- Hey guys this is my reaction to the music video for Given-Taken which was the debut song of K Pop group ENHYPHEN. This is my first time reacting to ENHYPHEN so I hope you guys enjoy it!

Yeah they are obviously vampires but since we just got the second MV with Drunk-Daze we don't know much about the storyline yet.

ENHYPEN (7 members) is created by a survival show from BeLift Labs.
BeLift is both HYBE (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) and CJ E&M. So basically, they’re like the half little brothers of BTS and TXT (they share the same daddy 😁).
BeLift manages ENHYPEN while HYBE is in charge of the music side of things (co-parenting lol).
To make you feel more confused (or maybe not), HYBE is the name of main company (no longer Big Hit Entertainment Ltd)...HYBE Labels is the section of the music agencies under HYBE, such as Big Hit Music (no longer Big Hit Entertainment), BeLift, Pledis, etc. ...there’s other sections too to HYBE that’s apart from music. Therefore the name change had to happen since Big Hit is synonymous with BTS. Not everything is about BTS on the business side.
And yes, ENHYPEN’s concept is vampires and still is vampires now for their comeback.

It is not that common to have a kpop group without rappers but there are some... nowadays tho, companies are more into the ideas of having "all rounders", and as many of them as they can... back in the day there were very clear positions/jobs each member had in the group but in never generations, everyone can do almost everything to an extent. It's not as common to have lets say a main vocal also be an amazing rapper, but more and more rappers are showing *amazing* singing abilities, to the point that they can indeed fill in for the lead, or even main vocals if needed. Having versitile rappers also helps cause you can have ballads or slower songs and not feel like you have to have a rap section cause you need to include everyone

At 12:05 you can see smoke emitting from him and at 15:31 you can see him disappear into ashes. It's because he is standing under broud daylight as a vampire.
You didn't see the bear holding Sunoo who bit the last person in the video, Jeongwon. Look at Sunoo at the beginning of the video, he was sitting on the chair and everyone disappeared, and when he was alone in the room, he was shouting and his fangs showed up.In the dark he is the first vampire and he is the one who transformed everyone. And the glass that broke sees itself in a song Let me in

Their storyline is indeed about vampires. Their lyrics are clever cause they both fit their feelings about becoming artists in real life and also their fictional universe.
Like how is see BTS' House of cards. It written by them following their own feelings... but somehow it fits with the BTS universe also

i know i'm kinda late but they do have rappers, it's just they haven't make the rappers rap in their songs, but some of them raps, you can see it from their dance practice (very good, boy in luv, love me right, i like it)
They don't have an *official* rap line, since so far no one has rapped on any released songs, but we know at least half of them can indeed rap and have done so for special stages/covers and the New Years BH family concert
So Enhypen is under a label that is basically a merger/collab between BigHit (or well, HYBE) and CJM enterntainment (or if it's easier, mnet's music label). So how it works for the most part is, they divided the work between the companies, HYBE is responible for the music/artistic aspect while CJM is responsible for managing their schedules, promotions and so on...

Enhypen is pronounced in-hi-pen because the Korean language doesn't have the ph sound in its alphabet

Wow just realized in this song they have white fangs while in the next one Drunk-Dazed (highly recommended) they have red fangs in the lyrics. So our vampires are growing up and feeding! I’m so proud.
The theme is vampires yes, it's quite obvious when you see theteasers and concepts, know about BH's love for storylines and so on, but coming in blind I can totally get not picking up on it or being unsure so decide to just not assume. This MV is slight creepy and eary vibes, the new one is really in your face, lyrics are quite obvious as well, there's a lit of blood and so on....

They've been hinting the vampire thing from the first concept pics. And in this comeback we have another chapter of the creepy story. It's super interesting and has the fans making theories left and right.
Funny thing, with the first teaser we were all wondering what kind of monster they could be, and even tho this MV leaves it very clear, and future MVs confirm even more, you can still find some people like "but are they tho?"

Horror/dark themes are thriving in kpop these days.
Personally, I love music with a theatrical feel. So this was one of the best songs of the 2020 for me. And for a rookie grp to have that effect on me amazed me. It's HYBE (I am still not over the change in name😭😭), I shudnt be surprised. And the connected storyline with vampires is a big plus. The HYBE universe expands
If u didn't know yet, all the grps with a continuous storyline in HYBE is frickin connected like the Marvel universe 😶😂. And they have potentially hinted on bringing warewolves to the this with another grp. My head is already exploding with the new TXT storyline additions, and trying to link it with BTS' storyline, and now I get this😭😭
The latest video is very creepy too. I loved the song as well. Will wait for the reaction to that if you are doing it.
The final creepy music is actually the outro to their first album. And the full version is even more creepy and amazing, with some amazing bass action. I wud recommend you also go listen to the intro and outro of both their debut and latest album. Those are top tier.
Abt the music production team, I think they are somewhat similar. Enhypen has bang sihyuk himself helping with production, and I think there are two or three producers who are the same ones as for TXT. And that must be exactly why I love both of the grps after BTS themselves. The production is soo very pretty and theatrical, just how I like it.

Now that Hybe is not being unreasonable, a little helpful guide about the MVs:
If you are invested in the Vampire Story, watch every single MV. The intro/outro are shorter and mostly spoken word, but they connect the storyline. You can totally skip them if you wanna focus on the main songs/MVs. They could be musically interesting tho. That's up to you to decide :) but they are not a MUST unless you really wanna know what's happening with the story
Also a little fun fact, when they debuted their leader was oficially the youngest leader in kpop... he was barely 16, but the group chose him and as much as we were all shocked since he is not just the second youngest, but soo young. But he is doing a great job and they chose very well,he is so level headed and has apparently always been the one to try and reolve any minor arguments that might have happened between them.

Yes they are pronounced like you said it, but their English speaking member Jake always says Enhyphen. Since their logo is En-. But there is no f sound in Korean so they always pronounce it like you did here.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Enhypen is spelled the way it is to make it easier for Koreans. Their name itself is derived from the meaning of hyphen, so it makes sense for it to be pronounced like how you would pronounce “hyphen”. That’s why I think either pronunciation is fine.

Fun fact! In the scene when they look in their mouth "looking for fangs" there's a flashing scene of a table/shelf with a bunch of jars....and in the corner, two long fangs just chilling there after being obviously extracted from a mouth

They are seven members, just like BTS. Some of them can rap, but the company decided to make it a vocal group. Maybe in the future they will add some rap, but so far we only see them rap in covers. This is not the only group with no rap in their songs. And then you have groups like TXT where all of them are vocalists AND all of them are rappers AND all of them are dancers. You have two "main rappers" doing the rap parts but everyone has the ability to rap.

okay so about the label thing with enhypen (btw you said the name right don't worry)
bighit (now HYBE which is pronounced like HIVE so HYBE of bees if that makes sense ??? you pronounce it w/ the B not the V, i'm not really sure f that makes sense but hopefully it does), decided to make a lil survival TV show where young trainees would essentially duke it out with their talents to debut in the new group that the company had planned
bighit is essentially a parent company of many other labels that do their own thing with their own kpop groups, enhypen being no exception as be lift is under HYBE
basically how the label thing works is like you have the alternative genre but you hae all the subgenres like punk, goth, etc. but they all still classify as alternative if you get what i mean

jay & jake are the designated rappers of the group but i believe the entire group can rap if not only a select few of them
storyline !!! legit twilight but make it better. they are vampires, you'd have to watch their storyline trailers as well as their newest comeback to get caught up with everything & be just as confused as everyone else but at least have a lot of context for theories you might come up with yourself or base off of others you'e heard
