Wow! Thank you kindly Frank😀. My days of Certifications are long behind me now. Love the retired life. We really enjoy making videos to inspire folks to garden especially those that have never had a garden before. I wish all parents would grow a small backyard garden involving their children. Some of my dearest childhood memories were in the garden. Both my parents taught me but mostly my Daddy. He was born and raised on a farm in Southwest Georgia and forgot more than I'll ever know about gardening and homesteading. I often wish he was still here to see my garden and instruct me. He was a good man.

lol I live in Atlanta and was looking for the red clay in your garden area but didn't see a single clod of it :). If you are in georgia now, you have done a fabulous job of soil remediation in the garden area.

We live in Virginia (Zone 8A). Yes, my soil is clay. When I first started working the soil it was similar to yours just not as red as Georgia Red Clay. I spent a lot of time deep tilling in lots of leaves and vegetable matter. I have added countless bails of compressed peat and pal lots of Black Kow. It is good now. If I dig down about 24" is will hit the hard clay again. The top is much better now but if it is allowed to dry out for long periods of time it tries to behave like clay again. I have to keep on it by adding leaves and compost and cultivating it

My yard is full of obsidium from the volcano across the lake. I'd need a skip loader and a sieve to get this yard in growing condition. Need lots of grow boxes. I think i'll move :D. Thanks again for your videos. just love em.

My father used a copper tubing on green onions so when the onions grew there was more white part then green part, because of the lack of sun it became more white from the root. It was about 4 or 6 inch tubes. I don't know about pcv pipes would work but it's just an idea. Love your videos

Hollis and Nancy, I love your videos. I've been a long time gardener and love to continue learning. I'm not sure if you do much canning but you can pressure can your onions in small half pint jars with just a little bit of butter or olive oil. You'll want to saute them first until they are just about done then pack them into the jars. They are great for soups and stews. I also saute onions with just a little butter, olive oil, or bacon grease until nearly done then put them into vacuum bags for the freezer. You can also saute combinations like onions, green peppers and mushrooms, or onions and celery, then vacuum seal them and freeze them. I spread them out on pizza or on top of a grilled steak. They're perfect for just about any dish that calls for cooked onions. You can also prepare and freeze your own onions rings. Just slice the onions, coat them in a stiff batter, roll them in flour, then freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet covered in wax paper. In a few hours they will be frozen stiff and you can put them into a freezer bag, pulling out a few at a time for home-grown onion rings during the winter. I pity anyone who doesn't love onions!!! Keep the great videos coming.

We are growing red onions and some of them started bolting due to some crazy weather we've had. We used the flowers and flower bulbs in a sauce and the flavor was absolutely amazing. The entire plant of the onion is edible so if you see those flower bolts, snap them off and use them. Very delicious!

Good Morning, was wondering if you could show us, how to get the seeds from the different veggies (and flowers) that we have grown. Like in this video I would have loved to see how to get the seeds out of the pod. Also, does Nancy have any good recipes or suggestions on using the "green onion" part of the plant? These grow like weeds for me, and I am currently over producing in the summer and need to figure out what to do with them. Love all your videos and very much appreciate you both sharing you knowledge. TIA

I was wondering what was i doing wrong with my onions, they grew very nice but small bulbs. I never thought to expose the bulb for it to expand. Thank you, next season, God willing, I will do like you do. I will see if I get nice looking bulbs. Thank you again for teaching us. Blessings, Laura M

I love the board you made to make the holes. I fight nut grass and chickweed. The chickens get the chickweed, but it is everywhere so I put down corn gluten among the onions. That helps me a lot. So now, I have to get my hubby to make me a board.

I have become obsessed watching your videos. I don't have a green thumb, but I am trying 😊 We have a big problem with ants making mounds in our garden. Is Seven Dust really safe to use? I hate the idea of putting chemicals of any kind in our garden. Thank you again for these wonderful videos ❤

yey! thanks for this. i just picked out 1/2 my ready onions! it'll continue to rain here and i don't have a ready rack, so i jigged some racks in the cool basement. will that do? do i need to use those plastic veggie storage bags? i don't have any handy and amazon takes forever anymore... can i just use fabric mesh bags? long ago i used old nylons...
