If you want a truly funny game, I highly recommend West of Loathing and (to a slightly lesser extent) Shadows Over Loathing. Some of the best writing I've ever seen in video games, and not just comedy.
The Darkside Detective and the sequel have quickly become two of my favorite adventure games. I love Dooley and McQueen so much. I'd watch a movie/tvseries about them. The best part of the humor is how it's primarily personality driven. I like how Dooley's a conspiracy theorist and a lovable himbo; and McQueen always tries to be serious (but only manages to be faux-serious), loyal to his buddy, and steadfast in the face of ridiculousness. The secondary cast leaves an impression too and I like seeing recurring characters show up in other cases, especially the Bloodwolves and Tam.
Always love when we get a Roses adventure game review! 😊 Especially when we get original character voices too! (My favorite is always The Sultry French Maid, bonus points if her name is Fifi!) Watching this video, I have to say there was one line of game dialouge that cracked me up that I will be incorporating into my daily vocabulary, and that is, "Tam has no warmth for you in his heart." 🤣
Oh, This is a great series! good to see it get a signal boost. They still have a bonus chapters to release for the second game, so more to look forward too!
I played it and aside from everything you've already said, I especially liked the structure with the smaller cases. Other adventure games can be hard to get back into if you haven't been able to play them for a week or two, but with this one, you can just snack up on one case and come back later for the others without having to remember tons of characters and locations. also big YAY for more adventure game content.
This game is a wonderfully witty romp that I discovered on sale on the switch store when I was looking for something spooky to play. So glad you enjoyed it and hope you cover the sequel in your inimitable style.
Omg, yes! The puzzles are too simple but this is one of the most charming adventure games I played in the recent years! I love the dialogue and the atmosphere!
I almost never play adventure games nowadays, they require too much engagement from me and I have too little time, but you always make them sound so fun and the excitement and god vibes that come from your reviews always make me smile and have a lot of fun while watching or listening to you.
This game is made of individual cases, and each case takes about 20 minutes. It's perfect if you just want to relax for a half-hour between chores. Sit back, laugh you heart out, then close the game and leave with a smile on your face.
The sequel is also wonderful, even if the cases do stretch on a bit overlong toward the end. And they haven't completed the "bonus" acts you're supposed to unlock as you play.
Okay, i bought it and i must say, it REALLY is beginners first adventure game! Ive never played a point-and-click adventure game where you just GET an item you need in order to progress the story! Everything is just there for the taking! Usually you have to go through some really tricky puzzles or trading quest to get the one thing you need, you know, moon logic. Also, i constantly felt this game could have been darker. It has such a cozy atmosphere that i really wish there was more of a mystery angle to this game, but no one is surprised about anything. "Dimensional doorways in the attic and goblins? Nothing out of the ordinary here!"? There really is no grounding these characters!
I thoroughly enjoyed both these games. The writing is funny, the banter between the detective and Dooley is a lot of fun, the puzzles feel balanced and not unfair. I am glad you liked it. You will definitely like the second one too as I felt it was that good kind of sequel that improves on what the first got right/ Have you played Inspector Waffles? If you liked this series you will definitely enjoy that game, it has the same spirit, only without the supernatural stuff!
I am SO HAPPY to know my brother and I were not the only ones who did our own voice work for games we played. We would choose characters and just go for it. Love your work!
It is I, the lone sliding tile puzzle enjoyer! I am the reason they keep putting those in adventure games. Bwa ha ha ha ha! These are my absolute favourite modern adventure games. I'm glad you loved it too, and I hope you enjoy the sequel!
4:49 oh. my. GOD! The ghost with the black hat in the library, it's called PRATCHETT!!!!!!!!!!! Always happy to see a Terry Pratchett reference in the wild :D
I love all of your videos but I did miss your adventure games reviews and I was happy to see this one. I would love to try this game myself, hope you will enjoy the sequel!
I've started playing this recently and, while watching this video, I realized that I've been playing more point and click adventure games than I've ever played as a kid. Virtuaverse, 2064: Read Only Memories, Darkside Detective, Gemini Rue, etc. It's amazing how much stuff is available now! Also the remastered version of the Blade Runner adventure game came out the other day. Anyways, I love your channel because I love mysteries and adventure games so thanks for making all of this content!
Glad to see games back on your radar. It's a big part of why my wife and I started watching your content and buying the art. Came for the games, stayed for the super talented and funny Roses
That's how modern developers see the video games of late 80s and 90s :) In fact, they are overpixelated, the games of 90s hadnt so big pixels, they had much more detailed backgrounds. This looks like Atari 2600, but there were almost no adventure games on Atari
Also yes growing up with sierra adventure games gets you in the habit of saving in several slot. I even use to make numbered subfolders so I could use the "change directory" option.
While I'm subscribed to a number of channels that point out mistakes in all kinds of things. I always enjoy someone gushing about something they're passionate about, no need to apologize!
I'm so glad you're still making Adventure Game videos, even though you largely focus on nostalgic TV now (not in a bad way! I love both types). I recently binged your King's Quest retrospective series, and I was hoping for a return to the genre.
So glad you found this game, and that you made a video! I remember playing the intro case on Kongregate, and fell in love right away. It's a perfect blend of retro point-and-click art and mechanics, great writing, and fantastic writing and references.
Roses! What a breath of fresh air. I've been missing your gaming content so much. Is there any chance that you'll come back to the Quest for Glory series? I would love to see your take on Shadows of Darkness. 🦑
You know Roses Ken and Roberta Williams are officially remaking Collosal Cave one of the original text based adventure games. I know you were a big fan of their work.
I'll certainly look into this... I've gotta say, I really miss your gaming focused content, it's partly your let's plays and reviews that got me into point and click adventure games.
So happy you got to do an adventure game again! It was what got me subscribed to your channel originally (besides hearing that my old high school classmate knew you, Derek from SSFF!). I know it takes more time to create gaming content, but you have a completely different passion about the topics you interact in, versus the ones you merely watch. Thank you for rejuvenating my love for your channel. Loves from Alaska!
Haven't even watched this yet, but SO EXCITED to! I love your review videos, and this looks like a banger. Also, unrelated, but I would watch you do commentary/review vids for every single episode of Murder She Wrote. I love going on those rides along with you! Have a gorgeous day, starting the video now :D
Nice to see you reviewing an adventure game again! As PC games were a huge blind spot for me, I went down a rabbit hole watching your old reviews back when I first subbed, and seeing this made me nostalgic for the mutant spider screech from your Fable review!😂
Ever since the first video I watched, the flair you add is always enjoyable. Especially to the point and click games, for some reason I would always get stuck and have to wait for a walk though of sorts.
I found you because of That Time on Murder She Wrote, and I don’t care a whit about games like this, but I watch pretty much every video you release because I find them witty and well-produced. To be honest, your game reviews sometimes make me want to try the game, until my self-awareness kicks in and I remember that I don’t like computer games. 😂
these have never been my type of games and i dont play much games in general, but the title of the video and its contents have me sold. LOVE twin peaks and the X-files, definately going to try this out.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for introducing me to this game. I bought both games based on your recommendation and have had such a blast playing both. I've been genuinely looking forward to starting new cases and I can't believe how much I love Dooley.
You do fantastic work you've actually got me into alot of point and click games I missed over the years! Thankyou for doing what you do and making this content.
I played this a few years ago, and I'd forgotten just how cool it was. It's awesome to see you cover it! Now I've gotta check if I have the sequel or not
This one's been on my wishlist for a while. Although I haven't seen either Twin Peaks or The X-Files, this seems like a good pick for me! I *adored* Unavowed and I'm glad there are more easy adventure games for a clueless newbie like me to get stuck into.
PuD, if you love mysteries and supernatural stuff in a point and click game pls play The Blackwell series (2006-16) it ends bittersweetly and an entire occult subplot was cut out but it's great to visit from start to finish. 3rd one is arguably the best one. You'll love Joey for sure.
I'm so glad to have adventure game reviews back! I love all of your content, don't get me wrong. These reviews were how I found your channel, so I'm just excited to get to learn about more games I'll love.
Thanks for sharing your content. Your content helped me learn to look into others interests and that has expanded my universe! The adventures of Pete and Pete's sound track songs pop up daily in my mix 😀
It is great to see you back, I hope you are well. It is great to see more video game videos, as I first found the channel from the LGR gaming videos (I would love to see more of you together). I still very much enjoy the film/television/Murder She Wrote videos, so I hope those continue as well (and maybe even some Columbo episode review videos).
If you want a truly funny game, I highly recommend West of Loathing and (to a slightly lesser extent) Shadows Over Loathing. Some of the best writing I've ever seen in video games, and not just comedy.

I'd love some comics about the their adventures, at least!
Same here! Plus the French traduction was top and I laughed so hard on the puns of the case's files!
Not sure if you've seen FARSCAPE, but your vocals for Spider are a dead ringer for Raxil.
Loved it.
So good to see you do an adventure game review again!
Always love when we get a Roses adventure game review! 😊 Especially when we get original character voices too! (My favorite is always The Sultry French Maid, bonus points if her name is Fifi!)
Watching this video, I have to say there was one line of game dialouge that cracked me up that I will be incorporating into my daily vocabulary, and that is, "Tam has no warmth for you in his heart." 🤣
I liked that one, too.

Brilliant voice acting lol! I did a full Eastward playthrough voice acted. It was an exhausting decision to follow through with 🤣
Oh my god yes! This game is awesome and I'm so happy someone I follow is talking about it! Officer Dooley alone is worth the price of admission.

This game is really funny and every investigation is extremely short, so you might want to give it a try!
This game's puzzles are so basic, just play it for the story and the pay off. The dialogue is so fun!
This game is made of individual cases, and each case takes about 20 minutes. It's perfect if you just want to relax for a half-hour between chores. Sit back, laugh you heart out, then close the game and leave with a smile on your face.
The music has that really warm lofi feel while being that sort-of-creepy ambient feel.
It soo great at setting up the mood!
So great to see you doing an adventure game!
Yeeees I'm an old fan so this likely gonna be very nostalgic for me to watch
"Darkside Detective: I can't wait to play the sequel" would be a great game title.
The sequel is also wonderful, even if the cases do stretch on a bit overlong toward the end. And they haven't completed the "bonus" acts you're supposed to unlock as you play.

One of my favourite youtubers doing a video on one of my favourite games...YAASSS!
Yay! PUR is back with an adventure game! Can't wait for more on the sequel.
The Art style reminds me a lot of The Last Door, which is always a positive!
Reasons why you should play Fumble in the Dark
1: You can find Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger on a date. And Michael Myers is the waiter.
I really enjoy hearing you talk enthusiastically about retro(-feel) games, PUR! I'm happy you did another one
I've started playing this recently and, while watching this video, I realized that I've been playing more point and click adventure games than I've ever played as a kid. Virtuaverse, 2064: Read Only Memories, Darkside Detective, Gemini Rue, etc. It's amazing how much stuff is available now! Anyways, I love your channel because I love mysteries and adventure games so thanks for making all of this content!
So glad you are doing gaming videos again. Don’t get me wrong, the tv stuff is awesome, but when I think PUR, I think 90s point and click adventures.
Yes I been waiting for you to cover this game!
Thanks!
Glad to see games back on your radar. It's a big part of why my wife and I started watching your content and buying the art. Came for the games, stayed for the super talented and funny Roses

I was JUST going through your adventure game backlog last week and wondering when you'd do another one!! Timely as ever.
OH MY GOD! Thank you it’s been so long since I’ve seen anyone talk about this! It needs more recognition
The squeal is awesome and gives you a bunch of bonus cases
So glad you found this game, and that you made a video! I remember playing the intro case on Kongregate, and fell in love right away. It's a perfect blend of retro point-and-click art and mechanics, great writing, and fantastic writing and references.
Roses! What a breath of fresh air. I've been missing your gaming content so much. Is there any chance that you'll come back to the Quest for Glory series? I would love to see your take on Shadows of Darkness. 🦑

I love your adventure game reviews! The TV stuff is good too but OG PushingUpRoses gives me good vibes.
Unavowed was the reason I found your channel. I think if someone asks what adventure game should I play, I’d say Unavowed.
it would be really cool if in part two of Maggie Mae Fish's retrospective on Twin Peaks if she was streaming this game
Ah, I've had my eye on this game for a while! Glad to see it gets your seal of approval!!
Yay, a new Roses game review! Today just got a lot better.
I almost forgot I picked these up dirt cheap a while back and still have yet to play them. Love games that tickle my 90s nostalgia.
what a joy to be able to watch two new Roses videos tonight!!! ❤ Blessed channel always makes me so happy!
I've really enjoyed your non-gaming content but it's awesome to see you talking about games again. Really loved this game, gotta go play the sequel!
Nice to see you reviewing an adventure game again! As PC games were a huge blind spot for me, I went down a rabbit hole watching your old reviews back when I first subbed, and seeing this made me nostalgic for the mutant spider screech from your Fable review!😂
Thank you so much for recommending this one. I had so much fun finishing it up and can't believe that there's bonus cases. So worth the time!
Ever since the first video I watched, the flair you add is always enjoyable. Especially to the point and click games, for some reason I would always get stuck and have to wait for a walk though of sorts.
I miss the old adventure game reviews, it's good to see your still playing
Missed your adventure game reviews PUR, glad you're back to them :)
I was just rewatching all your adventure game videos so this is perfect timing
I found you because of That Time on Murder She Wrote, and I don’t care a whit about games like this, but I watch pretty much every video you release because I find them witty and well-produced. To be honest, your game reviews sometimes make me want to try the game, until my self-awareness kicks in and I remember that I don’t like computer games. 😂
These videogame reviews are like a warm slice of cherry pie and a cup of damn good coffee. They just brighten my whole day.
these have never been my type of games and i dont play much games in general, but the title of the video and its contents have me sold. LOVE twin peaks and the X-files, definately going to try this out.
Please do more co-op let’s plays with LGR!
I played this last year and loved it sooooo much. I'm so glad to see you covering it.
It was so delightful to see you do a game review again
Oh man, so glad you discovered these! So good.
Yay! The sole reason why I'm still subscribed to your channel! Definitely going to be checking out this game. Thanks Sarah!
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for introducing me to this game. I bought both games based on your recommendation and have had such a blast playing both. I've been genuinely looking forward to starting new cases and I can't believe how much I love Dooley.
perfect bite sized pur adventure game video, reminds me of your older ones! love it
I'm so hyped to be early! Love your stuff.
Yay! Woke up to a Roses video ! 💕💕💕 Love your content Madame so very bingeable !
You've introduced me to many good games, can't wait to try this out! Thanks for all the excellent game reviews you do!
Okay that voice acting was actually rather charming.
YES! I loved this game and was hoping you'd be reviewing it some day :)
Great video, thanks Roses.
I like how vivid the games colour pallet is
YAY, another adventure game review! Always love your take on these.
Thank you so much for covering this game. Absolutely sold me on it!
I miss the adventure game reviews!
You do fantastic work you've actually got me into alot of point and click games I missed over the years!
Thankyou for doing what you do and making this content.
This is insane, I just finished this game, and remembered your channel, only to find you just did a video on it
PUR doing an adventure game review is pure nostalgia
I played it a few years ago and loved it especially officer Dooley.
Love to see you talking about adventure games again! Mo' please!
I can’t wait to check this one out? I understand the direction you took your channel, but I really miss your old content.
Woohoo! Glad to see Spooky Doorway get some love, DD is great and indeed a perfect entry point to adventure games.
These are definitely comedy games above all else! Really good microadventures
Would love to see a long play on this 😉
Thank you for all your hard work on these videos
PuD, if you love mysteries and supernatural stuff in a point and click game pls play The Blackwell series (2006-16) it ends bittersweetly and an entire occult subplot was cut out but it's great to visit from start to finish. 3rd one is arguably the best one. You'll love Joey for sure.
love it. im literally subbed for your awesome adventure game reviews and your channel could grow a lot if you did them more
I'm glad to see you do a video on this game. I loved the first game so much I jumped on the kickstarter for the second one the instant it was up.
Seriously I saw Dale Cooper and clicked on this so fast. I'm currently rewatching Twin Peaks. I had forgotten David Duchovny was on the show too
Yes!!! I was a backer on BOTH KICKSTARTER PROJECTS... THIS GAME AND STUDIO ARE TOP NOTCH!! Thanks for the AMAZING REVIEW!!!
Big fan of your channel!! I love your child horror show episodes, but I also dig these point and click game reviews! Keep it up!
LOVE your adventure game reviews!!!!
