Hey everyone! Hope you like this cemetery build. It took me about 40hours to build and playtest. Keep in mind I'm a slow builder, so I usually take my time and mostly just experiment with color swatches and different debug objects. As always this is CC free. Download link is up in the description and I would love if you guys check it out the lot in your game, especially during game night time. My builds are there to be used. By that I mean : play, renovate and decorate them as you like. If this inspired you in any shape or form for your sims gameplay. Then I'm a happy potato. Thank you all!
It is a tradition for some cultures to have food at the wake, and yes even dancing can occur for those who specifically wanted to celebrate the life of the deceased instead of focusing on loss. I appreciate that the sims team included it since not everyone has the same funeral/wake traditions and since we only have one activity added, they wanted to allow as much storytelling as possible. I think you did a great job even if it seems like you were a bit thrown off by the different traditions. The wall plaque area is nice and I love that you scaled up the worn grave to have some inscriptions on the wall.
Yeah I figured that it was the celebrating the deceased life approach of a funeral. I think it is beautiful and a lovely idea. But I've never experienced that myself as German funerals are all very sad and quiet. I so hope they update this pack or base game and give us wall plaques. I honestly think this was a great miss by the team and is the only thing I'm a bit angry about. The rest of weird objects or swatches in this Pack can be reduced down to taste and gameplay preferences, I won't argue on that.
Happy to see you back but I’m so sorry you’ve experienced so much death lately! My condolences for all your losses. Really beautiful build as usual. I love how you create your own things with items we already have. I can say this would definitely work in the US at least in the Northeastern states. The areas that were settled during colonial times were very European inspired. We have a lot of classic Gothic architecture especially with churches and such.
Oh yes, I've actually not only looked up New Orleans cemeteries but also other US cemeteries and graveyards and they all have similar elements to also German cemeteries. Generally all cemeteries around the world somehow have some sort of basic layout it seems. In the end I settled for, what would fit onto this lot for sims gameplay. I'm happy you like the build! =)
This build is AMAZING! I love the amount of research and reference to cultural/religious symbolism. The chapel and the custom mausoleums are excellent. Fun fact: the reason that they use above ground crypts in New Orleans is because the water table there is high and prone to flooding, which doesn't work well with below ground burials 😬 Many thanks Fry for this build and also, much appreciation for the mention 😁👻
Thank you again for sharing your workaround for the plaques. Had to spread the word for sure. Hope that was ok. Wasn’t sure if I have to ask, so I went with my gut, that everything shared in a public comment section can be used and referenced😂 Happy you like the build.
I'm so sorry for your losses. I know what it's like to lose people back to back and its just unbelievable. Missed you and hope you're having happy days now
Thats very kind of you. It sucks but that’s life. My deepest condolences to you. I am indeed jn a much happier place now and finally reached a calm mindset, I hope you do too! ❤️ hugs
I've been looking forward to this so much! You did not disappoint. 😁 You've just got this impeccable feeling for architectural detail, spacing, and flow.
I'm sorry for your loss. I know it just.. it absolutely sucks, to put it briefly. :/ 💔 Before getting too grim... this is such a gorgeous and cool build! The amount of planning really shows in the final build. 👌 I really wish I had the pack. (Gotta enter in a gazillion giveaways, no luck yet haha) And the audio on this one was really good! I tried with headphones too, music and voice were well in balance and I very much enjoyed your music choices! 🖤✌️
Happy you like the build and even more happy you like the audio. I think I hae my metrics figured out. Still there will be issues with audio whenever something is off and I don't realize it soon enough (like the mic being broken oder something with the editing). So please let me know when you think something feels/hears off. Thanks so much again!
@Simproved hey no problem! I'll let you know, should the occasion arise ^^ Also I love how I autopiloted through that "oder" only realising when I was already past the sentence. My German might be rusty but I guess it's good that my brain will just scramble together and make out the meaning of words regardless of language :D
@@dontwanagivit1860 oh damn, I just see that oder now. hehe. yeah sometimes my english is still buffering but my hands are still typing. Oops. oder means or in English. So yeah it still makes sense grammatically.
@@Simproved oh no problem I speak some German so I just found it funny :D I never mix up English and German myself but oh boy Swedish and German.. they are way too similar! It's the exact same thing like you just casually use a word without noticing that it's not even the language you're supposed to be putting out.. it's like they're occupying neighbouring memory slots in the brain or something! :D
Hallo! So wenige Deutsche sind es gar nicht mehr. Auf meiner Kanalseite habe ich zu meinen Simsfreundinnen verlinkt. Vielleicht kennst du sie nich nicht und schaust mal rein. Happy simming❤️
What a gorgeous built ! The atmosphere at night is lovely. Our French graveyard do have a lot of those crypt like buldings, but they really lack of greenery, unlike the German graveyard.
it is one of the most beautiful build and complex and well achieve that i have EVER SEEN! the amount of time! i cant even imagine how much it took to achieve this magnificent masterpiece! well done! im flabergasted. And i am SUPERFAN of the 3 goddess you made as a temple, WOW! 🌓🌕🌗 its supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!! 🤪😍🤩🥰
Absolutely stunning, this is what’s finally gotten me hyped to play Sims again. I completely agree with what you said about having things that are alive there making it less scary, the bugs and birds and trees turn what could be a sad place into a peaceful, happy one. I didn’t take much notice of the stuff hanging from the trees but looking at it I think it’s supposed to be Spanish moss? I’ve never lived in New Orleans, but I’ve lived in a similar city with the same climate, and we had it on just about every tree. It’s a bit too green for that but the texture and length is right.
I think it’s some sort of airoid plant, but not sure. Anyway I really liked the “natural curtains” it provides so I definitely wanted to use those trees.
You are correct, it's definitely Spanish moss (or a variant of it). You can find it in plenty of states in the south and I have seen them (rarely) get a little green but definitely not as green as they have in game. 😅 It never occurred to me other people didn't immediately know what that was.
Once again I find myself wondering how does she do this? I may have figured it out, with great creativity and patience, mad skills and about 40 hours! That you didn't use the new pack is kind of awe inspiring. Thanks for seeing that the new pack is based on Life AND Death, and then combining them so beautifully in this build. My sims will be laid to rest there for eternity... More importantly, I want to offer you my truly heartfelt condolences. Grief is a tricky and ever changing bitch, and being able to take the time you needed right away is such a good thing. I'm glad that you're ready to let the light back in. Build thoughts/ ideas - did I hear you say catacombs? I'm thinking of a big lot with 3 layers. At street level is a small block of restaurants, clubs and bars; under that would be some very old catacombs that wind around the lot in an underground tunnel kind of way (a good place to get scared or grossed out); of course within the catacombs, hidden away here and there would be doors that lead down to a further underground area where a nest of vampires reside, but in an elaborate and cozy style, not spooky. Blame this on all of the supernatural urban fantasy books I read. This could possibly take more than 40 hours 😁
Thanks so much. I'm happy you like the build. I did use some of the objects from the new Life and Death Pack. However it turned out we didn't need so many of them, mostly gravesites and funeral objects. Thank you for your kind words. I'm at a very much happier place now. But I definitely needed the time off Sims and contet creation to focus more on other stuff and I recommend every "online" person to do the same in a situation like this. Yes the catacombs could be a very big build again. The thing is I've already built some catacombs in The Sims 4 before and I honestly don't see the gameplay value in doing them again. Maybe some day. We'll see.
Absolutely stunning and the detail! Wonderful!! I wanted to say that I'm so sorry for the losses you've had in the last year. It's never easy. I never say good-bye, only see ya later to those lost. And I guess I shouldn't say "lost" because a friend reminded me that if they are in my heart or on my mind they are not lost. Anyway, enough rambling. Good to have you back to building.
Yes exactly. You don't lose people. They stay with you in a way. It also takes time to get to this conclusion and find peace. The only takeaway I got is that it indeed gets easier with every death you experience. My grief times got shorter and now I can get to the "made peace with it" situation quicker. Don't know how to describe it. Anyways, thanks so much for your lovely comment. Glad you like the build.
I would like to spend my time in here just to be peaceful and draw the beautiful architecture and nice trees. We have that kind of cemetery in France (not everywhere though). Reminds me of Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris for the most famous
I let the game run for quite some days to see when it will eventually crash/sims will be stuck. But it kept going and going and honestly it was fun watching them chatting up ghosts and doing the same wholesome interactions with the graves. really peaceful. If the sims voices would be soothing, then a 10hr asmr sort of stream of this lot would be fun. haha
There's a movie from 1980 (ish) called The Changeling (with George C. Scott NOT with Angelina Jolie, lol) - the house from that movie is big and creepy. It would be so cool to see your take on it :)
Haha. Wow an OG cult member here. I honestly was thinking about it putting the head in the chapel or the temple both times and just didn’t sit right. I brought shame to our coven. May his celestial fin strike me hard.
Sorry for your losses. I hope you are doing OK. It is tradition where I live to have food (coffee and sandwiches or pie) after a funeral for close family and friends of the deceased. It is a way to gather and remember the person who passed away. It is useful to have this as part of the funeral as well.
Yes they absolutely will. Ghost spawn there and will fly around too. The Sims you see in the video tour are all visitors that the game send there. My bonehilda was lovked in a crypt the while time so she doesn’t ruin the shot.
