I have loved my stihl fs40c curved shaft. I dont believe I've ever owned a straight shaft trimmer so can't personally compare the two styles. But after two growing seasons of use i have no complaints.

I'm 5'8 and have been using a corded curved for 20 years without issue BUT i have a bigger property now and I want more power and freedom from the cord, so I'm seriously trying to figure out if the curved gas would be good enough. I tried holding the straights and man those suckers are surprisingly heavier than I expected but I want that power for the brush. Your video helped, I think the curved gas will be enough for my needs.

im 6'3" have a very high end Ryobi Curved line 32 CC 2 stroke gas motor. we also have a 52 CC brush cutter thats commercial grade. heres the thing i found. i live on a 11 degree downhill in sub tropic climate so i cut 2 times a week year round. the curved one is definitely more comfortable for me personally and does the trick very well on heavy nylon string. The brush cutter is not very practical for me because i tend to hold things in strange positions. it really is preference unless you landscape i think. i love my curved one way more than the other one because the big one is way heavy on parts too like clutches and those blade options only apply until one finds an option that is practical for your job then its what you stick to. our big cutter is fitted with 2 nylon strings btw. same as my curved one because why fix whats not broken? aside from that it needed a new clutch already.

Nothing mentioned about a curved shaft spinning counter clockwise versus a straight shaft spinning clock wise it matters to the people that are left or right handed

I'm left-handed, but like a lot of lefties, have grown up in a right-handed world. I tend to work with the trimmer on my right.

Im 5'10" and just got a straight shaft. Way more comfortable! The curved shaft is so awkward.
