Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what videos you’d like to see more this year 👇🏿
I'd be curious to learn more about your routines as you build them out.
Yes will make more videos around this!
You are amazing Bukola! :)
Nice hearing someone in tech talk about taking things more slowly
Its an unpopular strategy, but its one that works better for me! thanks for commenting!
Lesson 1: Slow Down. Move towards your goals at a suitable pace. Avoid burnout.
Lesson 2: Focus on having routines and systems in place. Integrate goals in your routines and systems.
Lesson 3: Take breaks when needed. Breaks are critical for feeling productive overall.
"I am not scared because I don't want to be scared". I loved this so much! I just left my job and taking some time off - I know it's a scary time in the market right now but I felt like I really needed to take this break.
Great recap on your lessons during your time off. I hope I can also learn these lessons and discover my own during my break :)
The quality of your vids is so underrated. I see the broll, cuts, clear visuals etc. impeccable
I appreciate that! I put alot of work into every video
Thank you
I remember coming across your channel when I was trying to get my first job in tech. As a fellow self-taught female software engineer, it was so reassuring to watch your journey. 4 years later and after dealing with my own share of burnout and uncertainty, I am now reaching the same conclusions. Bit sad I won't be able to test Offline on Android, but best of luck with the launch and I'll keep watching and waiting for more amazing content
Thank you! Yes slow, steady and balanced wins the race!
Im also burnt out but not in tech. If i quit my job, my mental health will get even worse. Not sure what to do
@@adammorra3813 I can't speak for everyone but personally what helped me was learning how to prioritise my wellbeing in small but meaningful ways. Everyone always told me to get a new job, join a gym and make all these drastic changes, but the reality is if you don't have the energy to implement them, you won't be able to see any progress at all. I started seeing a therapist and worked through the ACT book The Happiness Trap by Dr Harris. I became more active in tech communities and invested in building relationships with colleagues. Work issues became so much easier when I had all these people standing up for me to my managers and having my back. Then once I had these support systems in place and was feeling a lot less depressed, I was finally ready to start taking care of my fitness and career goals, looking for new jobs etc. I know this might all sound impossible because I was in that place too, but if you start small by focusing on your mental health and accepting your current situation isn't working for you, but you always have the power to change it, I promise things will eventually improve
does you company offer Mental Health leave? or unpaid leave
There is some real wisdom coming through you! It’s been so fun following along with your sabbatical - can’t wait to see how you continue content and a full time job 😱
Thank you so much! Watch out for the video on my search!
I’m not scared because I don’t want to be scared!” Word!
Bukola is radiating confidence, and that's the best mindset. Calm and rational approach conquer all, step by step. I wish I had a role model like you when I was a younger scared teenager navigating tech life. Thank you, dear Bukola, for sharing your outlook on life. All the best to you.
Nice, I'm glad you did not also scare us with the scary job market, I love your optimism

Good luck finding jobs! I’ve been in tech for 4 years now and beginning to feel really burnt out.. hoping to take a career break in q3/q4 but like you said the job markets are looking very scary right now 😢
Great tips on finding balance
Can you do a video on the systems you developed during this time off?
love the journey

Thank you Jibril! Will keep y’all updated ❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻 definitely not easy to balance getting to goals fast and risking burnout. Zoom out and play the long game
Godspeed!
❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations ❤❤
Thanks!
Another great use for Offline is during fasting periods. Those distractions will make the process useless and performative
Your so beautiful. Thank you for sharing this journey with us 🤗🥁
It's one year already 😮😮😮
Wow🎉🎉🎉🎉
Time flew by!
@@Bukola1 so, so fast
I am a career switcher and got my SWE job and burned out almost immediately. I was still working full time while I studied SWE and once I got my job immediately was in a high stress high paced environment. I’m at a crossroads as to what to do now. My health is suffering.

❤️❤️❤️
Bukola I have heard others who worked at Big tech companies having problems when working on projects in their own time as it could be deemed a conflict of interest; have you had any issues with Google when developing your app?
Content creation tips video? How to get started etc
Umm don't do UA-cam long form! start with short fom content and commit to 100 videos and see what sticks and what you like making
At what point did you stop feeling guilty about taking breaks? Did anything like marking breaks into your calendar help?
How to allocate & a portion time to best achieve one's goals while ensuring we don't miss out on _enjoying_ our lives is a perennial problem each of us must work out.
One prolific author, Arnold Bennett, published his personal realizations for organizing productive time while incorporating "down time" which actually increased his productivity.
I found his short epistle, "How to Live on Twenty Four Hours" worth the read.
That's very interesting! I'll check out that epistle
thanks for the recommendation
Nice
Thanks
Where will you work next?
Where did you get your sweater?
Artizia! But a few years ago
What roles are you interested in going into when you return to tech?
Probably will apply to Dev Rel and Software Engineering roles! I’ll keep you updated
Have you shared numbers? With tech income and UA-cam, I wouldn't be surprised if you're at or near 7 figures.
7 figures 👀 from your mouth to God's ears!
Only caution here is that this young lady will no doubt be successful in whatever professional endeavor she takes up. In a sense, this sort of content is a tad bit dangerous for others. Other people should keep that in mind when thinking of taking a professional gap year.
man i'm trying to get a tech job like that! How do i start?!
I've made so many video on this topic lol just watch what's on my channel
Good morning
Hello 👋
I've been following you for a while now (2 yrs lol), and I love how genuine and real your videos are, not only relating your career but also to your lifestyle. Whatever you're doing, I hope nothing but the best 😊🩷 It's always refreshing and inspiring to see your new videos
You got married?! Whoa 😮
yes!
Congrats! That's an incredible milestone 🩵
Hey Bukola , very good video . I can do better editing in your videos which can help you to get more engagement in your videos . Pls lmk what do you think ?
Bukola your an inspiration for all black people.
Jobs are done. Start a biz.
interesting idk about that 🤔
@@Bukola1 outsourced overseas, visas took over larger firms, see Google
Did you just say you stopped working?
You have 310k subscribers, if you can get every subscriber to give you one dollar, you could retire the rest of the year.
If you can get 6200 people to give you 50 dollars, you could retire the rest of the year.
I don't think you realize how wealthy you are
Did you quit or were you forced to resign? Alot of these posts about people quitting sounds like mass layoffs.
I was not forced to resign, I quit to take a gap year I literally said that in the first part of the video lol
@@Bukola1 Thanks, have to clarify, I'm lazy. I didn't watch the video because I saw a bunch of these on my feed.
You're the opposite of Dave Ramsey
Yes!
1 year went by so fast!! I'd be happy to give you a referral back to Google if you need one!
