The interaction with, and the generosity of, your viewers are a reflection of the good vibes that you give off in your videos. This video has it all, showing how the life of existing parts can be extended with a little considered intervention, the inclusion of 'bloopers so we don't feel too bad when we run in to the same problems, the technical details in soldering and protecting joints, your self-deprecating humour, etc.

(blushing) Thanks, Terry. I enjoy my channel and viewers very much and never imagined I'd have so many great people tuning in, including you. I sad about this pandemic, but excited by how many thousands of machines have been pulled from the attics and basements around the world and are getting a new life making masks. My monthly views have doubled although they are slacking off now that people are getting their machines up and running. My favorite contacts are from the younger people who have grandma's and great grandma's old Singer and are impressed with the build and quality and craftsmanship they may have never seen before. When they hear that the $100 model 99K from the 1940s would cost about $1,400.00 today they get the idea of what they inherited. Thanks for always being supportive of my channel and efforts. I mean many thanks 👍 Take Care.

Terry McClean I could not agree with you more. I like everything about Andy’s videos. I get a kick out of his chuckle.

Terry you said all I was thinking and more, and much more eloquently than I would have. Andy is just a fun treasure for all of us vintage machine nuts, I can’t count the number of times I have referred to these videos and been empowered to make repairs I never would have dreamed of before. We’re so lucky!

Using your rubber band idea, I put a thin latex glove on my left hand & was able to remove it. Thanks for the tip!

Brilliant! The rubber band is a great tool. Thank you for the tip. I paid a tad bit more for my "Pretty" but after following your videos she runs like a champ. Also, thanks for your help on my "Cute" she purrs along just fine now. I wish I were your apprentice.

Two very nice machines, Kathleen! Thanks for your wonderful comment. My wife said no apprentice allowed 👀 but I do have 500+ videos on my playlist page. Thanks for saving your machines and I hope you'll do more in the future. Take Care.

Liquid electrical tape? I had no idea it existed. I’m going to buy it so I can try it on something! Thanks for the educational, entertaining and relaxing video. I agree, this is a good hobby in the time of Covid-19.

I found it useful on many occasions. I did not mention that you can peel it off after it cures if you need to remove it for some reason. There is another brand that works the same but I can't remember the name of it. Thanks for commenting and take care.

Great repair Andy! I have no experience with the liquid E tape, but now I wouldn't hesitate to use it. Admire your soldering skills and patience. Routing and repairing 70 year old wiring in such a confined space is fussy work for sure.

Thank you. I forgot to mention in the video that the liquid tape can be removed after is sets by just peeling it off.
My soldering skills felt rusty to me but I got it done without catching anything on fire, so a win for me, haha.
Looking at the wires last night I'm starting to think a light coating of the LET on all the cloth-covered wires may be a good idea to protect that cloth from breaking down even more over the years. Thank you very much for watching my channel and commenting. Take Care.

I love the things I learn here! Great idea using a rubber band for gripping the bulb. Also, I never knew there was a liquid tape!

A very old school method that still works. The LET can also be peeled off if needed. Thank you, Nola. Take care.

My Word Andy! You never cease to amaze me with your ingenuity! FW Shop wanted $5 for a little rubber tube. But Rubber bands?! Wow. I’d been trying to get the new bulb into the machine for an hour. Perfect!

Thank you, Pat. As Plato wrote “our need will be the real creator” and he was correct. Besides, almost everyone around the world has a rubber band 😊

Thanks so much, I bought some liquid electrical tape and fixed the wiring on my 201-2 it was shorting. It worked perfectly. Thank you, thank you.

Another great video. I’m looking forward to you opening the motor. I have opened one motor - very carefully. I have a 1937 Featherweight and the motor is getting hot when I sew. I haven’t had time to open its motor. I am wondering what the life is of the motor wicks in the lubricant tubes. I believe the wicks are difficult to replace so hope that is not my problem.

Thanks for watching. I've never worked on a 221 motor before, or a motor with lubrication wicks. An OSMG told me years ago use a hollow tube to remove old grease and then put a drop of oil into the wick before adding the lube. Just last night a friends sent me this link to the Featherweight Shop and info about the motor. I have not had time to look at it much but it looks worth the time.

I like to sit my 221 on its side ( on flywheel ) to remove and replace the bulb

Thanks for mentioning the lead poisoning! While it might not affect grown ups to much kids only need 5 micrograms/liter of blood. Please use gloves and maybe newspaper or something under your work area that can be tossed right away. And work wet if possible to keep the dust down.
