Arriving at Tatanagar - Howrah-Mumbai Duronto (Aug. 10, 2011)

- I just loved the approach to Tatanagar - on a curve with appreciable height difference between the Up and Dn lines. After passing some elegant-looking WAM4s and WAG7s, we pulled into the station. So, after an impressive 81.08 kmph run (250 km in 3 hrs. 5 mts.), we made our first technical halt of the journey. The train had simply bludgeoned through the Kharagpur-Tata section in 1 hr. 26 mts. (average speed of 93.49 kmph)!
HOWRAH-MUMBAI DURONTO EXPRESS AMAZING COVERAGE TATANAGAR JN 🙏
The approach to TATA seems great-enjoyed every bit of it and yet another small Duronto clip from my side.
I agree, it was rare capture, indeed! Glad you enjoyed the video :-)
@vb642 Indeed one of the best videos ever. Thanks to railfan for putting up most of your videos at indiarailinfo!! Thank you for entertaining us with your splendid works!! Regards.
@andy25biotech Thanks, Anindya! I have very fond memories of the HWH-TATA section. Back in the 70s, I had traveled a few times between HWH and TATA in Steel/Ispat. At that time, they had a unique livery - blue-yellow-grey. Also, my first Gitanjali trip in 1980 was from HWH to TATA. When did you travel in Azad Hind?
@andy25biotech In the beginning, both Gitanjali and Coromandel had a brilliant yellow-and-red livery. In the late 80s, I saw Gitanjali with the regular maroon coaches but with a cream band across the windows. Brown-liveried WAM4, hmm...BSL shed, perhaps?
@vb642 I faintly remember that I have seen a particular livery of coaches during early 90's with Gitanjali..but not sure what was the exact livery..was there any particular livery for Gitanjali? I went to Pune on 1st January 2005 in Azad Hind..and guess what a brown liveried BSL WAM-4 was doing the honours..at that time I had no knowledge about loco and IRFCA..I thought that must be some freight loco as per the maroon livery..I was upset after not getting a WAP-4..but what a run it was.awsome!
@vb642 I see..actually I think only one or two coaches had that particular livery when I have seen Gitanjali. perhaps there was a border i think just below the windows..otherwise I might be wrong :-/ and yes the WAM-4 was from BSL..it did a fabulous job :)
great video..first time I am seeing TATA..the last time (and only time) I was travelling in HWH-NGP route in Azad Hind..TATA came both at night :)
Being a resident of Tatanagar, even i had never seen a WAP-1 at TATA. Rarest of the rare capture.
Waah sir bahut badiya video h
Sir you missed mentioning the more than 100 years old Tata Badampahar branch line, opened in 1911 as broad gauge. It diverts from near the overhead water tank. Sir your Facebook link.
Thanks for the info! My FB link - facebook.com/mani.vijay1
Oh! Man! An approach to Tatanagar at last!!!! Real nostalgia of my native:)) Awesome awesome video dude. You rock!
@86railfan Thanks a lot.... for this comment and also for taking the trouble to put my videos in the indiarailinfo site.
Wap 1 great loco sir nice video
It was truly a pleasant surprise :-)
@grisham16 Thanks! Are you from Tatanagar? I have some relatives who have been in Adityapur for the past 40 years!! My dad grew-up in Jamshedpur as well.

good one buddy! i wd like to see some more videos of the similar kind! :)
Old memories 😌
Very true! Back when that Duronto had only technical halts.
@radbcc Tamil. The last thing a railfan looks at is the track bed ... who cares!!! What is beautiful is the yard and the general railway atmosphere.
Awesome :D
@TheIndianRailways Yes, quite impressive!
@vb642: Yeah! I am from Tatanagar but have been in south since 1986. But I do visit my native for a long holiday once every year! That';s how my fondness for Indian Railways grew, due to the long train journeys from a very young age:)
Thanks for your kind words :-)
@arzan1980 Thanks!
Good one. Are you speaking kannada or tamil? By the way, you keep saying "beautiful" and the track bed is filthy???
@rainbow30000 Thanks :-)

Me too.
Very true :-)
Nice avg 93-94kmph
Thanks! Please take a look at the other videos in my channel. You would most probably some similar ones :-)
Is this from the other side (as in from KGP to TATA)? I did'nt see Kharkhai , Adityapur?
Iam from jamshedpur as well.. born and brought up
After 9 years
Sadly the train is no longer what it used to be in punctuality and service. It's also very irritating that Raipur is going to be introduced as a halt. I think the rot has started.
very nice-Duronto rocks-Ihope u'll like my little video response.
