If you get taken to court,,, for public photography, fined, jailed etc. . You can take the council/government to court and demand all cctv in the land to be shut down. It's a sad state of affairs when one has to carry a camera everywhere to protect oneself from cops. Edit,, oh, and opinions are not law. No matter if it's the opinion of a cop or not.
years ago the police had police box's in city centres and could take a suspect there to chat, now they have nowhere to go, and unfortunately there is no expectation of privacy in public, unless the police can make there own!
It's not about his privacy - it's about protecting him from likely assault and abuse by the clowns in uniform!
