I honestly love the idea that Banana Guard and Jason Voorhees are the two new fighters (that we didn't already know about from before Multiversus' hiatus) we're getting at launch
They're both 'WTF' fighters, but in different directions I feel. Because who would predict a literal gag character among a roster of main characters, or a live-action slasher killer in a colorful whacky game full of cartoon and comic characters

Arya Stark was one of the first characters revealed for a game where she appears alongside Bugs Bunny and Steven Universe, having Jason be confirmed alongside a silly background character from Adventure Time doesn't seem that farfetched.

In case you missed it, they just announced Jason Universe.
It's basically the rights holders' way of using the IP in any form of media that's not movies. Some have noticed that Jason could appear in Fortnite, and now there's a strong possibility of Jason appearing in MultiVersus.

I don't know if many people realized or not, but John Tobias is in one of the pictures of the devs with bananas and stuff, John Tobias being a dev in the game, and being the co-creator of Mortal Kombat could be a hint that we could be getting a Mortal Kombat character eventually.

I think they will do it, Bravo is part of the OG line-up of Cartoon Network and since they are in the field of adding Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab fighters and content in, Johnny being one of the next OG CN line-up characters being likely.

Honestly, I don't mind Banana Guard, I just think the timing for his announcement wasn't great. Once the game was back out, and had been out for a few months, sure, but the game isn't even out yet.
If he happened a year from now, after marceline or ice king as a 4th/5th AT rep when multiple series have a hand full of reps I think it'd be more acceptable
That's my take on it as well. I don't mind the character itself, just that it feels like the type of inclusion to make like a year or two into the game once it's settled in so to speak, and not as one of possibly only 3 new characters available on relaunch when you're already struggling to recover goodwill with a large portion of the playerbase

I feel like it makes the most sense to do a joke character at relaunch, as that means he’s launching alongside other characters that people actually want, instead of in the middle of a release cycle where people would be disappointed that they’d have to wait even longer for a “good” character.
Again, though, every good fighting game franchise needs a joke character, and Banana Guard’s a pretty good one imo.

Yo Multiversus is going to be crazy dude.. I don't think i expected them to add him as a playable character. But honestly i feel like there should be a good balance of wacky characters, joke characters, and serious characters. But of course it really depends on the fighting game and how you market it.
All I got to say is anyone who watched "Hey Arnold!" growing up KNEW Grandma was about that action.
I feel like people forget that Adventure Time was absolutely massive and there's a good chance WB considers it one of its more valuable IPs.

What if the trailer we get tomorrow is of Shaggy running through the Haunted Mansion, and he comes face to face with Jason. Jason then swings his machete at Shaggy, but gets hit by something. We then see Scooby Doo defending Shaggy, and the trailer ends with him saying “Scooby dooby doo” giving us a reveal for both Jason and Scooby? I doubt it will happen, but it would be cool

I’m looking forward to Monday as I just have to know who Jason will play in Multiversus as apparently the Friday the 13th Movies do have connections to WB which I didn’t know until now which could be interesting to see and honestly I’m ok with Joker Characters in a Fighting Game like this as it brings Tons of Potential and makes the Roster extremely Unpredictable so I’m giving Banana Guard a Shot, I’m curious to see Neo and if Keanus would play him, and the fact that They’re teasing MK Characters in the form of John “Thaman” Tobias makes me happy as we know Scorpion and Sub-Zero are Coming Soon and if Patrick Seitz and Steven Blum are Voicing Them then I will Die Happy because when I think of those Ninjas I thinks on their MKX Dialogues.

I'd love to be completely blindsided tomorrow and have something like an MVS direct, where we get a bunch of news in the final lead up to launch. Start it with a trailer for Jason, then have Tony or one of the Community Managers go into his kit, show off a quick run of the Rift mode, some new items, maybe another new stage or two, and end with the big CGI trailer announcing 2-3 more characters, one more for launch and the others for the remainder of Season 1.

That is John Tobias. It's been known for a few years he was working at WB Games in San Diego in some capacity but PFG is based out in San Diego, which isn't too far. We can read into this meaning an MK character or several of them are possible but I'm more surprised to know he's part of PFG

You are legit on of the realest content creators for this game, I was baffled with the amount of blind glazing for this Banana character just to support this game for the sake of it… glad to see someone call it for what it is; poor timing and decision
I don't personally have any particular fondness or attachment to Jason, but I think its a solid choice both in general and for the relaunch. It definitely felt like there was little to no attention being given to movies (particularly on the live-action side) for the relaunch, everything so far was more focused on cartoons and comics. So Jason fills an important niche there, I think. And he's certainly a well-known and popular character. A true horror character is also nice since all the horror based content in MVS so far has been more horror comedy with Scooby Doo and Gremlins. We do still need more movie based stages for sure though.
Its a little wild to me that video games still have basically zero rep in MVS though.
I guess a lot of other characters will be released with that 2 week period like in the beta.

I'm personally fine with Banana Guard as long as his inclusion didn't remove development time for a more popular and fleshed character. The PVE explanation makes this inclusion feel alot better as all this would be is more content and playstyles that didn't take up too much development time. I do hope that having already 3 Adventure Time characters doesn't remove the priority on the addition of others such as Ice King or Bubble Gum, sure the game may feel very oversaturated with Adventure Time if another gets added but if a "slot" for Adventure Time is wasted on a background character that wouldn't be good and I'd much rather representation of the characters that would bring more of an impact in seeing crossover with our other favorite WB properties.
I do love it how everyone just straight up doesn't mention the Animaniacs and The Brain anymore like before as literally their heads are on the new loading screen/poster in the background

I personally don’t mind Banana Guard. A joke character is bound to happen eventually. And I 100% agree with the mindset of not putting all your best characters out right away. Imagine if the game is getting stale and they release Banana Guard? Save the better characters for rainy days.
I will say however that I do think we should flesh out other IPs before bolstering existing ones. I like Adventure Time but I don’t want to see 7 characters from that show come to the game before we get a new GoT character (just an example). Get a wide variety of IPs in the game and give them all equal love where possible (some IPs have more characters than others) so as to promote a diverse roster that represents all corners of WB (and beyond).

The guy in the front is a co creator of mortal kombat, he’s credited with some designs in mortal kombat. he now is a consulter and if u look at any of his bios on Twitter, ig etc. he isn’t listed as any worker in player first games. given that he’s a consulter, and the setting that him and some other devs are in is an office, mortal kombat characters likely are being talked about among the devs. I just wanted to bring that up lol. Ps: this isn’t me saying that MK x Multiversus is coming or that it’s coming soon or that MK characters are next to come, im just saying smth I’ve seen and heard and yes I did research to see if he was a dev for pfg and he is not
Honestly I won't be surprised if some of the odd choices and uncertainty around the characters is due to WB rights shuffling around or execs changing their mind or other various real life circumstances (Kevin Conroy's death, Justin Roiland's accusations etc.) just forcing the team to constantly have to change or make due with what they can.
Personally I feel BG is a result of this: They already have the rights to Adventure Time, he's cylindrical like the rumored Pickle Rick character but free from Justin Roiland's controversy so they likely reused some animations here and there and realized they had deadlines for the relaunch approaching and just decided to go for it. at least thats my tinfoil hat theory.

Probably not. That series is sadly in a legal limbo that would be incredibly difficult to get through.
