooling rad since water cooling is so much more efficient at transferring heat, therefore is better at cooling, and often quieter too.

    • @Lamaredia
      @Lamaredia 9 років тому +1

      Eggsr2bcrushed That depends on the amount of overclocking that you will be doing. The 12 delta fans are probably a BIT too much, but when you overclock the amount of heat will increase quite a lot.

    • @Zishy
      @Zishy 8 років тому +1

      +Matthew Duma and this thing doesnt go into a server rack either. if it was to go into a proper server rack, you would not give a flying fuck about noise, and you would certainly not limit the cfm by creating this pisspoor "airduct".
      on top of that its fairly overkill. i ran a desktop for a long time with around 850-900W heat that had to be dissipated and i used 2x240 and 1x1080 and it would run silent with just 4 fans running 60%. you dont need to go overboard with deltafans like this because it will not give you any benefit whatsoever. you just end up using more power for 0 gain

    ol, I have a 120mm and 140mm fan in my system from delta, I pushed about 15,550 RPM off the 140mm and 18,950 off the 120mm... don't think I'll be putting my fingers in the fan blades at any time!!

    • @bait28
      @bait28 10 років тому +1

      I can tell you for a fact you haven't done such a thing. Delta's 120mm fans NEVER have been manufactured above 7K RPM.

    • @TheSoxmania
      @TheSoxmania 10 років тому +1

      depends on the voltage and the purity of the DC input... the fans work best on 18V with a filtered and choked regulated DC supply, the ripple must be less than 25mv for a good drive though, or the RPM is decreased... laos, the bearings have to be well greased... if not, the most you'll get is 10K and a popped controller!! and they can only be driven for so long at that voltage since the controller gets pretty hot after a few seconds... again... fingers and Delta fans don't mix!!!

      Note true. Have tested this long term. The fan at 18 v hit now where close to 18k with a lab power supply. Tested with multiple fans. Along with that they all burned through the controllers in 2 or so minutes. Also this doesn't exactly count as you are you of operating spec. The fans under lab conditions only safely operated up to 13.4 before losing its perfect switching between magnetic fields.

    this entire time, I was hoping he would drop his camera into the fans, .. maybe I am a total jackass and want to watch the world burn.. but it'd a been funny as all hell

    I really don't know - I kinda grew up around servers, and there's nothing more I love than hearing delta fans.
    If I get enough money soon, I'm going to build a killer computer with millions of delta fans

    nice choice: close 12 noisy fans in a box. This way you limit the noise but u destroy whole the heating system. Why not to use a single 40 or 50 cm fan? like a ventilator but...more powerfull! (50W should be enaugh)

    That first piece you wedge in must absolutely decimate air flow though. Fans at the opposite end of the small and only opening are being starved of air and will spinning at a higher RPM due to lack of air resistance (creating even more noise potentially).
    Very impressive amount of power, but going by the visuals, most of the fans are NOT, absolutely NOT, achieving even close to their potential.
    Just make sure that air flow is even to all fans. Visualize your device in quadrants.

    45 x 12 = 540 W those things draw more power than most gaming PCs. What a waste of power.

      The Podcast Gaming Yes they do. I have 8-core cpu, h100 cooler, 9 case fans, GTX680 Phantom on Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z motherboard + 10USB devices, 3x HDDs, 2x SSDs and i have only 600w PSU, but my all that together takes about 400w when under load. only PCs that take more, are ones using SLI and those are not gaming PCs, they're Ultra gaming PCs already, because mine can run anything on ultra settings, crysis 3 lags down to 25fps tho on ultra, but turning antialiasing down and 60fps boom!

      @SassyOnline 10 років тому +2

      Your computer isn't exactly a high end gaming build considering most builds use 600W of power on a 1000W PSU

    • @harish2309
      @harish2309 10 років тому +1

      The Podcast Gaming Most builds use a 1000W psu and draw 600W power. No and no. Too much time on overclocking forums might give you that idea, but things are efficient these days and a kick ass gaming PC needs no more than 500W at full load.
