- In Belarus huge crowds of protesters are continuing to stage demonstrations against President Alexander Lukashenko and the election two weeks ago that they say was rigged. Riot police have been ordered onto the streets of the capital Minsk. The BBC's Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg is there.

Not from Belarus but this appears to be a generational thing. The vast majority of the people in the protests are young people. Most look under 30. It's highly possible that Lukashenkos support comes from the middle aged and older including possibly very high support in rural areas. I currently can't see the cross section of generations that would reflect a true discontent.

it is in itself an expression of democracy, power is the Nation. The nation does not agree that one person should push others like a chess figure. The voice of the nation is democracy. Each nation is like a personality one grows faster, others grow slower. Some rely on some man, in the case of Belarus it was President Lukashenko (who the nation called the father) but the nation grew up if it no longer needs a father, it needs freedom, but the father does not allow. Countries like England, France, the US are like old people, smart people (Old long-lived democracies). Others are young people who have just freed themselves from the influence of their father or older brother, especially in Eastern Europe, Germany and Italy. There are still those who are not ready to go alone for them in a terrible outside world as a child for the first time walking alone. All nations will sooner or later grow up and begin their lives. Most importantly, it’s not a rejection or ignorance they need help with. Not only morally but also physically we are all human beings and we need to help each other. borders must remain only cultural (so that a nation is not assimilated but grows and cultivates its own culture, understands its history) but other nations must help young nations build democracy, teach love not to hate, cultivate endurance and understand that a soldier, policeman, firefighter and medical not an enemy but a friend, a defender, a savior who can always tell you that someone is hurting you and he will not come with a stick but first of all listen and act as a guardian of justice. when I need to be warned and taught that it is wrong to do so (my country's police have punished me only once, all the other times I have received a lecture that such behavior endangers others or myself) punishes and detains when it is obligatory (my police protect me and I respect it, never exceeded his powers, always tense, cultured and polite). I wish peace and growth to the Belarusian people. You are awesome! you peaceful, hardworking nation awaits you with a great future I believe in.

Magda Ty I do as I have followed the life of Belarusians for many years. I have friends who live there and have suffered because of Lukashenko decision and the way he has been running the country. I am also one of the majority of people, both in Belarus and outside, who consider him a corrupt dictator in power only to satisfy his mythomania not to improve the lives of Belarusians.

Magda Ty I don’t have a president, the head of state of where I have been living for the last forty years is a Queen. That is problem when people assume rather than researching. Look at how Lukashenko has halted the progress of the country. What is available to people. The cost of living. Who has the key roles in Belarus. Most of all, look at what has happened to his political opponents and freedom of speech. Even just before the latest elections his opponents got arrested. Why? He underestimated the capabilities of what three women could achieve. He dismissed as insignificante. He was proven wrong. How can there be more people on the streets than votes for the opponent?
